Description

The Golden Regal PR-504 is the working flagship of Golden's MaxiComfort line: a 400 lb, 4-zone infinite-position lift chair with HeatWave far-infrared heat built in as standard, an articulating headrest and power lumbar both standard, and open arm compartments that hold a no-spill cup holder, a wireless phone charger, a removable table and the hand controls without giving up the armrests. A higher 48-inch back for taller users, one Medium/Large size, made in the USA. Westin Healthcare delivers and sets it up across Brampton and the GTA.

The Regal is for the person who lives in the chair all day and wants everything that day needs within reach of the seat.

Who this lift chair is for

The Regal answers three needs at once. Capacity and size: 400 lbs and a 23 inch seat between the arms carry a bigger user with dignity, and the higher back supports taller people to the head, which almost no lift chair does. Warmth as therapy: HeatWave's far-infrared heat runs from the shoulders down through the seat to the feet, with adjustable hi-lo settings and timers, for the aching backs, arthritic hips and cold-sitting winters that define Canadian heating seasons. Daily living: the split open-arm design keeps the cup holder upright while the chair lifts, charges the phone wirelessly in the left arm, and unfolds a removable table for meals, medication and the crossword.

It is equally the caregiver's pick: one chair that holds the person safely, warms them, and keeps their things off the floor. If Twilight's tilting recovery position is the priority, the PR-545 with Twilight carries it; if the budget points lower, the 3-position tier (the Cambridge, the Nipigon) is honest about what it omits.

HeatWave: far-infrared heat from shoulders to feet

HeatWave is not a heating pad sewn into a lumbar cushion. It is Golden's far-infrared heating system, standard on the Regal, running through the back and seat to the footrest: far-infrared warmth penetrates skin and muscle rather than just warming the fabric, and the HeatWave hand control sets hi-lo intensity and timers so the heat is a treatment you control, not a switch. For arthritic joints, chronic low-back ache and circulation-poor cold feet, it is the difference between sitting in the chair and being glad you did. On most Golden chairs HeatWave is a factory option; the Regal is the model that carries it standard, which is the heart of its value.

Four zones and the arm compartment system

The 4-zone MaxiComfort system moves footrest, backrest, headrest and lumbar independently from the programmable AutoDrive control: legs up for swelling, lumbar in for the afternoon, headrest forward for reading, sleep-flat at night. The articulating headrest and power lumbar are standard, the posture-encouraging bucket seat holds you upright instead of letting you slide, and the lithium-ion backup holds the safety descent through an outage.

The arms are the part photos undersell. The right arm compartments carry the no-spill cup holder (it stays level through the lift cycle) and the AutoDrive hand control. The left arm carries the wireless smartphone charger, a second USB port, the removable table and the HeatWave control. The split-arm design means the cup holder and table sit beside your arm, not under it, so the armrest is still an armrest.

Size and wall space

One size, Medium/Large with a higher back: 40 inches wide, 48 tall, seat 23 wide by 21.5 deep, floor to seat 20.5 inches, seat-to-back 33 inches, and 22 inches of clearance behind it fully reclined. The 33 inch back carries users to about 6'4", and the 400 lb rating covers the bigger frame. Measure the doorway: 40 inches wide plus packaging is the tightest fit in our Golden range.

Fabric options

The Regal wears the SofTouch stain-defence standard fabrics (Calypso, Camel, Hazelnut, Shiraz, Sterling; the photographed Brisa Night Navy carries an upcharge and Brisa is the performance tier worth considering on a chair this lived-in). Optional factory upgrades through us: deluxe heat and vibrating massage alongside the standard HeatWave, and a footrest extension for taller legs.

Where the Regal sits in the Golden ladder

It is the top of the non-Twilight ladder: the most capacity (400 lbs), the most standard equipment (HeatWave, headrest, lumbar, charger, table), the 4-zone positioning. Below it, the DayDreamer trades HeatWave for the bucket-seat comfort build at the same 4-zone tier; the 2-zone tier (the MaxiComforter, the Relaxer) and the 3-position tier trade positioning for price. Above it only Twilight, the PR-545 with Twilight and the Cloud with Twilight, which add the tilting recovery seat rather than more equipment.

Funding help for a lift chair in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund lift chairs, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), extended health plans, and community programs, and a lift chair's lift mechanism may qualify as a medical expense on a Canadian tax return when prescribed. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.

Service and warranty

Golden guarantees the chair frame, lift frame and recline mechanism for life, electrical parts for 3 years (pro-rated through year 7), mechanical labour for 3 years and electrical labour for 1 year, with fabric and foam covered for 1 year. Warranty service runs through Westin's own service and repairs department: our technicians diagnose on the phone, come to the home across our delivery area, and SmartTek's diagnostic codes mean we usually arrive with the right part. Call (905) 451-7743 and the chair you bought from us stays our problem, not yours.

Frequently asked questions

What is HeatWave on the Regal?

Golden's far-infrared heating system, standard on this model: warmth that penetrates muscle rather than just warming the fabric, running from the shoulders through the seat to the feet, with hi-lo settings and timers on the HeatWave hand control. On most Golden chairs it is a factory option; the Regal carries it standard.

What is the weight capacity of the Regal?

400 lbs (181 kg), the highest in our Golden range, with a 23 inch seat between the arms. For 500 and 600 lb capacities the Comforter Wide tier exists.

Is the Regal good for tall people?

Yes: the 48 inch overall height gives a 33 inch seat-to-top-of-back, supporting users to about 6'4", where most lift chairs stop at the shoulders of a taller sitter.

What size lift chair do I need?

The Regal is one Medium/Large size built bigger: 23 inch seat width, 21.5 depth, 20.5 floor-to-seat. Under about 5'6" the Cambridge Medium fits better; over 6'4" call us and we will compare the tall-backed options honestly.

How far from the wall does the Regal need to be?

22 inches fully reclined. The chair itself is 40 inches wide, so measure the doorway path with care before ordering.

What is the difference between a 3 position and an infinite position lift chair?

Three-position chairs move seat and back together and stop at recline. The Regal is 4-zone MaxiComfort infinite-position: footrest, back, headrest and lumbar move independently, and the chair reaches a sleep position.

Does the Regal have Twilight?

No. Twilight tilt is the tier above: the PR-545 with Twilight and Cloud with Twilight carry it. The Regal is the equipment flagship (HeatWave, charger, table, 400 lbs) rather than the tilt therapy chair.

Does the cup holder really stay level when the chair lifts?

Yes, that is its design: the no-spill cup holder in the right arm compartment keeps the beverage upright through the lift cycle, and the split-arm design means it sits beside your arm rather than replacing the armrest.

Can I charge my phone from the chair?

Two ways: the wireless charger in the left arm compartment, and a USB port alongside it, plus the control-box USB. The removable table holds the phone where you can see it.

Does it have heat and massage too?

HeatWave heat is standard. Vibrating massage is an optional factory upgrade we can order alongside it if the buyer wants both.

Can funding help with a lift chair in Ontario?

ADP does not fund lift chairs. March of Dimes, Veterans Affairs, extended health plans and the medical-expense tax route are the practical answers; see our funding page.

What is the warranty on the Regal?

Lifetime on frame, lift frame and recline mechanism, 3 years electrical parts, 3 years mechanical labour, 1 year electrical labour.
