Description
The Handicare Bure DB Transfer Plate, Short is Direct Healthcare Group's short foot platform for the Bure DB walker chassis, manufacturer code 56-333-DB. It hooks onto the front of the walker so the user can be wheeled along a corridor with their feet resting on the plate instead of walking every step. Westin Healthcare ships it across Canada and fits it on a service visit across Brampton and the GTA.
This is the short plate for the DB chassis, and it is the plain version, without castors of its own. Read the ordering grid below before you buy: Bure plates are built per chassis and a plate for the wrong family will not hook on.
What a transfer plate is for
A Bure walker does three jobs: it stands the person up, it supports them while they walk, and it moves them from one room to another. The transfer plate is what makes the third job possible. The user's feet go on the plate instead of on the floor, so a caregiver can wheel them along a corridor without asking them to take a single step.
Direct Healthcare Group puts it plainly in the catalogue: the platform is an excellent addition when you want to use the walker for mobility, standing up and patient transits, and the platform is narrow enough for use on most wheelchairs. In most cases it will also fit between a wheelchair's front castors, which is what lets the walker come in close enough to collect somebody who is sitting down.
The plate hooks onto the main frame of the walker. The manufacturer's fitting instruction is one sentence long: attach the standing plate by the hooks on the main frame of the walker. It comes off the same way when the walker is being used purely for walking practice, and the manual tells you to swing the shin supports aside for more walking room once the plate is off.
Which walker it fits
Direct Healthcare Group publishes a fitment matrix for every Bure accessory. Against 56-333-DB it marks one chassis family:
| Bure walker | Fits this part | Sold by Westin |
|---|---|---|
| Bure Rise & Go DB | Yes | Yes |
| Bure Double 2.0 | Yes | Yes |
| Bure Rise & Go (single actuator) | No, takes the STD plate | No |
| Bure Standard, Bure S, Bure Low | No, takes the STD plate | No |
| Bure Space | No, takes the SPACE plate | No |
| Bure XL | No, takes plate 56-386 | Yes |
The two walkers in that first pair are the ones Westin sells, so if your Bure came from us and its legs widen electrically from the hand control, this is your plate.
Short and long, with castors or without
Direct Healthcare Group builds the Bure plate in a small grid, and the code you order decides all three of the variables. Get one wrong and the plate will not hook on.
- Short or long. The short plate is the compact one. The long plate gives more foot room and a longer stance.
- With castors or without. The manufacturer's own footnote in the accessory matrix reads: /SW is variant with castors. A plate with the SW suffix carries its own castors, so its weight goes onto the floor rather than being cantilevered off the walker frame. Savaria lists that variant as the swivel wheels version.
- Which chassis. The suffix after the number is the walker family. DB is the double actuator chassis, which is the Bure Rise & Go DB and the Bure Double 2.0. STD is the Bure Standard, Bure S, Bure Low and the single-actuator Bure Rise & Go. SPACE is the Bure Space. Bure XL has a plate of its own, 56-386.
The full grid as Direct Healthcare Group prints it:
| Plate | DB chassis | STD chassis | Space chassis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Short, no castors | 56-333-DB | 56-333-STD | 56-333-SPACE |
| Short, castors | 56-333/SW-DB | 56-333/SW-STD | 56-333/SW-SPACE |
| Long, no castors | 56-383-DB | 56-383-STD | 56-383-SPACE |
| Long, castors | 56-383/SW-DB | 56-383/SW-STD | 56-383/SW-SPACE |
If you are not sure which chassis you have, look at the walker rather than the paperwork. The DB machines widen their legs electrically from the hand control. Call (905) 451-7743 with the serial number and we will identify it for you before anything ships.

Direct Healthcare Group rates the plate at the same 150 kg (330 lb) as the walker itself. The rule the manufacturer prints in the manual still applies: check that any accessory fitted to the walker is properly attached before use, and never leave the user alone during a transfer. The walker and everything on it is for indoor use.
Short plate or long plate
Both plates do the same job and the difference is foot room. The short plate keeps the overall footprint of the walker down, which matters in a bathroom or a tight resident room, and it is easier to lift on and off single-handed. The long plate gives a wider stance and more room for large feet or for a person who cannot bring their feet close together.
If the plate is going on and off several times a shift, the short one is easier to live with. If it is staying on and the walker is mostly used for transits, the long one is more comfortable to stand on. Ask us and we will talk it through against the person and the room.
Related parts and walkers
The walkers this plate fits are the Bure Rise & Go DB, the power rise walker with electric frame widening, and the Bure Double 2.0. Westin stocks both, and both sit on the patient lifts hub with the rest of our transfer equipment.
Worth ordering at the same time: the Bure lower leg support for the shins, the Bure side support for a user who lists to one side, and the Bure oxygen holder or the Bure drip rod when the person travels with a cylinder or a line. Other spare parts and hardware sit on the lift parts shelf.
Walking aids of every other kind are on the walking aids page, and our walkers page carries the everyday rollators and folding frames.

Warranty and inspection
Direct Healthcare Group states in the Bure instructions for use that the warranty applies only if repairs or alterations are made by personnel authorized by Direct Healthcare Group, and that repairs and maintenance may only be done by authorized personnel using original spare parts. No year count is printed in the manual, so ask us for the current terms that ship with your serial number and we will handle a claim with you.
The manufacturer also requires the walker to undergo a thorough inspection at least once every twelve months, performed by authorized personnel and in accordance with Direct Healthcare Group's instructions. Accessories are part of that inspection: the manual tells you to verify that any accessory fitted to the walker is properly attached before use, and to test it against the user's needs and functional ability. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department and our technicians come to the home or the facility.
Frequently asked questions
What part number should I order?
56-333-DB. The DB suffix is the chassis family, not a colour or a finish. 56-333-STD is the same short plate for the Bure Standard family and it will not hook onto a DB walker.
What does the plate actually do?
It gives the user somewhere to put their feet so a caregiver can wheel them instead of walking them. Direct Healthcare Group describes it as the addition that lets you use the walker for mobility, standing up and patient transits.
Will it fit my Bure Standard or Bure XL?
No. The Bure Standard, Bure S and Bure Low take the STD plate, the Bure Space takes the SPACE plate, and the Bure XL has its own plate, 56-386. Only the Bure Rise & Go DB and the Bure Double 2.0 take 56-333-DB.
Does this one have castors?
No. This is the plain plate. The variant with castors carries the SW suffix, so the short one with castors is 56-333/SW-DB and the long one with castors is 56-383/SW-DB.
Do I need tools to fit it?
No. The manufacturer's instruction is to attach the standing plate by the hooks on the main frame of the walker. It lifts off the same way.
Can the walker still be used for walking practice with the plate fitted?
Take the plate off first. The manual says that when a platform is not being used you swing the shin supports away to give the user more walking room, which is the opposite of what you want while the plate is on.
What weight is it rated for?
150 kg (330 lb), the same as the walker. Remember the general rule for assembled equipment: the lowest rating in the assembly is the rating of the whole thing.
Will the walker still get close to a wheelchair with the plate on?
Yes, in most cases. Direct Healthcare Group notes that the platform is narrow enough for use on most wheelchairs and that it will usually fit between a wheelchair's front castors.
Should I order the short or the long one?
Short for a tight room and for a plate that comes on and off often, long for more foot room and for a walker that mostly does transits. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will help you pick.
