Description
The Span F450T is a manual standing transfer aid. Span-America is a Savaria company. Westin Healthcare quotes it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes and care rooms in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The optional support belt is sold separately.
This is not a powered sit-to-stand. There is no boom, no battery, and no sit-to-stand sling on a carry bar. Savaria writes that it is the ideal solution for patients with the ability to participate in their own transfers, and that the person must be able to pull themselves up into standing, lower themselves safely into the seated position, and bear weight while standing. For patients who do not meet those criteria, Savaria says a powered lift should be used. That powered Span sibling is the Span F500S (500 lb sit-to-stand). If you want a non-powered aid we already sell, see the Handicare ReTurn, the QuickMove, or the Mover Plus.
Who it is for
This aid is for a person who can still take part. Savaria's current card lists three tests: pull up into standing, lower safely onto the seat, and bear weight while standing. Span's owner manual adds that the person needs enough leg and lower-body strength to stand and remain standing or sitting, and enough arm strength if they must use the crossbar. Span writes that the F450T is for users who need minimum assistance. If those tests fail, start with a powered sit-to-stand such as the F500S, or a full-body floor lift.
Span names bed-to-chair and bed-or-chair-to-commode transfers, and short room-to-room moves. The literature also names it as a toileting alternative instead of a wheelchair. The owner manual says not to use it for long-distance transport, and not to use it for seating over a long period. Never leave the person unattended during the transfer.
- Home or care-room transfers when the person can pull up, sit down, and take their own weight
- Users within Savaria's 450 lb (205 kg) safe working load
- Rooms that need a 3.6 in front-end base to go under a low bed, and a base that opens around a chair or commode
What you get
The F450T is a manual standing transfer aid. The caregiver opens the base with the foot pedal, locks the rear casters, and swings the two padded seats up so the person can step onto the non-slip footplate. The person's knees rest in the dual contoured shin pads. They grasp the crossbar closest to them and pull themselves up using their own strength. The caregiver then lowers both seat pads to form a two-sided seat. The person sits, still holding the bar. Unlock the casters and steer from the far crossbar to the next surface.
Span's owner manual says to lower both seat halves before the person sits, and to keep the knees in the pads and both hands on the bar while they sit down. The IFU describes transfers that require minimal caregiver assistance. We will not promise that one person is enough.
This listing is quote-only. You get the F450T aid with the swing-away padded seats, shin pads, non-slip footplate, grip bars, and locking rear casters. Tools for assembly are included. A support belt, extra seat locks, and spare casters are quoted separately.
Span F450T specifications
These figures are for Westin SKU F450T. The specification tab holds the stored values. Span's current product literature prints a 450 lb (205 kg) safe working load, a 43.2 in overall height, a 35.5 in base length, a seat height of 26 in to 33.5 in, a 3.6 in front-end base height, a 32 in open internal leg width, a 27.7 in closed external leg width, a 20 in handlebar width, a 78 lb (35.2 kg) net weight, and a 93 lb (42 kg) shipping weight.
The aid is manual. There is no battery and no actuator. It conforms to ISO 12182:2012. Warranty on the current Span literature is 3 years on the frame. The owner manual also lists 2 years on Stand Aids and casters, and 6 months on reusable fabric slings. Foam parts and caster tread are excluded.
Do not read the F500S powered sit-to-stand numbers, or the ReTurn, QuickMove, or Mover Plus numbers, onto this aid. Those are different listings.
Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts or other lifting devices. Funding routes that can help when the eligibility criteria fit: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship funding programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this standing transfer aid across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the seat flip, the foot pedal, the caster locks, and the optional belt hooks before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see an aid first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our patient lift rental service; purchased aids are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
This standing transfer aid is oversized compared with small parcel goods. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If it is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Can I rent a patient lift before I buy?
Yes. If you only need a lift for a recovery, or you want to live with a transfer aid before you buy, rent first. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub and the patient lift rentals page. Westin rents electric floor lifts across Brampton and the GTA. Ask us whether a standing transfer aid is on the rental fleet for your dates.
For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice.
If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.
Which support belt this aid fits
The F450T has no spreader bar. Support is the crossbar, the shin pads, the footplate, and the swing-away seats. Span's owner manual names an optional safety belt for extra upper-body support: SL-SA669 Standard or SL-SA669B Extra Large, hooked on the frame. The belt is sold separately. Stay inside 450 lb on both the aid and the belt, and never exceed the lowest rating of the two.
Do not put a sit-to-stand boom sling on this frame. Those slings belong on the Span F500S or the Handicare MiniLift. The ReTurnBelt belongs on the Handicare ReTurn, not on this aid.
If the person can pull up and you want a rising ladder instead of seats, start with the ReTurn. If you want fold-down seat pads on a non-powered frame we already list, see the QuickMove. If you want a low platform with a crossbar, see the Mover Plus. If the person needs the actuator to do the rise, start with the F500S.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the aid needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Span-America manufacturer warranty
Span's F450T literature covers the original purchaser with 3 years on the frame. The owner manual also lists 2 years on Stand Aids and casters, and 6 months on reusable fabric slings. Foam parts and caster tread are excluded. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
Does funding cover a patient lift in Ontario?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts. Other routes can help when the person and the assessment fit, including ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship programs. Westin Healthcare works with those programs every week. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before anyone starts paperwork.
What is the safe working load of the Span F450T?
Savaria and Span print 450 lb (205 kg). Stay inside that number for the person plus anything they wear or hold. If the support belt is rated lower, the lower number wins.
Is the F450T powered?
No. Span's owner manual calls it a manual unit. There is no actuator and no battery. The person pulls themselves up on the crossbar. If they need a powered rise, see the Span F500S.
Who does Savaria say can use the F450T?
The person must be able to pull themselves up into standing, lower themselves safely onto the seat, and bear weight while standing. If they cannot do those three things, Savaria says a powered lift should be used.
How is the F450T different from the Span F500S?
The F450T is a 450 lb manual standing transfer aid with swing-away seats. The person does the rise. The F500S is a 500 lb powered sit-to-stand with a boom and a sit-to-stand sling. The actuator does the rise. They are not the same product.
How is the F450T different from the ReTurn, QuickMove, and Mover Plus?
The ReTurn is a rising ladder on a base plate, used with a ReTurnBelt. The QuickMove is a non-powered aid with fold-down seat pads at 375 lb. The Mover Plus is a 330 lb platform with a crossbar. The F450T is Span's 450 lb standing transfer aid with swing-away padded seats, shin pads, and a footplate for seated transport after the person stands.
Does a sling come with the F450T?
No. The aid is designed to support a seated person on the padded seats. Span names an optional support belt (SL-SA669 or SL-SA669B) for extra upper-body support. We will quote that belt if the assessment calls for it.
Can the F450T be used for a commode transfer?
Yes. Span lists it as a toileting alternative instead of a wheelchair, and the owner manual names bed, chair, wheelchair, and commode transfers. The base opens with the foot pedal around a chair or commode. Span also prints a 3.6 in front-end base for most low beds. We will still measure the commode, the bed, and the room before the first transfer.
Can I rent a patient lift before I buy?
Yes. Westin rents electric floor lifts. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub. Ask us whether a standing transfer aid is on the fleet for your dates. If you later buy, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program.
How fast can a purchased F450T be delivered in the GTA?
Westin's team delivers and sets up purchased aids across Brampton and the GTA on a scheduled date. Call (905) 451-7743 for the next opening. Same-day delivery belongs to the rental service, not automatically to a purchased aid.
What is included with the Span F450T?
You get the F450T standing transfer aid with swing-away padded seats, shin pads, non-slip footplate, grip bars, and locking rear casters. A support belt is not included. Westin Healthcare delivers and sets up across Brampton and the GTA.
