Description

The Sunrise Medical Quickie 2 is a Category 3 folding wheelchair. Westin Healthcare configures it to an occupational therapist or physiotherapist prescription and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program lists Quickie 2 (VIP 2) as an Adult Lightweight Performance manual wheelchair under device code WMA3QU005. Sunrise Medical Canada still sells the Quickie 2 on its current folding lineup and still prints an August 2025 Canada order form. It is not an off-the-shelf chair that ships the same day you click buy.

Sunrise builds the Quickie 2 from 7000 series aluminum with a diamond-section crossbrace. The current Canada specification table lists a 25.4 lb chair, a 300 lb rating (350 lb heavy duty), and seat sizes from 12 to 24 inches wide and 12 to 22 inches deep. Centre of gravity adjusts 1 to 3.5 inches. An ADP-registered therapist assessment comes first. For eligible clients, ADP can fund 75 percent of the approved price.

Who this chair is for

This chair is for a person who needs a Category 3 folding frame with a wide option mix, who fits Sunrise's 300 lb rating (or the 350 lb heavy-duty package), and who will use the chair for six months or longer. Therapists pick the Quickie 2 when they want straight, rounded, or depth-adjustable rear frames and a seat range that can grow with True Fit.

If the therapist wants a simpler axle-plate fold with a lower 12.5 inch front seat, look at the Quickie QXi. If they want Ki Mobility or Future Mobility instead, see the Catalyst 5Vx and the Galaxy Lite. Quickie 2 Lite and Quickie 2 HP are related frames with different ADP codes. This chair is the standard Quickie 2, WMA3QU005.

  • A folding Category 3 chair built to prescription
  • Sunrise's 25.4 lb Quickie 2 frame and 300 lb rating
  • Someone who can self-propel, or who may be pushed

Design and build

The Quickie 2 uses 7000 series aluminum side frames and a four-bar diamond crossbrace. Rear frame types are straight, rounded, or depth-adjustable back. Q-Fit hardware on armrests, side guards, hanger latches, footrest clamps, and seat-rail saddles is meant to keep the fold quiet. Camber is 0, 2, or 4 degrees. Centre of gravity indexes 1 to 3.5 inches so both sides match.

Front ends swing in or out, lift off, or sit fixed. Casters run from 3 to 8 inches. Rear wheels include mag, spoke, and other Sunrise options on the order form. The frame folds for the car or a closet. A WC-19 transit system is on the Canada form. True Fit allows one growth kit within five years on the terms Sunrise prints.

  • Folding 7000 series aluminum frame, model EIQ2X
  • Straight, rounded, or depth-adjustable rear frame
  • Centre of gravity 1 to 3.5 inches
  • Swing-away, lift-off, or fixed hangers
  • Optional heavy-duty package to 350 lbs

Sunrise Quickie 2 specifications

These figures are for the standard Quickie 2 on Sunrise Medical Canada's current specification table and the August 2025 Canada order form, sold here under ADP code WMA3QU005. The specification tab holds the stored values. Do not mix them with Quickie 2 Lite (WMA3QU020, 265 lbs), Quickie 2 HP (WMA3QU010), or the QXi.

Seat width 12 to 24 inches. Seat depth 12 to 22 inches. Front seat-to-floor 13.5 to 22 inches. Rear seat-to-floor 13 to 22 inches. Back height 9 to 21 inches. Back angle -15 to +3 degrees. Product weight 25.4 lbs. Weight capacity 300 lbs, or 350 lbs with the heavy-duty package on 18 to 24 inch frames. Frame 7000 series aluminum.

Warranty for the original purchaser is lifetime on the frame and cross-brace, and one year on Sunrise-made parts. Wear items such as tires, tubes, upholstery, pads, and grips sit outside that term. The owner manual prints an anticipated useful service time of five years.

Colour, seat width, and seat depth

Use Color, Seat Width, and Seat Depth with your therapist to record the prescription. Those choices do not turn the Quickie 2 into a stocked cart item. Westin builds the chair after the ADP-registered assessment and the Sunrise order form are complete.

  • Color: the frame colour on the order
  • Seat Width: the seat width the therapist measures
  • Seat Depth: the seat depth the therapist measures

Sunrise's Canada page lists 24 colours and a 12 to 24 inch width range. Color, Seat Width, and Seat Depth show a shorter set. Ask us if the prescription is 12 to 15 inches, 23 or 24 inches, or a colour that is not shown. A Category 3 chair has large rear wheels so the person can self-propel. It is not a transport chair.

ADP funding for a Category 3 wheelchair in Ontario

This chair is an ADP-eligible category device. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) pays 75% of the approved price for eligible clients, and clients receiving Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD support can be covered for the full cost. The route starts with an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, who confirms the need and the right category before anything is ordered: a chair bought before approval is not reimbursed. Westin Healthcare works with ADP authorizers and submissions every week, configures the chair to the prescription, and walks you through the paperwork. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to start the conversation.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this chair across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area after the prescription is built. We bring it in, unfold it, and show you the wheel locks, the fold, and the axle and hanger setup before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a Category 3 frame first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty

When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace. ADP does not pay for repairs.

Sunrise Medical manufacturer warranty

Sunrise guarantees the Quickie 2 frame and cross-brace against defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the original purchaser, and warrants Sunrise-made parts for one year from first consumer purchase. Tires, tubes, upholstery, pads, and grips are outside that term. The warranty is not transferable. We handle the claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Quickie 2 still a current Sunrise chair?

Yes. Sunrise Medical Canada still lists the Quickie 2 Family on its folding page, still links an August 2025 Canada order form, and Ontario's January 2026 ADP product manual still funds Quickie 2 (VIP 2) as WMA3QU005. QS5 X is a newer folding sibling on a different ADP code. It did not remove the Quickie 2 from the catalogue.

What does Category 3 mean on the Quickie 2?

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program lists the Quickie 2 as an Adult Lightweight Performance manual wheelchair. Dealers often call that Category 3 or Type 3. The chair has centre-of-gravity adjustment, quick-release axles, and anti-tippers. At 25.4 lbs it sits on the 25 lb line some dealer charts use to split Category 3 and 4. The Ministry still files the folding Quickie 2 here, not as a rigid Category 4.

Who qualifies for ADP on this chair?

You must be an Ontario resident with a valid Ontario health card and a disability that needs a mobility aid for six months or longer. An ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist has to assess you before anyone orders the chair. Income is not part of the test. We cannot promise that a specific person will be approved.

How does the 75 / 25 split work?

For eligible clients, ADP pays 75 percent of the approved price and the person pays 25 percent. People on Ontario Works, ODSP, or Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities can be covered at 100 percent of that approved price. Extra items that sit outside the ADP chart are billed separately.

What is the assessment process?

Book an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist. They confirm the need, trial equipment where they can, and complete the application with Westin as the ADP-registered vendor. We submit the form. Do not buy the chair first. A chair bought before approval is not reimbursed.

How long does ADP take?

The ministry says it aims to review a mobility application within eight weeks of receiving it. That is ADP's stated aim, not a Westin delivery date. After approval we order the Sunrise frame to the prescription and book a setup date.

Can I try a Quickie 2 before the order?

Westin keeps assessment and trial equipment for therapists to use. Call (905) 451-7743 or come into a Brampton or Toronto store and we will see what is on the floor. A trial chair may not be the same colour or size as the chair that is later built for you.

How should the seat width fit?

The therapist measures seated hip width and leaves a little room on each side. Sunrise lists 12 to 24 inches. Use Seat Width for the sizes shown there, and ask us if the prescription is 12 to 15 inches or 23 to 24 inches.

What is the weight capacity?

Sunrise lists 300 lbs on the standard Quickie 2 and 350 lbs on the heavy-duty package. Stay at or under the rating on your order. The 265 lb figure belongs to Quickie 2 Lite, which is a different ADP code.

Will this chair fold into a car trunk?

The frame folds. Sunrise lists a 25.4 lb chair and a 50 lb average ship weight. We can show you the fold at delivery. The chair is not a car seat unless the WC-19 transit option is on the order and the vehicle is set up for it.

What is the warranty?

Lifetime on the frame and cross-brace for the original purchaser, and one year on Sunrise-made parts. Wear items are outside that term. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.

What happens if ADP declines the application?

ADP sends a letter with the reason and how to follow up, including an appeal. We will sit with you and the therapist on the next step. Other routes such as March of Dimes Canada or Veterans Affairs Canada may still help.
