Description
The Span America Encore Bed USB Charging Port MC9, Field Installed (manufacturer code Q6763) is the Savaria Patient Care route to adding USB charging to a Span Encore MC9 bed that is already in a room. Savaria lists a USB charging kit among the Encore's customisations in its own brochure and on the SPAN Encore product page, and gives the option a separate order code for each bed platform and each install mode. Westin Healthcare specifies, supplies, fits and services Span beds in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area.
This is the field code, the retrofit. It goes on a bed that already exists, so it does not have to be decided when the bed is bought. If the bed has not been built yet, put the factory version on the bed order instead: Q6768, which Span builds in before the bed ships.
Check this first: two Encore builds already have it
This is the money-saving check on this product, and it comes from Savaria's own 2026 descriptions.
- MC9RWB-C is the Encore with GlideAlign retractability, pre-installed ReadyWide expanders to 39 and 42 inches, boxed delivery, and a factory installed USB charger.
- MC9RWZB-C is the same bed with battery backup added, and it also carries the factory installed USB charger.
If you are specifying either of those builds, the USB charging is in the bed and you do not add a USB code on top. If you are ordering a plain MC9RW, or you already have an Encore in a room without USB charging, this is the code. Tell us which build you are quoting and we will make sure the charging appears exactly once on the order.
Which code is yours
Read this before you order, because Savaria supplies a different USB code for each bed platform and for each install mode, and the codes are not interchangeable. This page is Q6763.
| Bed platform | Field install | Factory install |
|---|---|---|
| Span Encore, MC9 series | Q6763, this page | Q6768 |
| Span Advantage ReadyWide, MC7 Standard builds on TiMOTION controls | Q6762 | Q6767 |
| Span Advantage, QD1000 series | Q6761 | Q6766 |
The bed and control box labels identify the platform. If you cannot find them, call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number from the bed label and we will identify it before anything is ordered.
One gap worth naming rather than guessing at. Savaria prints no USB code at all against the Advantage ReadyWide Plus MC7WP, which runs LINAK controls rather than TiMOTION, in its 2026 range. The Plus takes LINAK parts elsewhere in the range, such as its own battery backup and its own under-bed lighting. If the bed you are specifying is a ReadyWide Plus, call us before adding a USB line and we will confirm the current option with Savaria first rather than substituting the Standard code.
The bed this page belongs to is the Span Encore package, which sits alongside the Span Weigh Scale bed, the Span Advantage Q-Series and the Span Rexx.
What it does, and why it matters on a low bed
It puts a powered USB socket on the bed, so a phone, a tablet or a hearing aid case charges from the bed's own supply rather than from a power bar on the floor. On this bed in particular that is worth more than convenience. The Encore travels from 7-7/8 inches to 31 inches, its deck retracts 12 inches, and it moves through Trendelenburg, reverse Trendelenburg and comfort chair positions on the way. Every charger cord trailing under that frame is something to snag, pinch or trip over, and Span's own manual warns against rolling the bed over cables and against routing cords near moving parts. A socket that travels with the bed removes the cord run entirely.
The bed's electrical picture
These are published Encore MC9R figures from Span's owner manual. They describe the bed, not the port, and they are here because they are what a facilities manager or an electrician will ask for when anything electrical is added to a bed.

| Warranty | 1 year, Span bed accessories |
Savaria does not publish how many ports the kit provides, whether they are USB-A or USB-C, what each one delivers, or where on the bed it mounts, for any of the six USB codes. Those are all fair questions and we will put them to Savaria in writing before you order rather than answer them here from guesswork.
One thing worth keeping in mind on every Span accessory. Span states in the Encore owner manual that the safe working load includes the weight of accessories, options and bedding, not just the person in the bed. The Encore MC9 is rated at 600 lb (272 kg) safe working load with a maximum patient weight of 450 lb (204 kg). Every option you add uses part of that allowance, so it is worth totalling the build rather than adding parts one at a time.
Ordering and fitting in Brampton and the GTA
This is a part for a bed that is already in service, so the useful question is who puts it on. Westin Healthcare's own technicians fit Span bed parts in homes and in facilities across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, and we have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather talk it through in person. Orders travel by standard parcel or freight depending on the equipment, and White Glove Delivery is available for eligible products in Toronto and the GTA. The delivery method, any exclusions, and any charge are set out on the shipping policy and confirmed on your order before you commit. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the contact page with the model and serial number from the bed label and we will confirm the part before anything ships.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on a Span bed or one of its accessories needs work, you call the shop that supplied it. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department and our own technicians come to the home or the workplace across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Span manufacturer warranty
Span Medical Products Canada warrants all beds and bed accessories sold by Span to be free from defects in workmanship and materials under normal and proper use and service from the date of initial delivery. Bed accessories carry one year and parts subject to wear carry one year, which is the row this part sits in. Electrical components, meaning the control box and all actuators, carry five years. The frame carries fifteen years and all welds on steel structural components carry fifteen years. Labour for service is not part of the manufacturer warranty, and the warranty does not apply where a product has been abused, misused, improperly maintained, exposed to excessive loads, or altered without Span's approval. Span also states plainly that using replacement parts or accessories from other manufacturers will invalidate the warranty and could damage the bed, so a generic substitute is a false economy on a Span bed. We handle the claim with you.

Frequently asked questions
What is the manufacturer code?
Q6763. Savaria lists it in its 2026 range as the Encore USB port for the MC9 platform, field install. The SPAN Encore brochure and product page separately list a USB charging kit among the bed's customisations.
Does my Encore already have USB charging?
It depends on the build. Savaria describes the MC9RWB-C and the MC9RWZB-C as having a factory installed USB charger. A plain MC9RW does not, and this code is how you add it. Send us the model and serial number and we will confirm from the build.
Should I order the field code or the factory code?
Field, this code, if the Encore is already in a room. Factory, Q6768, if the bed has not been built yet. Savaria offers the option both ways on every platform, so the only question is whether the bed exists.
How many ports is it, and are they USB-A or USB-C?
Savaria does not publish either, for any of the six USB codes in its range, so we do not quote them. If the connector type matters to you, tell us before you order and we will ask Savaria in writing.
Will it work during a power outage?
We do not know, and we are not going to guess. Savaria publishes nothing about whether the port is powered when the bed is running on its backup battery. If your bed has the backup battery fitted and that answer matters, ask us and we will get it confirmed before you order.
Can it go on an Advantage ReadyWide MC7?
Not this code. The ReadyWide MC7 Standard builds on TiMOTION controls take Q6762 in the field or Q6767 at the factory. The Advantage QD1000 takes Q6761 and Q6766. Order against the bed.
What about a ReadyWide Plus?
Savaria prints no USB code against the ReadyWide Plus MC7WP, which runs LINAK controls, anywhere in its 2026 range. We will not substitute the Standard TiMOTION code for it. Call us and we will confirm the current option with Savaria first.
Does anything change electrically on the bed?
The bed itself is rated at 120 V, 60 Hz, single phase with a maximum input current of 3.5 A, and Span requires the wall receptacle to be marked Hospital Grade or Hospital Only. Adding a port does not change that requirement. If your facility runs an electrical review on bed modifications, tell us and we will get the port's own rating from Savaria for the file.
What is the warranty?
One year. Span bed accessories carry one year in the manufacturer's warranty table, and so do cables. The five year electrical row covers the control box and the actuators, not accessory kits. Labour for service is not part of the manufacturer warranty.
