Description
The Sunrise Medical Quickie QRi is a rigid lightweight wheelchair with an open aluminum frame. Westin Healthcare configures it to an occupational therapist or physiotherapist prescription and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program lists it under device code WM0000991. It is not an off-the-shelf chair that ships the same day you click buy.
Sunrise builds the QRi as a low-maintenance rigid with a 0 or 1 inch frame inset and an adjustable axle plate. The current Canada specification table lists a 22 lb chair, a 265 lb rating, and seat sizes from 12 to 20 inches wide and 12 to 20 inches deep. An ADP-registered therapist assessment comes first.
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who needs a long-term rigid wheelchair, who fits Sunrise's 265 lb rating and the 12 to 20 inch seat range, and who will use the chair for six months or longer. Therapists often pick the QRi when they want a current Quickie rigid at the simpler end of the lineup, with transit available on the Canada form.
If the prescription needs more axle-plate range or an XTR path, look at the Quickie 5R. If the therapist wants Sunrise's current flagship rigid, see the Quickie Nitrum. The Quickie GP is the classic series with a Built-4-Me path to 350 lb. This chair is the QRi.
- A rigid chair built to prescription
- Sunrise's 22 lb frame and 265 lb rating
- Someone who self-propels and wants a simple open frame
Design and build
The QRi uses an open aluminum frame, a stable wheelbase, and a fluid caster housing. The axle plate sets centre of gravity from 0.5 to 3 inches. Frame angles are 75, 80, or 85 degrees. Camber is 0 or 3 degrees. A folding lock-down angle-adjustable back is on the Canada feature list.
Transit hardware that Sunrise lists as WC-19 approved to 265 lbs is on the Canada form. Rear wheels come off for a car lift. The frame does not fold like a box-frame chair.
- Rigid aluminum, model EIR5
- Classic open frame, 0 or 1 inch inset
- Centre of gravity 0.5 to 3 inches
- Camber 0 or 3 degrees
- Transit option on the Canada order form
Quickie QRi specifications
These figures are for the Quickie QRi on Sunrise Medical Canada's current specification table, the July 2025 Canada order form, and the linked brochure. The specification tab holds the stored values. Do not mix them with the 5R or the Nitrum.
Seat width 12 to 20 inches. Seat depth 12 to 20 inches. Front seat-to-floor 15 to 20 inches. Rear seat-to-floor 14 to 20 inches. Back height 10 to 20 inches. Back angle -8 to 17 degrees. Frame angles 75, 80, or 85 degrees. Camber 0 or 3 degrees. Centre of gravity 0.5 to 3 inches. Product weight 22 lbs. Weight capacity 265 lbs. Shipping carton 31 by 24 by 24 inches. Average ship 50 lbs.
Warranty for the original purchaser is Sunrise's Limited Lifetime term on the frame, and one year on Sunrise-made parts. Wear items such as tires, tubes, upholstery, pads, and grips sit outside that term. Sunrise notes that coverage can vary by province.
Size and configuration
The QRi is built to the assessment, not pulled off a shelf as a finished everyday cart item. Westin records seat width, seat depth, frame angle, inset, back, wheels, and colour from the therapist's measurements and the Sunrise order form. Those choices do not turn the chair into a next-day cart item.
This is a self-propel rigid wheelchair. It is not a folding box-frame chair and not a transport chair.
QRi or another Quickie rigid chair
The QRi is Sunrise's simpler current rigid. The Quickie 5R adds Classic, Performance, and XTR paths and a wider axle-plate range. The Quickie Nitrum is the flagship 7020-series rigid. The Quickie GP is the classic series.
If the therapist wants a current folding chair instead, start with the Quickie QS5 X, the Quickie 2, or the Quickie QXi.
Funding help for a wheelchair in Ontario
This chair is an ADP-eligible category device. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) pays 75% of the approved price for eligible clients, and clients receiving Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD support can be covered for the full cost. The route starts with an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, who confirms the need and the right category before anything is ordered: a chair bought before approval is not reimbursed. Westin Healthcare works with ADP authorizers and submissions every week, configures the chair to the prescription, and walks you through the paperwork. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to start the conversation.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this chair across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area after the prescription is built. We bring it in, fit the rear wheels, and show you the wheel locks and the back setup before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a rigid chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace. ADP does not pay for repairs.
Sunrise Medical manufacturer warranty
Sunrise prints a Limited Lifetime term on the QRi frame for the original purchaser, and one year on Sunrise-made parts. Tires, tubes, upholstery, pads, and grips are outside that term. Coverage can vary by province. We handle the claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
How much does the QRi weigh?
The Quickie QRi lists 22 lbs on Sunrise Medical Canada's specification table and the linked brochure. Average shipping weight is 50 lbs in a 31 by 24 by 24 inch carton.
QRi or 5R?
The Quickie QRi is the simpler 22 lb rigid with 0 or 3 degrees of camber and a 0.5 to 3 inch centre of gravity. The Quickie 5R is the more adjustable 21.5 lb rigid with Classic, Performance, and XTR paths. The therapist names the frame after the assessment.
QRi or GP?
The Quickie QRi is the current value rigid, 12 to 20 inches, 265 lb. The Quickie GP is the classic series with GP, GPV, and swing-away paths and a Built-4-Me path to 350 lb. They are different chairs.
What is the QRi weight capacity?
The Quickie QRi is rated at 265 lbs on Sunrise Medical Canada's specification table, the July 2025 Canada order form, and the brochure. Stay at or under that rating. Transit on the Canada page is listed to that same 265 lb figure.
Who qualifies for ADP on this chair?
You must be an Ontario resident with a valid Ontario health card and a disability that needs a mobility aid for six months or longer. An ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist has to assess you before anyone orders the chair. Income is not part of the test. The device code on this chair is WM0000991.
How does the 75 / 25 split work?
For eligible clients, ADP pays 75 percent of the approved price and the person pays 25 percent. People on Ontario Works, ODSP, or Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities can be covered at 100 percent of that approved price. Extra items that sit outside the ADP chart are billed separately.
What is the assessment process?
Book an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist. They confirm the need, trial equipment where they can, and complete the application with Westin as the ADP-registered vendor. We submit the form. Do not buy the chair first. A chair bought before approval is not reimbursed.
How long does ADP take?
The ministry says it aims to review a mobility application within eight weeks of receiving it. That is ADP's stated aim, not a Westin delivery date. After approval we order the Sunrise frame to the prescription and book a setup date.
Can I try a QRi before the order?
Westin keeps assessment and trial equipment for therapists to use. Call (905) 451-7743 or come into a Brampton or Toronto store and we will see what is on the floor. A trial chair may not be the same colour or size as the chair that is later built for you.
How should the seat width fit?
The therapist measures seated hip width and leaves a little room on each side. Sunrise lists 12 to 20 inches on the QRi form. Seat depth is 12 to 20 inches. Those numbers come from the assessment.
Does ADP cover a rigid wheelchair?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can fund a long-term manual wheelchair after an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist assessment. The QRi is listed as WM0000991. We cannot promise that a specific person will be approved. Use the funding page before any order is placed.
What happens if ADP declines the application?
ADP sends a letter with the reason and how to follow up, including an appeal. We will sit with you and the therapist on the next step. Other routes such as March of Dimes Canada or Veterans Affairs Canada may still help.
