Description
The PPS Lift is an air-assisted floor-to-bed lift. It raises a person who is lying on their back from the floor to bed or stretcher height. Patient Positioning Systems makes it. Savaria Patient Care lists it for North America. Westin Healthcare quotes it, delivers it, and shows the first use for homes and care rooms in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
This is not a sling hoist and not a sit-to-stand lift. If the person needs a conventional floor lift with a boom and a sling, start with the Span America F400, the Handicare Carina 350, or the Beka CARLO. PPS Glide is a separate lateral air-transfer mattress that can sit on this lift after the person is up. It is not a size of the PPS Lift.
Who it is for
This lift is for a person who cannot help with a vertical lift after a fall, or whose weight or girth makes a manual floor pickup unsafe for the people helping. The manufacturer's user manual names hospitals, long-term care, and extended care. The person stays supine. The working load is 1,200 lb (544 kg).
The same manual says to use a minimum of two caregivers. Extra caregivers are recommended when you move a person over 250 lb (113 kg). We follow that note. We will not promise that one person is enough.
- Floor recovery when the person should stay on their back
- Rooms where a boom floor lift or a ceiling lift cannot get in
- Users inside 1,200 lb, including bariatric care, when a supine air lift is the right method
The manual lists a contraindication: unstable thoracic, cervical, or lumbar fractures, unless the team uses a spinal board and follows facility protocol.
What you get and how it lifts
You get the PPS Lift in the width on your quote, with eight transport handles and two patient safety straps. The PPS Air Supply blower is required and is quoted with the lift. A PPS Glide mattress is a separate product.
The caregivers place the deflated lift on the floor beside the person and log-roll them on, feet toward the valve end. Safety straps go on loosely; they tighten as the chambers fill. The hose plugs into one inlet. The blower fills all four chambers from that single point. When the lift is full, the hose comes off and the valve closes on its own. The chambers must be fully inflated before anyone treats the lift as stable.
To lower the person, open the uppermost red deflate valve (valve 4) first, then work down one chamber at a time. Do not open more than one chamber at once. Move the inflated lift only by the transport handles, slowly, and never on an uninflated unit. Do not leave a person unattended on an inflated lift. Do not pull on the safety straps.
If a PPS Glide will be used for the next move onto the bed, centre both the person and the Glide on the Lift, and keep the Glide deflated until the Lift is up. The same blower then inflates the Glide.
PPS Lift specifications
These figures are for the PPS Lift, codes 3061-500-L32 and 3061-500-L39. They come from Savaria's brochure and the PPS Lift User Manual, August 2021, Rev. 1. The specification tab holds the stored values. Choose Width sets which row applies. Both widths share the same working load.
Both widths: 1,200 lb (544 kg) safe working load, 72 in (183 cm) long, 30 in (76 cm) inflated height, 7.5 in (19 cm) per chamber, four chambers, nylon-oxford top, Teflon-infused polyester underside, RF-welded, latex free. The Savaria brochure states the lift is radiolucent and MRI-compatible. Warranty on the user manual is 1 year from the in-service date or the shipment date.
A sling-hoist lift range, a fold, or a carry-bar width belongs on a boom floor lift, not on the PPS Lift. PPS Glide mattress widths are quoted on the Glide, not as a third width here.
Width
Use Width to pick the factory code. This listing is quote-only. There is no extra on either row.
- 3061-500-L32: PPS Lift 32" is 32 in (81 cm) wide.
- 3061-500-L39: PPS Lift 39" is 39 in (99 cm) wide.
Ask us which width fits the person and the bed or stretcher you will transfer onto. The blower is quoted with the lift on either width.
Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts or other lifting devices. Funding routes that can help when the eligibility criteria fit: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship funding programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this lift across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, unpack it, and show you the air supply, the single inflation point, the safety straps, and the deflation sequence before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a lift first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our patient lift rental service; purchased lifts are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
Patient lifts of this class are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the lift is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Can I rent a patient lift before I buy?
Yes. If you only need a lift for a recovery, or you want to live with a lift before you buy, rent first. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub and the patient lift rentals page. Westin rents electric floor lifts across Brampton and the GTA.
Rental packages include an electric floor lift and a sling. For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice. Ask us whether an air-assisted lift is on the rental fleet for your dates. The rental unit may be a different model.
If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.
Which lift this is
Pick the PPS Lift when the person needs a supine floor-to-bed recovery inside 1,200 lb and a boom lift cannot do that job in the room. Stay with a sibling when a sling hoist is the better fit:
- Span America F400: foldable 400 lb full-body sling lift with a six-point bar. Use it when 400 lb and a fold are enough.
- Handicare Carina 350: foldable Handicare full-body lift at 350 lb, compact for a closet or a car.
- Beka CARLO: aluminum hospital-grade full-body sling lift when you want a conventional boom, not an air jack.
PPS Glide is the companion lateral mattress for the next move onto the bed or stretcher. Ask us to quote it beside this lift. It is not sold as a width of the PPS Lift.
This lift does not use a sling or a spreader bar. Shop slings only if you are moving to one of the floor lifts above: full-body slings and universal slings.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the lift needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
PPS manufacturer warranty
The PPS Lift user manual warrants the lift against defects in materials and workmanship for 1 year from the in-service date or the shipment date. That warranty is not a lifetime guarantee. Damage from misuse, unauthorized repair, or normal wear on valve caps and cords is not covered. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
Does ADP cover patient lifts in Ontario?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program does not cover patient lifts. Other funding routes may still help, depending on the person and the assessment, including ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship programs. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will check which path fits before anyone starts paperwork.
What is the safe working load of the PPS Lift?
Savaria and PPS print 1,200 lb (544 kg). Stay inside that number for the person plus anything on the lift. If a PPS Glide is on top, we will confirm that mattress rating on the quote. Use the lower of the two.
How is the PPS Lift different from PPS Glide?
The PPS Lift raises a person from the floor to bed height. PPS Glide is a lateral air-transfer mattress used to slide a person from one surface to another. They can work together and they share a blower. They are not the same product. Glide is quoted separately.
How is the PPS Lift different from the F400, Carina 350, or CARLO?
Those are boom floor lifts that use a sling. The PPS Lift is an inflatable supine jack. Choose a boom lift when a seated or recumbent sling transfer is the plan. Choose the PPS Lift when the person is on the floor and should stay on their back while they come up to bed height.
Does a blower come with the lift?
The PPS Air Supply is a required accessory. We quote it with the lift. Confirm on the quote whether it ships in the same carton or as a second line.
Can one caregiver operate the PPS Lift?
The user manual requires a minimum of two caregivers. Extra caregivers are recommended when moving a person over 250 lb. We follow that note. We will not promise that one person is enough.
What widths are available?
32 in (3061-500-L32) and 39 in (3061-500-L39). Both are 72 in long and 30 in high when inflated, and both are 1,200 lb. Ask us which width fits the person and the receiving bed or stretcher.
Can the PPS Lift be used after a fall?
Yes. The intended use is a supine lift from the floor to bed or stretcher height, including after a fall, when the person cannot help with a vertical lift. We will still walk through the first use with you.
Is the PPS Lift MRI compatible?
The Savaria brochure states that the lift is radiolucent and MRI-compatible and does not leave image artifacts. Follow the imaging department's own rules for the blower and any metal cart.
Can I rent a patient lift before buying?
Yes. See current packages and rates on the patient lift rentals page. Ask us whether an air-assisted unit is on the rental fleet for your dates. The rental lift may be a different model. If you later buy, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program.
What is the warranty on the PPS Lift?
PPS prints 1 year from in-service or shipment date for defects in materials and workmanship. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
