Description
The Drive Free-Standing Trapeze 13049SV is a 650 lb overhead handle on its own floor base. It stands beside a hospital bed and does not clamp to the headboard. Drive designed it to assist larger individuals with changing position in bed and with transfers in and out of bed. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it up in homes and care settings across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
This is not a Hoyer-style patient lift. The person holds a triangle handle on a chain and uses their own arms to shift. Drive's owner manual for item 13049SV says the trapeze is not designed to support the total body weight of an individual and is for assistance only. If the person cannot pull themselves, see a floor lift such as the Drive deluxe hydraulic patient lift.
Who it is for
This trapeze is for a person who can use their arms to pull and who needs help changing position in bed or moving toward the edge of the bed. Drive writes that it is designed to assist larger individuals. The published capacity is 650 lb, with the assistance-only limit above.
Families usually call us when a metal headboard clamp will not work, when they want a frame that can move with a different bed, or when the person is above the 250 lb rating of the bed-mounted Drive trapeze bar 13009TRAPBV. If you need 1000 lb and a boom that swivels, see the Drive 13039SV free-standing trapeze.
- Home care beside a hospital-style bed, including the Drive Delta 1000
- Users within Drive's 650 lb assistance rating who can pull on the handle
- Rooms where the bed has no metal headboard to clamp to
How it lifts
It does not lift the person with a motor or a sling. A free-standing steel base sits on the floor. An upright and a 37 inch boom hold a sliding chain and a triangle handle above the mattress. The person reaches up, holds the handle, and uses their arms to roll, sit up, or shift toward the edge of the bed. Drive says the chain slides from the edge of the headboard to the end of the boom.
Assembly is tool-free. Drive's owner manual walks through push-pin tubes, a locking pin on the boom, and a thumb screw on the chain ring. Tighten every joint before the first use. The frame is independent of the bed, so the bed can still raise, lower, and articulate underneath it. Place the base so the handle hangs where the person can reach it without leaning off the mattress.
Drive Free-Standing Trapeze 13049SV specifications
These figures are for Westin SKU 13049SV, Drive item 13049SV (bariatric trapeze, silver vein). The specification tab holds the stored values. Drive's current shop sheet prints:
- Weight capacity: 650 lb
- Boom length: 37"
- Product weight: 74 lb
- Carton shipping weight: 83 lb
- Warranty: limited lifetime
- HCPCS: E0912
Drive's owner manual for 13049SV repeats the 650 lb (295 kg) figure and adds that the trapeze is for assistance only, not total body weight. Drive does not print overall height, width, or depth on the current sheet. Do not treat vendor-published room dimensions as Drive numbers.
Slings and spreader bar
This product has no spreader bar and does not use a patient-lift sling. The person holds a triangle handle on a chain. If the care plan needs a full-body transfer in a sling, this trapeze is the wrong device. Ask us about a floor lift and the matching sling style from our universal slings, full-body slings, or divided-leg slings.
