Description
The Handicare External Charger, Linak is the external mains charger Handicare lists for its SystemRoMedic patient lifts, manufacturer code 70200029. It runs on 100 to 240 V AC at 50 or 60 Hz and charges at a maximum of 400 mA. Handicare lists it for all models and variants of MiniLift, for the Eva450 and Eva600, for the Carina350 and for the Vega505EE. Westin Healthcare ships it across Canada and delivers across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Order it as 70200029. Handicare names the charger in the Eva series technical data as a Linak CH01, with the internal reference 9000368. 70200029 is the code to quote.
What an external charger is for
Most current Handicare lifts charge on board: you plug the lift in and the battery charges where it sits. That is convenient and it has one consequence, which is that a charging lift is a lift nobody can use.
An external charger breaks that link. The battery pack comes off the lift and goes on charge on its own, a second pack goes onto the lift, and the lift stays in service. On a floor that runs transfers through the evening and charges overnight that makes no difference at all. On a floor that runs transfers around the clock it is the difference between having a lift and waiting for one.
The second use is simpler. Not every lift and every build has built-in charging. Handicare's Eva technical information table lists the external Linak CH01 against the Eva400 and built-in charging against the Eva450 and Eva600, which is why the external charger appears in the accessory list of one lift and the standard equipment of another.
- Charging a spare pack off the lift, so the lift stays available
- Charging a lift or build without on-board charging
- A second charging point, so a lift that moves between floors can be charged wherever it ends the shift
Which lifts it fits
Handicare's SystemRoMedic catalogue lists this code twice, once in each lift family:
| Source | Stated compatibility |
|---|---|
| SystemRoMedic catalogue, MiniLift section | For MiniLift200, MiniLift160 and MiniLift125 |
| SystemRoMedic catalogue, Eva section | For Eva450 and Eva600 |
| MiniLift160, MiniLift200 and MiniLift125 datasheets | External charger for all models and variants of MiniLift |
| Carina350 product folder | For Carina350 |
| Direct Healthcare Group product listing | Adds the Vega505EE |
The lifts we sell from those families are the Eva600EE, the Eva450EE with low legs, the Carina350EE, the Carina350EM, the MiniLift160EE and the MiniLift200. Tell us which one you have and we will confirm the charger before anything ships.
It is not a universal charger. Nothing published lists 70200029 against a Beka, Bure, Hoyer or Span-America lift, and this page does not claim it. Other manufacturers use their own chargers and their own battery chemistry. If you have a Beka Nora or a Beka Carlo, call us and we will quote the right part for that machine.

Handicare does not publish a charge time, a cable length, a plug type, a weight or an IP rating for the external charger, so none is claimed here. What is published is the mains range, the maximum charging current, the charger model and the fitment, and that is what the table above carries. If you need a figure for a facility electrical record, ask us and we will request it from the manufacturer.
Charging safely
Handicare prints two rules in the Eva manual that apply wherever the battery is charged, and both are worth putting in front of whoever plugs the lift in at the end of a shift.
- Release the emergency stop while charging. A pressed emergency stop prevents the battery charging.
- Do not charge in a wet room. The charger is mains equipment and a bathing room is the wrong place for it.
Handicare's other battery advice: charge for at least 4 hours before the first use, charge daily for maximum battery life, and press the emergency stop in if the lift is going to stand unused for a period. When the charger is connected the control box lamp shows a yellow light, and on a wall-mounted charger an LED on the front confirms the pack is seated.
When a pack finally fails, Handicare asks that used batteries be left at the nearest recycling station or returned to Handicare or a Handicare dealer for recycling. Hand them to our technicians on a service visit and we will deal with it.
Related lift parts
The other control part in this batch is the Hand Control HB33-6, Handicare's six-button pendant with service, battery status and overload indicators. If the floor weighs residents on the lift, the Charder MHS2500 lift scale hangs between the lift arm and the sling bar, and the bars themselves are the SlingBar range.
Other spare parts and lift hardware sit on the lift parts shelf, and every lift we stock is on the patient lifts hub.

Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the equipment needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not an overseas parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Handicare service and warranty position
Handicare requires that repairs and maintenance be done only by authorized personnel using original spare parts, and that the lift undergo a thorough inspection at least once per year, performed by authorized personnel and in accordance with Handicare's service manual. Our technicians are the people who do that here.
No warranty year count is printed for the charger in the documents Handicare publishes. Ask us for the terms that ship with your order and we will handle a claim with you.
If a lift will not charge, Handicare's own troubleshooting list is worth running before you call: check that the emergency stop is not pressed in, that all cables are properly and securely connected, and that the battery is not already flat beyond recovery. If it still will not charge, book through service and repairs and we will come out.
Frequently asked questions
Which lifts does this charger fit?
Handicare's SystemRoMedic catalogue lists it twice: in the MiniLift section as "External charger Linak, For MiniLift200/ MiniLift160/ MiniLift125", and in the Eva section as "External charger Linak, For Eva450/ Eva600". The MiniLift technical datasheets phrase it more broadly as "External charger for all models and variants of MiniLift". The Carina350 product folder lists it as "For Carina350", and Direct Healthcare Group's own listing adds the Vega505EE.
My Eva450 already charges on board. Why would I need this?
Two reasons. The first is that an external charger lets a battery pack charge off the lift, so the lift can stay in service on a second pack instead of standing on charge. The second is that it is the charger for lifts and builds without built-in charging: Handicare's Eva technical data lists the external Linak CH01 against the Eva400 and built-in charging against the Eva450 and Eva600.
What are the electrical figures?
Handicare publishes them in the Eva series technical information table for the external charger: mains voltage 100-240 V AC at 50 or 60 Hz, maximum 400 mA. That mains range means it works on Canadian supply without an adapter.
What charger is it, exactly?
Handicare names it in the Eva series technical data as a Linak CH01, with the internal reference 9000368. The Handicare orderable code is 70200029, which is what to quote when you order.
How long does a charge take?
Handicare does not publish a charge time for the external charger. What it does publish for the lift is to charge for at least 4 hours before the first use and to charge daily for maximum battery life. Ask us and we will get the figure from Savaria if a facility needs it for a protocol.
Are there any rules about where I charge?
Yes, two from Handicare's own manual. The emergency stop must be released while the lift is charging, and the lift must not be charged in a wet room. Neither is optional.
Does it come with a battery?
No. The charger is quoted on its own. If you want a second battery pack so the lift never stands on charge, tell us which lift you have and we will quote the pack alongside it.
Will it charge a Beka or a Hoyer lift?
Nothing published says so, and this page does not claim it. Handicare lists this code against MiniLift, Eva, Carina350 and Vega only. Other manufacturers use their own chargers and their own battery chemistry. If you have a Beka Nora or a Carlo, call us on (905) 451-7743 and we will quote the right part for that lift.
How do I know when it is charging?
Handicare's Eva manual describes the charging indicators on the lift: when the charger is connected the control box lamp shows a yellow light, and on the wall-mounted charger an LED on the front lights up when a battery pack is in place. Green indicates power is present.
Can I leave it plugged in?
Handicare recommends charging daily for maximum battery life, and warns that a lift stored for a long period should have the emergency stop pressed in. Batteries left flat lose capacity, so daily charging is the manufacturer's own advice rather than a habit to avoid.
Where do used batteries go?
Handicare's instruction is that used batteries are to be left at the nearest recycling station, and that they can also be returned to Handicare or a Handicare dealer for recycling. We will take them off you on a service visit.
