Description
The Handicare Bure Transfer Plate, Long is the long foot platform for Handicare's SystemRoMedic Bure stand tall walkers, manufacturer code 56-383-DB. Westin Healthcare stocks it in Brampton and ships it across the Greater Toronto Area.
It does one thing. The user stands at the walker with their feet on the plate instead of on the floor, and the caregiver moves the walker with the user on board. Handicare's own phrasing in the Bure Rise & Go manual is that the walker can be used to advantage with a platform to facilitate patient transportation. It turns a walking aid into a short-distance transport aid without turning it into a wheelchair.
Three names, one part
This is worth clearing up before anything else, because Handicare's own documents do not agree with each other:
- The instructions for use for the Bure Double 2.0 and the Bure Rise & Go DB both call it a standing plate.
- The Handicare North America brochure calls it a platform.
- The SystemRoMedic catalogue calls it a transfer plate, which is the name on our pricelist and the one at the top of this page.
All three describe 56-383-DB. If your paperwork says standing plate and your technician says platform, you are all talking about this.
Which walkers it fits, and the one it does not
Read this before ordering. Bure platforms are frame-specific, and three Bure walkers are on our site at once.
| Walker | Does 56-383-DB fit? | What it takes instead |
|---|---|---|
| Bure Double 2.0 | Yes | n/a |
| Bure Rise & Go DB | Yes | n/a |
| Bure XL | No | 56-386, Platform XL |
| Bure Standard | No | 56-383-STD |
The Bure XL is the one that catches people out. It is a Bure, it looks like the others, and its frame is 890 mm wide where the Double 2.0's closes to 640 mm. Its platform is a different part with a different number. We do not stock 56-386 yet, so if you have an XL, call (905) 451-7743 and we will bring the right one in.
How to read a Bure part number
Once you know the pattern, you can decode your own paperwork:
- -DB is the double-drive frame: the Bure Double 2.0 and the Bure Rise & Go DB.
- -STD is the Bure Standard and the Bure Low.
- -SPACE is the Bure Space.
- 56-386, with no suffix at all, is the Bure XL's own platform.
- /SW is the variant with castors. Handicare's catalogue footnote says so in as many words.
That last one matters commercially. This plate does not roll. If you want a platform on castors, the code is 56-383/SW-DB, which is a different part on a different order line. Tell us which behaviour you want and we will send the right one.
Long or short?
Handicare builds both: 56-383-DB is the long plate and 56-333-DB is the short one, and both fit the same two walkers.
No manufacturer document publishes the length of either. Not the instructions for use, not the North American brochure, not the GATE catalogue, not the SystemRoMedic catalogue. We would rather tell you that than print a number we cannot stand behind. If the choice between them matters for a specific user, call (905) 451-7743 and we will get the dimensions from Savaria before you order.
As a general rule the long plate suits a taller user and a wider stance, and the short one suits a tighter room and a smaller footprint. That is guidance from handling the machines, not a manufacturer statement, and it is not a substitute for the measurement.

Handicare publishes no length, width, material, mass or load rating for this code. If a facility needs any of those for a maintenance or procurement file, call us and we will request them from Savaria rather than estimate. What is published is the walker's rating, and the usual rule applies: the lowest rating in the assembly governs the whole assembly, so a plate on a Bure Double 2.0 works to 150 kg (330 lb).
Using it safely
Two things from Handicare's own procedure are worth repeating here, because the plate changes both of them.
First, the setup. The Bure Rise & Go fitting procedure reads: place the user's legs at a 90 degree angle with their feet on the floor or platform, then adjust the shin supports to the user's shins, avoiding pressure on the patellae and patellar tendons. The plate changes the height the feet start from, so the shin supports need resetting when it is fitted, not just when the user changes.
Second, the brakes. A walker carrying a standing user on a platform is a heavier, taller thing to steer than a walker somebody is walking behind. Set the castor brakes before the user steps on and before they step off, keep to flat indoor floors, and take thresholds slowly. Handicare also sells a heel strap for the platform, 58-328-1, if the user's feet tend to slide back.
Related Bure parts and walkers
- The Bure 75 mm castor (57-051), the replacement wheel for the same walkers. It has no brake; the braked version is 56-387.
- The Bure Double 2.0 and the Bure Rise & Go DB, the two walkers this plate fits.
- The Bure XL, rated 240 kg (529 lb), which takes 56-386 instead.
- Our other walker parts are on the walker accessories shelf, and the walkers themselves are on the walkers and rollators hub.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Accessories ship on our standard service. Westin's own team delivers across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, and you are welcome to visit our Brampton showroom, or Mobility Specialties, our partner store in Etobicoke.
Call (905) 451-7743 with your walker model before ordering, and we will confirm the frame and the variant. If we are delivering a Bure walker at the same time, we fit the plate and reset the shin supports before we leave. Shipping terms are on the shipping policy page, and any charge is confirmed on your order.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the walker needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not an overseas parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department, and our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Handicare warranty on accessories
Handicare publishes no standalone warranty document for Bure accessories. The instruction that governs is in every Bure manual: repairs and maintenance may only be done by authorised personnel using original spare parts, accessories must be properly fitted and tested in relation to the user's needs and functional ability, and the walker must undergo a thorough inspection at least once per year. Ask us for the terms that ship with your order.
Frequently asked questions
What is a transfer plate for?
The user stands on it instead of on the floor, so the caregiver can move the walker with the user on board over a short distance. Handicare describes it as a platform used to advantage with the walker to facilitate patient transportation.
Will it fit my Bure XL?
No. The XL's platform is 56-386, a different part sized to its 890 mm frame. This one fits the Bure Double 2.0 and the Bure Rise & Go DB. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will bring in the XL platform for you.
Does it have wheels?
No. The castored version is a different code, 56-383/SW-DB. In Handicare's numbering, /SW is the variant with castors.
How long is it?
Handicare does not publish a length for either the long or the short plate, so we do not print one. If the difference matters for a specific user, call us and we will request the dimensions from Savaria before you order.
What is the difference between a standing plate and a transfer plate?
Nothing. They are two names Handicare uses for the same part in different documents, along with "platform". All three refer to 56-383-DB.
Can I fit it myself?
We would rather fit it, and reset the shin supports at the same time. The plate changes the height the user's feet start from, so the shin support setting has to be redone. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
What does DB mean in the part number?
The double-drive frame: the Bure Double 2.0 and the Bure Rise & Go DB. Other Bure frames use -STD, -SPACE or, for the XL, a completely different code.
Does it change what the walker can carry?
Handicare publishes no separate rating for the plate. The rule that applies to any assembly is that the lowest rating among the parts governs the whole, so on a Bure Double 2.0 or a Bure Rise & Go DB you work to 150 kg (330 lb).
Is a heel strap available?
Yes. Handicare lists 58-328-1, a heel strap for the platform, for the Bure Standard, Low, Space and Double 2.0 frames. Ask us for it if the user's feet tend to slide back on the plate.
