Description
The Span America Floor Placement Arm (manufacturer code Q6740) is a Savaria Patient Care bed accessory. Savaria prints it as "Floor placement arm" in the SPAN ReadyWide brochure, in the SPAN Weigh Scale brochure, in the Span long term care beds catalogue, and in the Product Codes table on the SPAN ReadyWide page, and the Savaria 2026 pricelist lists it for the MC7 and MC9 platforms. Westin Healthcare specifies, supplies and services Span beds in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area.
Check this before you order. Savaria's next item code, Q6741, is described as a "retractable power cord cable reel and placement arm". A placement arm is part of that kit. If Q6741 is on your order, you already have an arm and you do not add Q6740 as well. Q6740 is the arm on its own, for a bed that does not need the reel.
Which beds this fits
Savaria lists this code in two different places, and the two do not say quite the same thing. Here is the honest version.
- Printed by Span in the brochures: the Advantage ReadyWide MC7 series (MC7W, MC7WM, MC7WL, MC7WML and the ReadyWide Plus MC7WPML) and the Weigh Scale MC7WS series. Q6740 sits in the item code table of both.
- Listed by Savaria in the 2026 pricelist: MC7 and MC9. That takes it to the Encore MC9 platform as well.
- Not printed in any Encore document we read: the SPAN Encore brochure, the Encore product codes table and the Encore structural highlights catalogue page all leave Q6740 out. That is not the same as saying it will not fit, but it does mean the Encore fitment rests on the pricelist alone.
- Not this part: the Advantage QD1000 Q-Series runs a separate accessory family and Q6740 is not in it, and neither is the Span Rexx.
- Worth knowing: Savaria does write "all bed models" when it means it. In the same 2026 range it describes the Q6729 foot end equipment bar and the universal trapeze bar that way. Against this code it names platforms instead, so treat the restriction as deliberate.
So: if the bed is an Advantage ReadyWide MC7 or a Weigh Scale MC7WS, this is a straightforward order. If the bed is an Encore MC9, call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number from the bed label and we will confirm the fitment with Savaria before anything ships. That one call is quicker than a return.
The beds this belongs to are the ReadyWide MC7 range, the Span Weigh Scale bed built on the same MC7 platform, and the Span Encore package. They sit alongside the Span Advantage Q-Series and the Span Rexx, neither of which takes this code.
Span floor placement arm specifications
Span publishes the code and the description. It does not publish a dimension, a material, a weight or a load rating for this part, and we will not put a number on a page that the manufacturer has not printed. What follows is what Savaria does state.
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Manufacturer code | Q6740 |
| Manufacturer description | Floor placement arm |
| Brand | Span-America, a division of Savaria Corporation, sold under Savaria Patient Care |
| Bed platforms in Span brochures | Advantage ReadyWide MC7 series; Weigh Scale MC7WS series |
| Bed platforms in the Savaria 2026 pricelist | MC7 and MC9 |
| Related code | Q6741, retractable power cord cable reel and placement arm |
| Install qualifier | None published. Savaria lists one code, not a field and factory pair |
| Warranty | 1 year, Span bed accessories |
One thing worth keeping in mind on every Span accessory. Span states in both owner manuals that the safe working load includes the weight of accessories, options and bedding, not just the person in the bed. The Encore MC9 is rated at 600 lb (272 kg) safe working load with a maximum patient weight of 450 lb (204 kg). The Advantage ReadyWide MC7 Standard is rated at 500 lb (227 kg) safe working load with a maximum patient weight of 350 lb (159 kg), and the ReadyWide Plus is rated at 650 lb (295 kg). Every option you bolt on uses part of that allowance, so it is worth totalling the build rather than adding parts one at a time.
Ordering this correctly
Three questions get this right the first time, and they take a minute on the phone.
- Which bed? Model and serial number from the bed label. MC7 and MC7WS are documented. MC9 rests on the pricelist and we confirm it before ordering.
- Reel or no reel? If the bed needs cord management as well, Q6741 is the code, and it includes an arm. Ordering both codes buys two arms.
- What else is on the build? Accessories come out of the bed's safe working load, so it is worth totalling the whole build rather than adding parts one at a time.

Orders travel by standard parcel or freight depending on the equipment, and White Glove Delivery is available for eligible products in Toronto and the GTA. The delivery method, any exclusions, and any charge are set out on the shipping policy and confirmed on your order before you commit. Span manufacturer warranty
Span Medical Products Canada warrants all beds and bed accessories sold by Span to be free from defects in workmanship and materials under normal and proper use and service from the date of initial delivery. Bed accessories carry one year and parts subject to wear carry one year, which is the row this part sits in. Electrical components, meaning the control box and all actuators, carry five years. The frame carries fifteen years and all welds on steel structural components carry fifteen years. Labour for service is not part of the manufacturer warranty, and the warranty does not apply where a product has been abused, misused, improperly maintained, exposed to excessive loads, or altered without Span's approval. Span also states plainly that using replacement parts or accessories from other manufacturers will invalidate the warranty and could damage the bed, so a generic substitute is a false economy on a Span bed. We handle the claim with you.

Frequently asked questions
What is the manufacturer code?
Q6740. Savaria prints it as "Floor placement arm" in the SPAN ReadyWide brochure, the SPAN Weigh Scale brochure, the Span long term care beds catalogue and the ReadyWide product codes table.
Do I need this if I am ordering Q6741?
No. Savaria describes Q6741 as a retractable power cord cable reel and placement arm, so the arm is in that kit. Order one or the other, not both.
Will it fit my Encore MC9?
The Savaria 2026 pricelist lists this code for MC7 and MC9, but no Encore brochure or product codes table prints it. We confirm Encore fitment with Savaria before ordering rather than assuming it. Call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number.
Is this the same part as the QD1000 Advantage version?
No. The Advantage QD1000 brochure runs its own accessory codes and Q6740 is not one of them. Span builds several bed families and the accessory codes are not interchangeable between them.
What are the dimensions?
Savaria does not publish them for this code, so we do not quote them. If a dimension matters to your installation, tell us before you order and we will ask Savaria in writing.
Is it fitted at the factory or on site?
Savaria publishes one code with no install qualifier, unlike the extender kits and battery backups, which come as a field and factory pair. Our technicians fit Span bed parts across Brampton and the GTA, and we will confirm the route with Savaria when we quote.
What is the warranty?
One year. Span bed accessories and parts subject to wear both carry one year in the manufacturer's warranty table. Labour for service is not part of the manufacturer warranty.
