Description

The Empulse StreetJet is Sunrise Medical's hybrid handbike pull device for a manual wheelchair. Westin Healthcare quotes it and clamps it to a measured round-tube frame for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. This is not a power wheelchair and it is not the compact F35. The clinic checks the front tubes and the speed the person is allowed to order. Then Westin submits Sunrise's form.

Sunrise's Canada page lists a 120 kg (265 lb) rating, a range of up to 50 km (31 miles) on the 36 V 14 Ah pack, and a 6 kph (3.7 mph) base speed with optional 10 or 15 kph (6.2 or 9.3 mph). The Canada owner's manual weighs the 14 Ah build from 15.5 kg (34.2 lbs). Choose a 12 inch or 16 inch pneumatic tire. The 16 inch wheel is the outdoor tire Sunrise highlights with the carbon fibre fender.

Who this handbike is for

The Empulse StreetJet is for a rider who wants outdoor and sport range that a 6.5 inch urban pull cannot give. Sunrise's own chooser puts the StreetJet on uneven ground and longer days. One Touch clamps are made so a small push docks the bike, including for limited hand function. The person still needs enough arms and trunk to manage a handlebar on a longer wheelbase.

If you want a lighter indoor pull, start with the Empulse F35. If you want to keep the chair's everyday footprint, see the Empulse R90 or the Empulse M90.

  • Front hybrid handbike with patented One Touch clamps
  • Up to 50 km (31 miles) on the 14 Ah pack Sunrise prints for Canada
  • 12 inch or 16 inch pneumatic tire, clinic-ordered

Range, speed, and batteries

The Empulse StreetJet travels up to 50 km (31 miles) per charge on the 36 V 14 Ah lithium-ion pack, measured to ISO 7176-4. Sunrise says that figure depends on surface, user weight, driving, temperature, and terrain. The Canada owner's manual also lists an 8 Ah pack at up to 26 km (16 miles). The Canada web table sells the 14 Ah story, so that is the default we describe. The 14 Ah pack is 504 Wh and about 2.6 kg (5.7 lbs).

Canada's product page prints 6 kph (3.7 mph), with optional 10 or 15 kph (6.2 or 9.3 mph). Charge time on the 14 Ah pack is about 7 to 8 hours at 2.0 A, or 3.5 to 4 hours at 4.0 A. Ask us which charger ships on the order.

How it attaches and what it fits

Patented One Touch clamps grab the front of a round-tube frame. Sunrise's 2025 order form describes an adjustable 19 to 24 mm clamp for those tubes. A docking release lever takes the bike off. A stand holds the unit when it is parked. Twin disc brakes are standard; a triple disc is an option on the Canada page, with the carbon fibre fender and a USB port on the 14 Ah pack.

The clinic still measures the chair. Do not treat the F35 tilt no-go list as a StreetJet list, and do not use the R20 FAQ block that currently sits on Sunrise's StreetJet page. Those docking-angle notes belong to the R20. Live everyday chairs we already build include the Quickie 2 and the Nitrum.

Empulse StreetJet specifications

These figures are for the Empulse StreetJet on Sunrise's current Canada page, with weight and charge times from the Canada owner's manual Rev. E. The specification tab holds the stored values.

Tires 12 inch or 16 inch pneumatic. Battery 36 V 14 Ah lithium-ion (504 Wh). Motor 250 W nominal; 12 inch peak 630 W / 40 Nm, 16 inch peak 750 W / 60 Nm. Grade 6 degrees / 11 percent. Attachment: One Touch clamps on round tubes.

The Canada owner's manual prints 24 months on manufacturing defects, 2 years on the motor, and 2 years on the battery with a wear-and-tear clause. Coverage may still vary by province.

StreetJet or F35

The StreetJet is the outdoor hybrid handbike: 12 or 16 inch tire, up to 50 km, from 15.5 kg. The F35 is the 16.5 lb urban pull with a 6.5 inch wheel and up to 9.3 miles. The Xtender and the M90 stay in the rear wheels. The R20 is for a caregiver, not a handbike.

Funding help for a power assist device in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) lists power add-ons for manual wheelchairs among its funded mobility devices. ADP can fund 75% of the cost of a qualifying power assist device when it is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible wheelchair, and some income-support programs cover the full client share. Not every device or situation qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this power assist device across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area after the assessment and the fit to the chair are in place. We bring it in, set the One Touch clamps, and show you the throttle, the brakes, and the charger before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a device first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased devices are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

If the device is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Sunrise Medical manufacturer warranty

The Canada StreetJet owner's manual prints 24 months on manufacturing defects, 2 years on the motor, and 2 years on the battery, with wear items such as tires and brake shoes outside that path. The Canada page also says coverage may vary by province. We handle the claim with you.
