Bright Way BW-12550 Group 22NF AGM Battery

The Bright Way BW-12550 is a 12 V 55 Ah (20-hour) group 22NF AGM sealed lead-acid cell. Bright Way prints 55 Ah at 20 hr, 44 Ah at 5 hr, and 30.5 Ah at 1 hr. Westin Healthcare sells the single cell in Brampton and can match the group 22NF tray before we send a replacement across the Greater Toronto Area.

Who this group 22NF battery is for

Group 22NF is the tall, narrow mobility case used on many mid-size scooters and power chairs. BW-12550 is Bright Way's 12 V 55 Ah AGM in that case. It is sold as one cell. A 24 V device needs two of the same chemistry and rating, replaced together.

• Use this cell when the old stamp is group 22NF, 12 V, about 55 Ah AGM, with a Z or M6 insert
• Choose the MK 8A22NF when you want East Penn's dual-purpose 22NF AGM
• Choose the MK 8G22NF when the old cell is gel, not AGM

This is not a U1 battery. It is not the MK 8A24 group 24. Do not drop it into a 12 Ah travel-scooter tray.

Terminals, chemistry, and size

The Bright Way BW 12550 sheet prints 229 x 138 x 211 mm (9.02 x 5.43 x 8.31 in), total height 214 mm (8.43 in), about 15.5 kg (34.2 lb), terminal Z or M6, AGM VRLA. That case is shorter than the MK 8A22NF (about 9.25 in). Chemistry is absorbed glass mat, not gel. Confirm Z nut-and-bolt versus M6 insert against the old cell before you order. A harness made for T881 gel posts will not bolt to every Z tab.

SLA, AGM, gel, and the size ladder

BW-12550 is AGM, not gel. Gel in this case is the MK 8G22NF. The MK AGM twin in this case is the 8A22NF. Step down to U1 with the MK 8AU1. Step up to group 24 with the MK 8A24. The MK 50 Ah F8 house cell is a different case: see MK M50-12.

BW-12550 is a 12 V 55 Ah group 22NF AGM cell. Use it when the old cell is that group, voltage, and chemistry. Pride Victory and many U1 scooters do not take 22NF. Confirm the tray.

Do I need two batteries for a scooter?

Yes, on a 24 V scooter or chair. BW-12550 is sold as one 12 V cell. Replace both cells together with the same rating.

How long do mobility scooter batteries last?

Bright Way does not print a year life in scooter service on the BW 12550 sheet. When range falls off after a full charge, replace both 12 V cells.

Can I replace scooter batteries myself?

Only when the device manual shows a drop-in tray and you can match the red and black leads. Westin can do the swap. Do not mix AGM with gel in the same tray.

Is BW-12550 the same as MK 8A22NF?

No. Both are 12 V 55 Ah class group 22NF AGM. BW-12550 is Bright Way general-purpose AGM. MK 8A22NF is East Penn dual-purpose AGM. Choose the MK cell when you want the MK mobility line already on this shop.
