Description
The Switch-It Switched Head Arrays are zero-touch proximity head controls for a power wheelchair. Sensors sit in the pads and fire when the head comes close. They are built for power-chair electromagnetic fields. This control is configured with the power wheelchair through the seating clinic and the ADP process. Westin Healthcare quotes it on a Quickie or Zippie order for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Sunrise offers two families. HDR-4M2 is a three-switch array with two 1/8 inch jacks for a fourth and fifth function. HDR-5 is a five-switch array with reverse on the left or right wing and mode on the opposite wing. Dipswitches on the back can turn a sensor off.
What this control does
These arrays are switched, not proportional. The chair sees on or off at each pad. Wings come short or long, straight or curved (S-S, S-C, L-S, L-C). The five-switch array is long straight only, because of sensor placement. Mode switches include egg, MicroLite, or Piko on a 12 inch swing-away rod, or a fibre-optic switch on a gooseneck.
Electronics are R-Net with an Omni display, or Q-Logic with an Enhanced Display. Not Invacare. Hardware included is 1/2 inch square with a 1 inch ball, or Whitmyer Axys with a 3/4 inch ball.
Who it suits
A switched array suits a person who drives with the head and does well with simple on/off pads rather than analog force. If the person needs proportional speed from the head, see the Dual Pro. If the head cannot stay inside a chair-mounted array, see the Vigo.

Frequently asked questions
What Does A Switched Head Array Do?
A Switch-It switched head array uses zero-touch proximity sensors in the pads. The head coming close turns a direction on. It does not give analog speed the way the Dual Pro does.
What Is The Difference Between HDR-4M And HDR-5?
HDR-4M2 is a three-switch Switch-It array with two jacks for extra functions. HDR-5 is a five-switch array with reverse on one wing and mode on the other. The clinic picks the layout.
Which Power Chairs Take These Arrays?
Switch-It switched head arrays work with R-Net (Omni) and Q-Logic (Enhanced Display). They are not compatible with Invacare electronics.
Do I Have To Touch The Pads?
No. Switch-It switched head arrays are zero-touch proximity sensors. The head only has to come close enough for the sensor.
How Is This Different From The Dual Pro?
Switch-It switched arrays are on or off. The Dual Pro is a proportional head array that can also be programmed as switched.
Is This Sold Off The Shelf?
No. Switch-It switched head arrays are configured with the power wheelchair through the seating clinic and the ADP process.
What Is The Warranty?
Sunrise's Canada page says warranty coverage for Switch-It switched head arrays may vary by province. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
