Description
The Beka Nora Alu Sit-to-Stand Lift, Loop Connection is Beka Hospitec's aluminum NORA Alu standing and raising aid, listed for Canada by Savaria Patient Care. It is rated at 200 kg (440 lb) and is built for the person who can still stand for a short time with support and needs a safe way to get to the toilet, the shower or a chair. Westin Healthcare delivers it and sets it up across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
This is the loop-connection NORA Alu. A stock NORA carries clip pins on the carry bar. This code is the loop build, so loop-terminated stand-up slings go straight on. Clip slings do not fit a loop pin and loop slings do not fit a clip holder, so the connection has to be settled before the sling is ordered. Beka builds NORA in more than one connection and more than one model, and each build is its own product here, so the code you buy is the code that ships. The clip-connection NORA Alu is on our Beka Nora Sit to Stand Lift page, and the newer Beka Nora Pro is the current-generation standing aid.
Who this lift is for
A standing aid is not a smaller floor lift. It is for the person who still has some standing ability and some trunk control, and who benefits from using it. Beka designed NORA for residents who can stand for a short time with support, and points out that the targeted raising motion lets the person put their full vertical load through their legs slowly, which supports circulation and the musculoskeletal system. Somebody who cannot take load through their legs at all needs a full-body floor lift instead.
- Transfers to and from the toilet, a commode, a chair or a wheelchair
- Showering and washing the seat area, which Beka names as a NORA use
- Remobilization and standing practice as part of a care plan
- Small rooms and ensuites, where Beka positions NORA as space efficient
- Shorter residents up to 1.60 m (5 ft 2 in), who can use the second sling attachment point
- People inside 200 kg (440 lb), limited by the lowest rating among the lift and the sling
How it works
The person sits on the edge of the bed or the chair. The sling goes around the back and under the arms, the knees rest against the padded knee pads, and the caregiver raises the lift from the cable hand control. The lifting arm draws the person up and forward into a supported standing position rather than pulling them straight up, and the seat area stays clear, which is what makes toileting and washing possible without a second transfer.
The carrier frame spreads electrically from the same hand control, so the caregiver can open the legs around a toilet, a chair or a piece of furniture and close them again to get through a doorway, without letting go of the pendant. The hand control has a symbol for every function and shows the battery charge status. Four double castors carry the lift and two of them lock, and Beka fits an emergency lowering function across the lifting range.
Two things on this lift exist for shorter residents. The carry bar has a second, lower set of sling attachment points, which Beka added because a resident up to about 1.60 m (5 ft 2 in) can otherwise be pulled into a painful position with pressure in the back and the armpits. The knee pads are height adjustable and are fitted with safety belts, and they are shaped to keep pressure off the kneecap during the stand-up motion. Beka sells an extra-soft double knee pad (921070408) if the standard pad is not comfortable enough.
The electrics are splash and water resistant, which is what lets NORA go into a bathroom. The battery is a removable 24 V pack, and the battery and charger are backwards compatible across the Beka mobile lift range, so a facility running CARLO and NORA together can share spares.

The rest of the NORA range
NORA is sold in more than one connection and more than one generation. Each one is its own product here:
- 921074008: NORA Alu, loop connection. This listing.
- The clip-connection NORA Alu, which is the same lift with clip pins on the carry bar.
- The NORA Pro, Beka's current-generation standing aid, sold in clip-connection and loop-connection builds.
If you are not sure which connection your slings use, look at the ends of the sling straps: a loop sling finishes in a fabric loop, a clip sling finishes in a moulded plastic clip. Bring us a photo and we will confirm it. All of our standing aids sit on the sit-to-stand lifts hub.
Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts or other lifting devices. Funding routes that can help when the eligibility criteria fit: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship funding programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this lift across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the hand control before we leave.
You are welcome to visit our Brampton showroom, or Mobility Specialties, our partner store in Etobicoke, if you would rather see a lift first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our patient lift rental service; purchased lifts are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
Floor patient lifts are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the lift is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Can I rent a patient lift before I buy?
Yes. If you only need a lift for a recovery, or you want to live with a floor lift before you buy, rent first. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub and the patient lift rentals page. Westin rents electric floor lifts across Brampton and the GTA.
Rental packages include an electric floor lift and a sling. For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice.
If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.
Which slings this lift fits
This is the loop-connection NORA. Loop-terminated stand-up slings go on the carry-bar pins. A stock NORA Alu ships with clip pins instead, and a clip sling will not seat on a loop pin. Settle the connection before the sling is ordered, because the two are not interchangeable on the same bar.
Our Beka Sit to Stand Sling is Beka's own NORA raising sling in nylon with an anti-slip back and a padded chest strap, and it is listed in both clip and loop articles. Ask for the loop article for this lift. Beka's size guide for the NORA raising sling runs S 40-60 kg, M 55-85 kg, L 75-125 kg and XL 120-160 kg, and the correct size matters more on a standing aid than on a hammock sling because the sling has to hold the trunk while the person takes load through their legs.
Beka's manual asks the caregiver to check before every lift that the sling attachment points at the lift match the sling, that the sling and its fittings are undamaged, and that the sling is correctly seated and under tension before the person is raised. The use of slings that are not compatible can cause accidents. A full-body hammock sling is not a stand-up sling and does not belong on this lift; that work goes on a CARLO floor lift instead. Browse the range on sit-to-stand slings, and ask our staff to confirm the size and the connection type before you order.
Related lifts from Westin
If the person cannot take load through their legs, a standing aid is the wrong tool and a full-body floor lift is the right one. Beka's own is the Carlo Alu Classic 185, and the Carlo Alu Comfort EP 230 is the bariatric one with powered positioning. The Handicare Eva600EE and the Handicare Carina 350 are the other floor lifts we stock.
Among standing aids, the Handicare MiniLift is the compact alternative in the Handicare range. If a ceiling track suits the room better than anything on wheels, look at the Handicare C450, the Handicare C625 and the Savaria M-Series. Everything sits on the patient lifts hub.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the lift needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not an overseas parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Beka warranty and inspection
Beka Hospitec's operating manual states that the manufacturer is responsible for the safety and reliability of the lift only when regular functional tests and checks are carried out, that the lift must be run with original accessories, and that warranty rights on a modification and on the device functions related to it expire if extensions or fittings are carried out by anyone other than Beka Hospitec or a company Beka has authorized. Beka does not print a year count in that manual, so ask us for the current terms that ship with your serial number and we will handle a claim with you.
Beka prescribes an annual safety check and maintenance by the manufacturer or by specialists the manufacturer has authorized, recorded in your inventory register, with the due date on the inspection sticker on the back of the lift. Beka also asks for a daily clean and disinfect, a weekly visual check of all components and the power cable, and a function test. We can quote the annual inspection with the lift.
Frequently asked questions
Which NORA is this exactly?
It is manufacturer code 921074008, the NORA Alu standing and raising aid in the loop-connection build. Beka rates the NORA Alu at 200 kg (440 lb).
What is the difference between loop connection and clip connection?
It is the fitting on the carry bar and the matching termination on the sling. A loop sling finishes in a fabric loop that goes over a loop pin. A clip sling finishes in a moulded clip that seats in a clip holder. They do not swap. This code is the loop build, so order loop stand-up slings for it.
Does ADP cover a patient lift in Ontario?
No. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program does not cover patient lifts or other lifting devices. Other routes can help when the criteria fit, and our staff will point you at the right one. Call (905) 451-7743 before you buy.
Who should not use a standing aid?
Somebody who cannot take any load through their legs, or who has no trunk control, should be transferred on a full-body floor lift instead. Beka designed NORA for residents who can still stand for a short time with support. Have a clinician assess the person before the first transfer.
Does it work for a short resident?
Yes, and Beka built it for that. There is a second sling attachment point on the carry bar for residents up to 1.60 m (5 ft 2 in), which keeps the sling from pressing into the back and the armpits, and the knee pads are individually height adjustable.
Can it be used for toileting and showering?
Yes. Beka names toileting and washing the seat area as NORA uses, and the electrical components are splash and water resistant. The seat area stays clear when the person is raised.
How far does it lift?
Beka publishes a lifting range of 898 to 1726 mm (35.0 to 68.0 in), with an overall height of 1168 to 1781 mm (46.0 to 70.1 in).
Will it fit in a small bathroom?
Beka positions NORA as ideal for small rooms. It is 1027 mm (40.4 in) long, 700 mm (27.6 in) across the closed frame and 730 mm (28.7 in) at the handles, and the frame spreads electrically to 897 mm (35.3 in) inside. Measure your doorway and the clear floor beside the toilet and we will check it with you.
Does a sling come with the lift?
No. The lift is supplied with the hand control and the removable 24 V battery. The stand-up sling is quoted separately so it can be sized to the person and matched to the loop connection.
How long does the battery last?
Beka fits a removable 24 V, 2.9 Ah pack. Beka asks that the battery is recharged as soon as it is discharged, and that a battery in storage is recharged every six months, because a deep discharge can destroy it. The battery and the charger are backwards compatible across Beka's mobile lifts.
Can I rent a lift first?
Yes. Westin rents electric floor lifts across Brampton and the GTA, with a sling in the package. If you buy afterwards, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program.
How is this different from the NORA Pro?
NORA Pro is Beka's current-generation standing aid and is sold in its own clip and loop builds. NORA Alu is the aluminum model on this page. Compare them on the two product pages, or call us and we will talk through which one suits the person.
