Description
The Handicare C-800 is the 800 lb (363 kg) bariatric motor in the Handicare C-Series. Westin Healthcare quotes it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes and care rooms in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The motor stays on a ceiling track. A strap lowers a carry bar so a person can be transferred in a sling without a floor lift in the room.
This is the higher-capacity C-Series sibling of the Handicare C450 (450 lb) and the Handicare C625 (625 lb). Same pneumatic hand control and C-Series case family, with a larger 24.5 lb cabin and an 800 lb safe working load. If you want a lithium-ion motor at 600 lb or less, see the Savaria M-Series.
Who it is for
This motor is for a person whose own weight, plus the sling and any accessories, needs more than the C625's 625 lb rating and can use an 800 lb overhead lift. The C-800 stays in the track, so the floor stays clear for a wheelchair, commode, or caregiver. Families and care teams usually call when a therapist has asked for a bariatric working load, or when the person is near the limit of a 625 lb motor.
- Home bedrooms and bathrooms that can take an 800 lb-rated ceiling track
- Long-term care and clinic rooms that already use Handicare or Prism C-Series track
- Sites that want the C-Series pneumatic hand control at 800 lb, not a lithium-ion cabin
How it lifts
The C-800 is a fixed motor. It stays in the track. The strap lowers a carry bar, loop slings hook onto that bar, and the motor raises the person. Manual Traverse means you walk the bar along the rail. Power Traverse and Power X/Y add travel motors. Docking Station charges at an end-stop charger. OMNI Charging uses constant-charge strips in the track. Return to Charge, when the motor is equipped for it, sends the cabin back to the charger end stop.
Handicare's C-800 / C-1000 owner's manual states that the installed safe working load is the lowest rating among the motor, track, accessories, and sling. Do not exceed that number. The charger sits outside the patient vicinity. Do not expose the lift to water. Westin's own team handles delivery and setup through the delivery section below.
Handicare C-800 specifications
These figures are for the Handicare C-800 motor, SKU 329180 and its C-800 Style codes. They are not the C450, C625, or C-1000 numbers.
The C-800 / C-1000 owner's manual lists an 800 lb safe working load, a lifting range up to 96 inches (2438 mm), a unit weight of 24.5 lb (11.1 kg), a 1 minute on / 9 minutes off duty cycle, and a service life of 22,500 cycles or 10 years, whichever comes first. Rated performance after break-in is 17 to 20 lifts of 24 inches at 800 lb on a full charge. Batteries are 24 VDC (two 12 V sealed lead-acid cells, 5.0 Ah). The supplied Soneil charger accepts 100-240 VAC and outputs 24 VDC at 1.5 A. Charge the motor for 4 hours before first use. The case is flame retardant ABS. The hand control is pneumatic. Replace the lifting strap every 5,000 cycles or 3 years, whichever comes first.
Use Style to pick how the motor travels and charges:
- 329180: Manual Traverse (Docking Station)
- 329181: Manual Traverse (OMNI Charging)
- 329190: Power Traverse (Docking Station)
- 329191: Power Traverse (OMNI Charging)
- 329184: Manual Traverse Quick Curve
- 329187: Power X/Y
This listing is quote-only. The motor, pneumatic hand control, and charger come with the Style you pick. Ceiling track, carry bar, and slings are planned with the room and must be rated for 800 lb. Ask us for a layout before we book the install date.
Slings and spreader bar
The C-800 uses a carry bar with hooks. Handicare's owner's manual shows loop sling straps seated on those hooks, one side of the sling to the matching side of the bar. The lifting strap uses a Quick Release carabiner; the bar's dowel pin seats in that hook. This is a loop attachment, not a clip sit-to-stand bar. Use slings Handicare authorizes for this bar, and never exceed the lowest SWL of the motor, track, bar, or sling.
Shop Westin's matching sling styles: universal slings, full-body slings, toileting slings, and divided-leg slings. Confirm the sling's own safe working load before you pair it with an 800 lb motor. Sit-to-stand slings belong on sit-to-stand floor lifts, not on this overhead bar.
Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts or other lifting devices. Funding routes that can help when the eligibility criteria fit: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship funding programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this ceiling lift across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the hand control before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a ceiling lift first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased lifts are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
Ceiling lifts are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the lift is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Can I rent a patient lift before I buy?
Yes. If you only need a lift for a recovery, or you want to live with a ceiling-lift setup before you buy, rent first. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub and the patient lift rentals page. Westin rents electric floor lifts and ceiling lift setups across Brampton and the GTA.
For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice.
If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.
Which C-Series motor this is
Start with the Handicare C450 when 450 lb is enough. Use the Handicare C625 when you need 625 lb in the same pneumatic C-Series family. Use this C-800 when the person needs 800 lb. The C-1000 is the 1000 lb C-Series motor; ask us if that load is the real need. The Savaria M-Series is a different lithium-ion cabin at 286, 440, or 600 lb, not this lead-acid bariatric motor.
A C-800 / C-1000 tandem install uses two motors on two parallel tracks. That is a different layout from the single cabin on this page. Ask us before anyone plans a dual-track room.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the lift needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Handicare C-800 warranty
The Handicare C-800 / C-1000 owner's manual states that new equipment is guaranteed against failure for 1 year from the date of installation or 18 months from the date of manufacture, whichever is shorter. Batteries are not covered after 90 days. Unauthorized service voids that warranty. Water on the motor is not covered. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
Does funding cover a ceiling lift in Ontario?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts. Other routes can help when the person and the assessment fit, including ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship programs. Westin Healthcare works with those programs every week. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before anyone starts paperwork.
What is the safe working load of the Handicare C-800?
Handicare lists 800 lb (363 kg) for the C-800 motor. The installed system is limited by the lowest rating among the motor, track, carry bar, and sling. The C625 is the 625 lb sibling if you do not need this rating.
How is the C-800 different from the C450 and the C625?
All three are Handicare C-Series fixed motors with a pneumatic hand control. The C450 is 450 lb. The C625 is 625 lb. The C-800 is 800 lb in a slightly larger 24.5 lb cabin, with about 17 to 20 lifts of 24 inches at that load. C450 and C625 use 323xxx Style codes. The C-800 uses 3291xx codes.
Can one caregiver operate the C-800?
Savaria Patient Care's C-800 page states that the C-800 can be operated by a single caregiver. Handicare's owner's manual still requires the sling, track, hooks, and carabiner to be checked before every lift. A tandem two-motor install is a different setup and often needs two trained staff. Training with the install is part of a safe first use.
What slings fit the C-800?
Loop slings that match the carry-bar hooks, rated for this bar and for the person's weight. Use universal, full-body, toileting, or divided-leg slings Handicare authorizes. Do not put a sit-to-stand sling on this overhead motor, and do not use a 600 lb sling on an 800 lb lift.
Does the quote include the ceiling track?
No. This listing is quote-only for the motor in the Style you pick. Track, carry bar, and slings are planned with the room and must be rated for 800 lb. Ask us for a layout before we book the install date.
What happens if the power goes out?
Handicare lists emergency lowering on a red cord, plus emergency manual raising or lowering with the supplied Allen key. There is also an emergency stop. Those features are for getting a person down safely, not for everyday use without a charged battery. After an emergency lowering, a technician must reset the lift before it is used again.
Can I rent a lift before I buy this motor?
Yes. Westin rents electric floor lifts and ceiling lift setups. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub. If you later buy, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program.
How fast can a purchased C-800 be set up in the GTA?
Westin's team delivers and sets up purchased lifts across Brampton and the GTA on a scheduled date. Call (905) 451-7743 for the next opening. Same-day delivery belongs to the rental service, not automatically to a purchased install.
What is the warranty on the C-800?
The Handicare C-800 / C-1000 owner's manual prints 1 year from installation or 18 months from manufacture, whichever is shorter, for new equipment. Batteries are covered for 90 days. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work. Details are on our service and repairs page.
