Description
The Span America Span+Aids Extremities Patient Positioners are foam holds for heels, feet, legs, arms, and hands. Span America is a Savaria company. Westin Healthcare quotes them and delivers them for homes and care sites in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
This page is the extremities family only. Pick the shape the care plan named: a Cradle Boot or Foot Drop Stop for the heel and ankle, a Limb Elevator, Flared Leg Extension, or Leg Trough for the leg, an Upper Limb Positioner for the arm, or a Cock-Up Splint for the hand and wrist. If a clinician has named Heel Manager, a head or body wedge, a surgical kit, or an abduction pillow, ask us for that listing. Those are separate Span articles.
Who these positioners are for
These positioners are for a person who needs a foam hold on a limb while in bed: a heel that should float, a foot that should stay out of drop, a casted or uncasted leg that should stay elevated, or a hand and wrist that should stay opposed. They are non-powered. There is no pump to plug in.
Families and wound-care teams usually call us when the plan names a Cradle Boot, a Foot Drop Stop, or another Span+Aids limb shape. Purchasing coordinators in long-term care and acute care order the case pack that matches the floor. If the plan is a covered dual-heel elevator, ask us for Heel Manager. If the plan is a trunk wedge or a head support, ask us for the head and body family.
- Heels and ankles that need a float or a foot-drop hold
- Legs that need elevation, a flared extension, or a trough
- Arms and hands that need a sloped groove or a cock-up splint
Construction and how they work
Each code on this page is a medical-grade foam shape. Span cuts some of them with Ring-of-Air channels so air can move through the core. The Cradle Boot Standard and the Foot Drop Stop Standard sit on a square base so the limb stays put. The Foot Drop Stop Original uses a hexagonal base so the leg can rest in more than one lie. Selected codes ship vacuum packed to save storage. Every shape on this family sheet conforms to California Technical Bulletin 117.
The Cradle Boot floats the heel and holds the foot in a neutral position so the leg is less likely to roll out. The Foot Drop Stop elevates the heel, supports the ankle, and uses an adjustable strap when the ankle needs a contracture or foot-drop hold. The Limb Elevator raises a casted or uncasted leg in supine or side-lying. The Flared Leg Extension raises the leg and knee in extension. The Leg Trough holds the leg and knee in a neutral lie, with a base cut to the back of the leg. The Upper Limb Positioner holds the upper arm in a sloped groove. The Cock-Up Splint holds the hand and wrist, with an adjustable stirrup for the fingers and thumb.
Span America Span+Aids Extremities specifications
These figures are for the eleven extremities codes on this page. They are not Heel Manager, not a head or body wedge, and not a surgical or abduction article. The specification tab holds the stored values.
Span lists the family as non-powered foam. Ring-of-Air is named on the Foot Drop Stop Standard. Standard boots and stops use a square base. The Original Foot Drop Stop uses a hexagonal base. Case counts are 2, 6, or 8 by code. Span does not publish a weight limit, an inch size, or a warranty year for this family. Ask us for the current Span America warranty terms on the code you order.

Delivery in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team can deliver these positioners across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, on their own or with a bed setup. We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a sample first. For a scheduled drop-off, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works.
This is a small carton. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods can apply when it ships without a bed or a lift. If it travels with a hospital bed, the bed is oversized and White-Glove Delivery is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Which beds these positioners fit
Span does not name a bed brand or a deck width for this family. The foam sits on the mattress or under the limb. They work on a standard hospital or long-term care deck, including the Span America beds we already sell.
If the room also needs a Span sleep surface, see the Span America Advantage and the Span America Encore, and ask us for the PressureGuard Custom Care or Span-Care mattress we already stock. Browse hospital beds and medical mattresses when the positioner is only part of the room. For a 36 inch foam hospital mattress we already sell, see the Gravity 7.
Span writes that the Cradle Boot and the Foot Drop Stop can be used on their own or with Heel Manager when the plan is heel offload plus a foot-drop hold. Ask us to add Heel Manager to the quote when the clinician named both. If the person also needs help standing from the bed or chair, we already sell the Handicare ReTurn.

Frequently asked questions
What are Span+Aids Extremities positioners?
They are Span America's foam holds for heels, feet, legs, arms, and hands. This page carries the eleven published extremities codes, from Cradle Boot and Foot Drop Stop through limb elevators, a trough, an upper-arm groove, and a cock-up splint.
How is the Cradle Boot different from Heel Manager?
The Cradle Boot is an open foam boot that floats one heel and holds the foot in a neutral position. Heel Manager is a covered elevator that offloads both heels on a sloped foam ramp. They can be used together when the plan names both. Ask us for Heel Manager if that is the article the clinician named.
What is the difference between Cradle Boot Standard and Original?
Both float the heel and hold the foot in a neutral position. Standard (50644-515) is the well-ventilated square-base boot. Original (55555-02) is the original cradle that also works against external leg rotation. Pick the shape the care plan named.
What is a Foot Drop Stop?
It is a foam hold that elevates the heel, supports the ankle, and uses an adjustable strap when the ankle needs a contracture or foot-drop hold. Standard (50638-511) has a square base and Ring-of-Air ventilation. Original (55555-01 or 50638-311) has a hexagonal base so the leg can rest in more positions.
Is this a surgical positioner or an abduction pillow?
No. This page is the extremities family. Surgical kits, 90 degree and total-knee elevators, O.R. pads, and abduction pillows sit on a separate Span+Aids listing. Ask us for that listing if the operating room or post-op plan named those shapes.
Does this need a pump?
No. Every code on this page is non-powered foam. There is no pump to plug in.
Which code should I pick?
Match the shape to the limb and the job. The default is Cradle Boot Standard, 6/cs (50644-515). Use a Foot Drop Stop when the plan is ankle position or foot drop. Use a Limb Elevator, Flared Leg Extension, or Leg Trough for the leg. Use the Upper Limb Positioner or Cock-Up Splint for the arm or hand. Call (905) 451-7743 if you want us to match the note.
Can I use these with Heel Manager?
Yes. Span writes that the Cradle Boot and the Foot Drop Stop can be used on their own or with Heel Manager. Ask us to add Heel Manager when the plan is full heel offload plus a foot-drop hold.
What is Ring-of-Air?
It is Span's channel cut through the foam so air can move through the core. Span names it on the Foot Drop Stop Standard.
Which beds do these fit?
They sit on the mattress or under the limb. Span does not name a bed brand. They work on the Span America Advantage and Encore decks we sell, and on other hospital or long-term care mattresses.
What is included?
You get the Span America Span+Aids foam positioner in the code and case count you pick. The default is Cradle Boot Standard (50644-515), a 6-count case. Heel Manager, the bed, and the mattress are sold separately.
What is the warranty?
Ask us for the current Span America term on the code you order. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work.
