Description
The Sunrise Quickie QX is a Category 2 folding aluminum wheelchair, ADP device WM0001310. Westin Healthcare builds it in Brampton for homes across the Greater Toronto Area after an ADP-registered therapist assessment. The chair is configured to that assessment. It is not an off-the-shelf cart item for next-day delivery.
Sunrise lists a 300 lb rating and a 28 lb chair. Seat width and depth both run 14 to 20 inches. Front seat-to-floor height runs 12.5 to 19.5 inches. This is a self-propel chair with large rear wheels and pushrims. A companion can also push from the handles. The QX is the current Sunrise Category 2 folder. It is not the Quickie QXi, which is a different Category 3 chair.
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who needs a long-term lightweight folding manual wheelchair in the ADP Category 2 band, and whose therapist names the QX after an assessment. Families usually call us when they need a folding aluminum frame the person can self-propel, with a 300 lb rating and a seat in the 14 to 20 inch range.
If you want another current Category 2 folder, see the Motion Composites MOVE or the Stellato II. If the therapist is looking at a more adjustable Sunrise folder, that is the QXi, not this QX. A transport chair with small rear wheels is a different product.
- A Category 2 folding manual after an ADP assessment
- Self-propel use on a 28 lb aluminum frame, or companion push
- A 300 lb Sunrise rating and a 14 to 20 inch seat
Design and build
The frame is aluminum with a three-arm cross-brace that locks inside the side frames. It folds for a car or a closet. The QX uses a fixed axle plate. Seat height changes on that plate. The QX does not have the QXi's horizontal centre-of-gravity slide. Standard or hemi frames cover the seat-to-floor range.
New EXO back upholstery is offered as a standard or tension-adjustable panel. Hangers swing in or out at 60, 70, or 80 degrees, with elevating hangers as an option. Arms, wheels, and tyres come from Sunrise's common QX option mix. Colour is chosen on the current Sunrise Canada form, not from an old candy list.
- Folding aluminum frame, fixed axle
- 28 lb chair, 300 lb rating
- Seat 14 to 20 inches wide and deep
- Front seat-to-floor 12.5 to 19.5 inches
- EXO back upholstery, standard or tension adjustable
Quickie QX specifications
These figures are for the Quickie QX (model EIF6) on Sunrise Medical Canada's current page and the QX/QXi brochure. The specification tab holds the stored values. Use the 14 to 20 inch and 28 lb QX numbers, not leftover 14 to 22 inch or 29 lb lines, and not QXi numbers.
Seat 14 to 20 inches wide by 14 to 20 inches deep. Front seat-to-floor 12.5 to 19.5 inches. Rear seat-to-floor 12 to 19 inches. Back height 13 to 20 inches. Chair weight 28.0 lb. Transport weight 16.8 lb. Capacity 300 lb. Shipping carton on the Sunrise table is 33 by 38 by 13 inches.
Warranty on the Sunrise brochure is Limited Lifetime for the original purchaser. Coverage can vary by province. We handle the claim with you.
Colour, width, and depth
The QX is built to the assessment. Westin sets Color, Seat Width, and Seat Depth from the therapist's measurements and the current Sunrise Canada form. Official no-charge widths and depths are 14 to 20 inches. A 21 or 22 inch width is a Built-4-Me extra on that form, not a standard QX size.
This model is a standard self-propel wheelchair. Transport chairs use small rear wheels and are companion-pushed only.
ADP funding for a Category 2 wheelchair in Ontario
This chair is an ADP-eligible category device. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) pays 75% of the approved price for eligible clients, and clients receiving Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD support can be covered for the full cost. The route starts with an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, who confirms the need and the right category before anything is ordered: a chair bought before approval is not reimbursed. Westin Healthcare works with ADP authorizers and submissions every week, configures the chair to the prescription, and walks you through the paperwork. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to start the conversation.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Once the chair is built to the assessment, Westin's own team delivers it across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, unfold it, and show you the brakes, the fold, and the footrests before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a Category 2 chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date after they are built.
If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Frequently asked questions
What does Category 2 mean on the Quickie QX?
Category 2 is the Ontario ADP lightweight manual band: a folding chair in the 25 to 38 lb range with swing-away footrests and removable arms. The QX is 28 lb and sits on the Adult Lightweight Standard list as WM0001310. The QXi is a different chair with more axle adjustability and a Category 3 device code.
Is the QX the same chair as the QXi?
No. The QX has a fixed axle plate. The QXi adds horizontal centre-of-gravity travel and more options. Sunrise files them as different devices. Ask us for the QX, not the QXi.
Who qualifies for ADP on this chair?
You must be an Ontario resident with a valid health card and a disability that needs the device for 6 months or longer. An ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist has to assess you before the chair is ordered. We cannot promise that a specific person will be approved.
How does the 75 / 25 split work?
For an eligible client, the ADP-registered vendor bills ADP 75% of the approved price and the client pays the remaining 25%, plus any extras that are not on the ADP list. People on Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD can be covered at 100% of the approved price.
What is the assessment process?
An ADP-registered OT or PT measures the person, names the category and the device, and completes the clinical part of the application. Westin helps finish the form and submits it. Do not buy the chair first. A device ordered before those steps is not reimbursed.
How long does ADP take?
Ontario aims to review a mobility-aid application within 8 weeks of receiving it. Sunrise then builds the chair to the approved form. We will give you a delivery date once the chair is released.
Can I try a QX before the order is placed?
Come into a Brampton or Toronto store and we will show you a Category 2 folding chair so you can feel the fold, the brakes, and the seat width. A floor chair may not match the final colour or size. A therapist may also trial equipment during the assessment.
How should the seat width fit?
Measure the seated hip width and leave a little room on each side. Sunrise lists 14 to 20 inches wide and 14 to 20 inches deep on the QX. Wider Built-4-Me sizes exist on the Canada form. Those numbers come from the assessment.
What is the weight capacity?
Sunrise lists 300 lb for the QX. Stay at or under that rating. If the person is near 300 lb, tell us before paperwork starts.
Will the QX fold into a car?
Yes, the frame folds. Sunrise prints a 16.8 lb transport weight and a 28 lb overall weight. Two people and a larger trunk or hatch make the lift easier. Come into a store if you want to try the fold on your vehicle. Do not use the chair as a seat in a moving vehicle unless a confirmed transit kit is on the order.
What happens if ADP declines the application?
Ontario sends a letter with the reason and the appeal steps. Westin will sit down with you, look at the letter, and talk through an appeal, a different category, or a non-ADP route. We do not order the custom chair until the path is clear.
What is the warranty on the QX?
The Sunrise brochure prints Limited Lifetime for the original purchaser. Coverage can vary by province. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
