Description
The Sunrise Medical Quickie Access is a tilt-in-space wheelchair that the person can still self-propel. Westin Healthcare configures it to an occupational therapist or physiotherapist prescription and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It is not an off-the-shelf chair that ships the same day you click buy.
Sunrise builds the Access on a rigid aluminum base with a solid seat pan and a knee-pivot tilt. The current Canada specification table lists a 300 lb rating, seat sizes from 14 to 22 inches, tilt from -5 to 20 degrees or 0 to 25 degrees, and a recline back to 50 degrees. An ADP-registered therapist assessment comes first.
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who needs long-term tilt and recline, who still propels with hands or feet, and who fits Sunrise's 300 lb rating and the 14 to 22 inch seat range. Therapists often pick the Access when they want a low seat for tables or foot propulsion, plus anterior tilt for standing transfers, without moving to a rotation-in-space base.
If the prescription needs Intelligent Rotation in Space instead, start with the Quickie IRIS or the simpler Quickie SR45. The Access is not those chairs. It is the self-propel knee-pivot tilt with recline.
- A tilt-in-space chair the person can still wheel
- Sunrise's 25 degree tilt path and 50 degree recline
- A low seat-to-floor for tables or foot propulsion
Design and build
The Access uses a rigid aerospace-grade aluminum base and a solid seat pan. The pivot sits forward at the knee, so the knees stay lower in tilt and the person can still reach a table or the floor. Sunrise offers -5 to 20 degrees or 0 to 25 degrees of tilt on the Canada form. The reclining back is 0 to 50 degrees.
Anterior tilt of 5 degrees is how Sunrise describes an easier stand and transfer. The back folds down and the rear wheels come off. Sunrise prints a 32 lb transport weight on a 16 by 16 inch setup with armrests, footrest, and rear wheels removed. Transit hardware is an order-form choice.
- Rigid aluminum tilt base, model EIR14
- Knee-pivot tilt, not IRIS rotation
- Tilt -5 to 20 degrees, or 0 to 25 degrees
- Recline 0 to 50 degrees
- 300 lb rating
Quickie Access specifications
These figures are for the Quickie Access on Sunrise Medical Canada's current specification table, the July 2025 Canada order form, and the current brochure. The specification tab holds the stored values. Do not mix them with the IRIS or the SR45. Use 50 degrees of recline, not an older 55 degree sentence if you still see one on a Sunrise paragraph.
Seat width 14 to 22 inches. Seat depth 14 to 22 inches. Front seat-to-floor 12 to 20 inches. Tilt -5 to 20 degrees, or 0 to 25 degrees. Back height 15 to 21 inches or 18 to 24 inches. Back angle -30 to 5 degrees. Recline 0 to 50 degrees. Weight capacity 300 lbs. Transport weight 32 lbs on a 16 by 16 inch setup with armrests, footrest, and rear wheels removed. Transit yes, as an order-form option.
Warranty for the original purchaser is Sunrise's Limited Lifetime term on the frame, and one year on Sunrise-made parts. Wear items such as tires, tubes, upholstery, pads, and grips sit outside that term. Sunrise notes that coverage can vary by province.
Size and configuration
The Access is built to the assessment, not pulled off a shelf as a finished everyday cart item. Westin records tilt range, recline, seat width, seat depth, back, wheels, and colour from the therapist's measurements and the Sunrise order form. Those choices do not turn the chair into a next-day cart item.
This is a self-propel tilt wheelchair with large rear wheels. It is not a companion-only tilt and not a transport chair.
Access or another Quickie tilt chair
The Access is Sunrise's self-propel knee-pivot tilt with recline and a low seat. The Quickie IRIS is the rotation-in-space chair with 40 or 55 degree ranges. The Quickie SR45 is the simpler 45 degree rotation-in-space sibling.
If the therapist wants a current rigid without tilt, start with the Quickie Nitrum, the Quickie 5R, or the Quickie QRi. For a folding ultralight, see the Quickie QS5 X or the Quickie 2.
Funding help for a wheelchair in Ontario
This chair is an ADP-eligible category device. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) pays 75% of the approved price for eligible clients, and clients receiving Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD support can be covered for the full cost. The route starts with an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, who confirms the need and the right category before anything is ordered: a chair bought before approval is not reimbursed. Westin Healthcare works with ADP authorizers and submissions every week, configures the chair to the prescription, and walks you through the paperwork. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to start the conversation.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this chair across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area after the prescription is built. We bring it in, fit the rear wheels, and show you the tilt release, the recline, and the wheel locks before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a tilt chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace. ADP does not pay for repairs.
Sunrise Medical manufacturer warranty
Sunrise prints a Limited Lifetime term on the Access frame for the original purchaser, and one year on Sunrise-made parts. Tires, tubes, upholstery, pads, and grips are outside that term. Coverage can vary by province. We handle the claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
Access or IRIS?
The Quickie Access is a knee-pivot tilt with recline and a low seat so the person can still self-propel. The Quickie IRIS is a rotation-in-space chair with 40 or 55 degree ranges. They are different bases. The therapist names the one that matches the assessment.
How much tilt does the Access have?
The Quickie Access lists two tilt ranges on the Canada specification table and the July 2025 form: -5 to 20 degrees, or 0 to 25 degrees. Recline is 0 to 50 degrees. Use those figures, not an older 55 degree recline sentence.
Can I self-propel a tilt wheelchair?
The Quickie Access is built so the person can still reach the wheels or the floor. Sunrise describes independent propelling with the benefits of tilt and recline. A companion can also push from the handles. Engage the wheel locks before sitting or standing.
Does ADP cover a tilt wheelchair?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can fund a long-term manual wheelchair after an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist assessment. We cannot promise that a specific person will be approved. Use the funding page before any order is placed.
Who qualifies for ADP on this chair?
You must be an Ontario resident with a valid Ontario health card and a disability that needs a mobility aid for six months or longer. An ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist has to assess you before anyone orders the chair. Income is not part of the test.
How does the 75 / 25 split work?
For eligible clients, ADP pays 75 percent of the approved price and the person pays 25 percent. People on Ontario Works, ODSP, or Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities can be covered at 100 percent of that approved price. Extra items that sit outside the ADP chart are billed separately.
What is the assessment process?
Book an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist. They confirm the need, trial equipment where they can, and complete the application with Westin as the ADP-registered vendor. We submit the form. Do not buy the chair first. A chair bought before approval is not reimbursed.
How long does ADP take?
The ministry says it aims to review a mobility application within eight weeks of receiving it. That is ADP's stated aim, not a Westin delivery date. After approval we order the Sunrise frame to the prescription and book a setup date.
Can I try an Access before the order?
Westin keeps assessment and trial equipment for therapists to use. Call (905) 451-7743 or come into a Brampton or Toronto store and we will see what is on the floor. A floor tilt chair may be an IRIS or SR45, not an Access in the exact size later built for you.
How should the seat width fit?
The therapist measures seated hip width and leaves a little room on each side. Sunrise lists 14 to 22 inches on the Access form. Seat depth is 14 to 22 inches. Those numbers come from the assessment.
Will the Access go in a car?
The Quickie Access back folds and the rear wheels come off. Sunrise prints a 32 lb transport weight on a 16 by 16 inch setup with armrests, footrest, and rear wheels removed. The chair is not a car seat unless the transit option is on the order and the vehicle is set up for it.
What happens if ADP declines the application?
ADP sends a letter with the reason and how to follow up, including an appeal. We will sit with you and the therapist on the next step. Other routes such as March of Dimes Canada or Veterans Affairs Canada may still help.
