Description
The Medcare Care Sling is Savaria Patient Care's general-purpose seated transfer sling. It is a loop sling with a 4-point hook-up, colour-coded size straps, and a 1000 lb (454 kg) safe working load on every size. Westin Healthcare quotes it and fits it in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area on a matching loop carry bar.
You can apply and remove it with the person in a chair. Choose ripstop polyester for everyday transfers, mesh for bathing, or a patient-specific disposable. A head-support version is there when the person has weak or poor head control. If you need a Handicare seated loop sling rather than this Medcare cut, start with the Handicare Universal Sling.
Who this sling is for
This sling is for a person who needs a general seated transfer from bed, chair, or commode. Medcare designed it to fit most body shapes. A clinician or our staff must confirm the size and fabric before first use.
- Everyday seated transfers on a loop carry bar
- People who can be slung from a chair without first lying down
- Weak or poor head control, when you pick a head-support article
- Bathing, showering, or a pool, when you pick mesh or disposable
- A person whose own weight stays inside 1000 lb and inside the lift's own rating
What you get
You get one sling in the size, fabric, and head-support choice on your quote. The sling is a divided-leg seated cut with positioning handles on the back and colour-coded straps. A lift and carry bar are not in the carton.
Three fabrics ship on this card:
- Ripstop polyester for regular use. A puncture will not run across the fabric.
- Mesh for bathing, showering, or a pool
- Disposable, made for one person. It is breathable, so it may stay under that person. Spot-clean only. Once it is washed, it is no longer safe.
Polyester and mesh include antimicrobial protection. Disposable articles do not. Standard hook-up crosses the leg straps between the legs. The alternate hook-up crosses both straps under both legs when inner-thigh skin needs a smaller opening.
Medcare Care Sling specifications
These figures are for the Medcare Care Sling, not the Multi-Purpose Sling and not the Handicare Universal Sling. The specification tab holds the stored values.
Safe working load is 1000 lb (454 kg) on every size and every fabric. Attachment is loop. The 4-point hook-up seats on a 2-point, 4-point, or 6-point loop carry bar. It does not use clip fasteners or Human Care E-clip / mushroom bars. Wash polyester and mesh at a maximum of 165 F (74 C) and dry at a maximum of 175 F (79 C). Manufacturer warranty is 6 months from the date marked on the sling tag.
Sizes and fabrics
Use the Size and fabric selector to put one factory code on your quote. The weight bands below are a starting point. Height and width change the fit. Confirm the size with a clinician or our staff before first use.
| Size | Strap colour | Weight guide | Polyester | Mesh | Disposable |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small | Black | 0-100 lb (0-45 kg) | 400018 | 400008 | 600018 |

| X-Large | White | 310-450 lb (141-204 kg) | 400017 | 400011 | 600017 |
| Bariatric | Purple | 450-1000 lb (295-454 kg) | 400015 | 400014 | 600015 |
Head-support articles use their own codes: polyester 400028-400036, mesh 400038-400043 and 400041, disposable 600028-600036. The default on this card is 400020, Medium Polyester without head support.
This listing is quote-only. The sling you pick is the article on the quote. A lift is sold separately.
Care and laundering
Polyester and mesh: machine wash in a soap solution at or under 165 F (74 C). Rinse thoroughly. Hang dry or tumble dry at or under 175 F (79 C). Do not overload the dryer. Do not place the sling against the dryer heat source. Do not dry clean. Do not use bleach. Wipe it between washes with a standard disinfectant. Inspect loops, seams, and fabric before every use and after every wash. Remove the sling from service if you find fraying, a tear, a burn, or loose stitching.
Disposable: do not put it in a washer. Spot-clean or spray-disinfect. Replace it when it is soiled. Average life of a reusable Medcare sling is 6 months to 3 years and depends on wash, dry, detergent, weight, and incontinence.
Delivery in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team can deliver this sling across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, on its own or with a loop-lift setup. We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a sling first. For a scheduled drop-off or a fitting, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works.
This is a small carton. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods can apply when it ships without a lift. If it travels with a patient lift, the lift is oversized and White-Glove Delivery is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Which lifts this sling fits
The Medcare Care Sling is a loop sling. Medcare designed and tested it for Medcare lifts with a loop carry bar, including the Medcare Care Lift family, and for other lifts that use a 2-point, 4-point, or 6-point loop carry bar. Colour-coded loops seat on the carry-bar hooks. It does not use a clip bar or a Human Care E-clip.
On our floor that is a Handicare loop carry bar on the Handicare C450, the Handicare C625, the Handicare A450, or the two-point SlingBar on the Handicare Carina 350. Match the sling's 1000 lb rating to the motor. The finished system is limited by the lowest rating among the lift, the carry bar, and the sling.
This sling is for a seated transfer on a loop carry bar. A Medcare Car Extractor uses Care Stand Belts on its own 2-point bar. Sit-to-stand thorax slings belong on a sit-to-stand lift. Shop related styles in full-body slings, universal slings, and divided-leg slings.
Service and warranty
When something on the sling needs work, you call the shop that sold it, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department.
Medcare manufacturer warranty
Medcare warrants slings and belts against defective material or stitching that pulls away for 6 months from the date marked on the sling tag. Removing or altering that tag voids the warranty. The term applies in Canada. We handle the claim with you.
Frequently asked questions
What model is this?
It is the Medcare Care Sling, listed by Savaria Patient Care. Polyester codes start 4000, mesh codes start 4000, and disposable codes start 6000. The default article is 400020 Medium Polyester. It is not the Multi-Purpose Sling and not the Handicare Universal Sling.
Is this a loop sling or a clip sling?
Loop. Colour-coded loops on a 2-point, 4-point, or 6-point loop carry bar. It does not use clip fasteners or Human Care E-clips.
What is the safe working load?
1000 lb (454 kg) on every size and every fabric. The finished system is limited by the lowest rating among the lift, the bar, and the sling.
Which size should I order?
Use the weight bands above as a starting point, then confirm with a clinician or our staff before first use. Two people at the same weight can need different sizes. We will match the selector to one manufacturer article.
Does it fit a C450, A450, or Carina 350?
Yes. Those Handicare motors use loop carry-bar hooks. It also fits the C625. It does not fit a Human Care E-clip bar or a sit-to-stand thorax bar.
How is this different from the Universal Sling?
The Handicare Universal Sling is the general seated loop sling in the Handicare family. This card is the Medcare Care Sling, a divided-leg seated sling with optional head support and a disposable option. Start with Universal when you already run Handicare loop slings and want that family.
When do I need head support?
Pick a head-support article when the person has weak or poor head control. The default 400020 does not include head support. Head-support codes are listed in the Size and fabric selector.
Can the sling stay under the person?
Only the disposable fabric is breathable and may stay under the person. Polyester and mesh come off after the transfer unless a clinician writes another plan.
Can I use it for bathing?
Yes, when you order mesh or disposable. Those fabrics may be used for bathing, showering, or a pool. Use polyester for dry everyday transfers.
How do I wash it?
Polyester and mesh: wash at or under 165 F (74 C) and dry at or under 175 F (79 C). No bleach. Disposable: spot-clean only and replace it when soiled. Inspect loops and seams after every wash.
Does funding cover a sling in Ontario?
Slings follow the funding path of the lift they are used with. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will check the lift and the sling together.
