Description
The Beka Carlo Patient Scale Conversion Kit is the factory retrofit that puts a patient scale on a Carlo Alu floor lift that was ordered without one. Beka Hospitec code 924003400. The kit is the scale plus the retainer that carries it, and Savaria lists its weighing capacity as up to 200 kg (441 lb). Westin Healthcare stocks Carlo parts in Brampton and fits them across the Greater Toronto Area.
This is the 200 kg kit, and it is the one for the 185-rated Carlo builds. Beka builds two conversion kits and they are not interchangeable: this one, and 924001800, whose weighing capacity is 250 kg (551 lb) for the Carlo Alu Classic 230 and Comfort EP 230. Match the kit to the lift, not to the patient.
What the kit is for
Weighing somebody who cannot stand is normally a second transfer: onto a chair scale, or onto a bed with load cells, or nothing at all and a number written down from memory. A lift-mounted scale removes that. The weight is taken during a transfer the resident was having anyway, on the equipment already under them, by the caregiver already in the room.
That matters most where weight is a clinical measurement rather than a record-keeping chore: fluid balance, dialysis, wound and nutrition programs, and any medication dosed by body mass. A weekly number that is actually taken beats a monthly number that keeps getting skipped because it needs a second person and a second piece of equipment.
Beka sells the scale as a factory option on a new lift and as this retrofit kit for a lift already in service. The retrofit exists because the decision to weigh usually arrives after the lift does.
What is in the box
Savaria's own description of 924003400 is the specification: a conversion kit for retrofitting a patient scale, including the retainer and the scale, with a weighing capacity up to 200 kg. The companion accessory line prints the scale on its own as 924003300, a calibrated digital patient scale up to 200 kg (441 lb) for the same builds, and Savaria's card for the 230 kit adds that the scale is supplied with standard batteries.
- The retainer. The bracket that holds the scale on the lift. This is the part that makes it a conversion rather than a hanging scale, and it is why the kit is model specific.
- The digital scale. Battery powered, so nothing else on the lift has to be rewired.
Beka publishes no display size, graduation, tare behaviour or battery type for this code, so none are printed here. If the reading interval matters for your program, ask us and we will get it in writing from Savaria before you order.
What it does not change
Fitting a scale does not raise what the lift can lift. A Carlo Alu Classic 185 or Comfort EP 185 stays rated at 185 kg (408 lb) with the kit on it. The scale reads to 200 kg because a scale is cheaper to over-build than a hoist, not because the lift grew. Beka's rule for any lift assembly still governs: the lowest rating among the lift, the carry bar, the sling and every accessory is the rating of the whole assembly.
The one thing it does change is geometry. Beka's operating manual warns that the distance from the floor to the sling suspension depends on the carry bar fitted and on the optional scale, and publishes no figure for the scale build. In a room where the lift already only just reaches the floor for a fall pickup, or only just clears a high bed, measure before you order. We will come and measure with you if it is close.

Beka publishes the weighing capacity and the kit contents, and nothing else about this code. There is no published graduation, display size, battery type, calibration interval or tolerance for 924003400. Rather than borrow a figure from another scale, this page prints what the manufacturer prints and says so.
One thing worth settling before the first weigh-in: Beka publishes no calibration or recertification schedule for the Carlo scale in Ontario, and does not state whether a calibration certificate ships against the serial number. If the weight is going into a clinical record, ask us to confirm both with Savaria in writing when you order.
Which Carlo does this kit fit?
Two conversion kits, split by capacity. Read the capacity off your own lift and pick the kit that matches it.
| Lift | Lift SWL | Conversion kit | Scale capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carlo Alu Classic 185 | 185 kg (408 lb) | 924003400, this listing | Up to 200 kg (441 lb) |
| Carlo Alu Comfort EP 185 | 185 kg (408 lb) | 924003400, this listing | Up to 200 kg (441 lb) |
| Carlo Alu Classic 230 | 230 kg (507 lb) | 924001800 | 250 kg (551 lb) |
| Carlo Alu Comfort EP 230 | 230 kg (507 lb) | 924001800 | 250 kg (551 lb) |
The split follows the scale parts themselves. Savaria lists the calibrated scale 924003300 at up to 200 kg (441 lb) against the 185 builds and 925001208 at up to 250 kg (551 lb) against the 230 builds, and this kit carries the 200 kg scale. Savaria's own description of 924001800 names the Carlo Alu Classic 230 and the Comfort EP 230 in full. Call (905) 451-7743 with the code off your lift label before ordering and we will confirm it against Savaria rather than let you guess from the chassis.
The Carlo lifts we stock, all four of them, take one kit or the other:
- Carlo Alu Classic 185 and the Classic 185 low chassis, 6-point loop carry bar.
- Carlo Alu Comfort EP 185 and the Comfort EP 185 low chassis, 4-point clip carry bar.
- Carlo Alu Classic 230 and Carlo Alu Comfort EP 230, which take the other kit.
Buying a lift and a scale together
If the lift has not been ordered yet, you do not need this kit. Beka builds every Carlo with the scale fitted at the factory as its own order code, and a factory build is tidier than a retrofit:
- Carlo Alu Classic 185 with scale, 6-point loop carry bar.
- Carlo Alu Comfort EP 185 with scale, 4-point clip carry bar.
- Carlo Alu Classic 230 with scale and Comfort EP 230 with scale at the higher capacity.
This kit is for the lift you already own. Other Carlo parts and the rest of our lift spares sit on the lift parts shelf, and the complete machines are on the patient lifts hub. If you run a Span America floor lift rather than a Carlo, the scale for those is the Span America Digital Floor Lift Scale and it is a different part entirely.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Small parts ship on our standard service. Westin's own team delivers across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, and you are welcome to visit our Brampton showroom, or Mobility Specialties, our partner store in Etobicoke, if you would rather match the part to your lift in person.
Call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number off your lift and we will confirm the fit before the order goes out. Shipping terms are on the shipping policy page, and any charge is confirmed on your order.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the lift needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not an overseas parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department, and our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Beka warranty and the annual safety check
Beka publishes no standalone warranty document for Carlo parts. The liability and warranty section of the Carlo operating manual is the only warranty text Beka prints, and it carries no year count, so ask us for the current terms that ship against your serial number and we will handle a claim with you.
Two Beka rules apply to a lift that has just had a scale fitted. Repairs and modifications may only be carried out by authorized personnel using original parts, which is why we fit this kit rather than ship it to a maintenance cupboard. And the Carlo takes a prescribed safety check at least once a year, on top of the daily and weekly checks in the manual. We can quote the annual inspection with the part.
Frequently asked questions
Which kit do I need, this one or 924001800?
This one, 924003400, if your lift is a Carlo Alu Classic 185 or a Carlo Alu Comfort EP 185. The other kit, 924001800, is for the Classic 230 and the Comfort EP 230 and carries a 250 kg (551 lb) scale. Read the code off the label on the side of your lift and call (905) 451-7743 if it is not obvious.
Does the scale raise what my lift can lift?
No. The lift keeps the safe working load printed on its own label, 185 kg (408 lb) on the builds this kit fits. The scale reads to 200 kg because scales are built with headroom. The rating of the whole assembly is always the lowest rating on it, counting the lift, the carry bar, the sling and every accessory.
What comes in the kit?
The retainer that holds the scale on the lift, and the digital scale itself with standard batteries. Nothing on the lift needs rewiring.
Can I fit it myself?
No, and Beka is direct about why. Repairs and modifications to a Carlo may only be done by authorized personnel using original parts, and doing otherwise voids the manufacturer's terms. Our technicians fit it, function-test the lift afterwards, and leave the lift ready to use.
Will the lift still reach the floor?
Usually, but check first. Beka's manual states that the distance from the floor to the sling suspension changes with the carry bar and with the optional scale, and publishes no figure for the scale build. If your room is tight, or the lift is used for floor pickups, tell us and we will measure before the order goes in.
What is the reading interval, and does it come calibrated?
Beka publishes no graduation or tolerance for this code, and no calibration schedule for Ontario. Savaria lists the matching scale part 924003300 as a calibrated digital patient scale, but the certificate arrangement is not published. If the reading is going into a clinical record, ask us and we will get both in writing from Savaria before you order.
Does it fit a Nora, an Eva or an FGA-700?
No. This is a Carlo part. The scale for a Span America floor lift is a separate item, and other lift families have their own. Tell us what you run and we will point you at the right one.
Should I buy the retrofit or a lift with the scale already on it?
If you already own the lift, buy the retrofit. If you are still ordering, buy the factory scale build, because it arrives set up and tested as one machine. We list both.
