Description
The Handicare C625 is the 625 lb (284 kg) motor in the Handicare C-Series. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes and care rooms in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It is the higher-capacity sibling of the Handicare C450: same quiet C-Series case, same pneumatic hand control, with a higher safe working load.
Savaria Patient Care still lists the C625 as a current C-Series motor. It includes a digital display, emergency stop, emergency power lowering, and emergency manual raising or lowering. If you want a newer digital A-Series motor instead, see the Handicare A450. For a lithium-ion fixed motor, see the Savaria M-Series.
Who it is for
This motor is for a person who needs an overhead lift and needs more than the C450's 450 lb rating. The C625 stays on a ceiling track, so the floor stays clear for a wheelchair, commode, or caregiver. Families usually call when a therapist has asked for a higher working load, or when the person is near the limit of a 450 lb motor.
- Home or facility rooms that can take a rated ceiling track
- Transfers where a 625 lb motor is the right match
- Sites that already use Handicare or Prism C-Series track
How it lifts
The C625 is a fixed motor. It stays in the track. The strap lowers a carry bar, loop slings hook onto that bar, and the motor raises the person. Manual Traverse means you walk the bar along the rail. Power Traverse and Power XY add travel motors. Return to Charge sends the motor back to the charger end stop.
The C-Series user manual states that the installed safe working load is the lowest rating among the motor, track, accessories, and sling. Do not exceed that number. The charger sits outside the patient vicinity. The lift and charger are not waterproof. Westin's own team handles delivery and setup through the delivery section below.
Handicare C625 specifications
These figures are for the Handicare C-625 motor. Westin's listing SKU is C625. The Style selector uses the official C-Series codes: 323100 Manual Traverse, 323150 Power Traverse, 323149 Power Traverse w/ RTC, and 323177 Power XY.
The C-Series user manual lists a 625 lb / 284 kg safe working load for the C-625, a lifting range up to 96 inches (2438 mm), a unit weight of 21 to 23.5 lb (9.5 to 10.65 kg), a 1 minute on / 9 minutes off duty cycle, and a service life of 22,500 cycles or 10 years, whichever comes first. Handicare also prints a 7.5 ft (2.2 m) strap travel. Rated performance after break-in is 30 to 40 lifts of 24 inches at 625 lb on a full charge. Batteries are 24 VDC (two 12 V sealed lead-acid cells, 5.0 Ah). The charger is 100-240 VAC, 1.5 A in and 24 VDC, 1.0 A out. The main unit is IP22. Replace the lifting strap every 5,000 cycles or 3 years, whichever comes first.
Use Style to pick how the motor travels:
- Manual Traverse
- Power Traverse
- Power Traverse w/ RTC
- Power XY
Slings and spreader bar
The C625 uses the same C-Series carry-bar hooks as the C450. Handicare's user manual shows loop sling straps seated on those hooks before you raise the bar. This is a loop attachment. Use slings the manufacturer approves for this bar, and never exceed the lowest SWL of the motor, track, bar, or sling.
Shop Westin's matching sling styles: universal slings, full-body slings, toileting slings, and divided-leg slings. Sit-to-stand slings belong on sit-to-stand floor lifts, not on this overhead bar.
Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts or other lifting devices. Funding routes that can help when the eligibility criteria fit: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship funding programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this ceiling lift across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the hand control before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a ceiling lift first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased lifts are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
Ceiling lifts are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the lift is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Can I rent a patient lift before I buy?
Yes. If you only need a lift for a recovery, or you want to live with a ceiling-lift setup before you buy, rent first. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub and the patient lift rentals page. Westin rents electric floor lifts and ceiling lift setups across Brampton and the GTA.
For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice.
If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the lift needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Handicare C-Series warranty
The Handicare C-450 / C-625 user manual states that new equipment is guaranteed against failure for 1 year from the date of installation or 18 months from the date of manufacture. Unauthorized service voids that warranty. Water on the motor or charger is not covered. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
Does funding cover a ceiling lift in Ontario?
Funding routes exist for patient lifts in Ontario, and eligibility depends on the person and the assessment. Westin Healthcare works with those programs every week. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before anyone starts paperwork.
What is the safe working load of the Handicare C625?
Handicare lists 625 lb (284 kg) for the C-625 motor. The installed system is limited by the lowest rating among the motor, track, carry bar, and sling. The C450 is the 450 lb sibling if you do not need this rating.
Is the C625 a 450 lb lift?
No. The C625 is the 625 lb C-Series motor. The 450 lb motor is the C450. If you saw 450 lb next to this model, that was a listing mix-up, not the manufacturer rating.
How is the C625 different from the C450?
Same C-Series case, same pneumatic hand control, same 96 inch lifting range. The C625 is rated 625 lb and about 30 to 40 lifts of 24 inches at that load. The C450 is rated 450 lb and about 50 to 60 lifts at its load.
What slings fit the C625?
Loop slings that match the C-Series carry-bar hooks. Use universal, full-body, toileting, or divided-leg slings rated for this bar. Do not put a sit-to-stand sling on this overhead motor.
Does the C625 include the ceiling track?
The page price is for the motor in the traverse style you pick. Track, carry bar, and slings are planned with the room. Ask us for a layout before we book the install date.
What happens if the power goes out?
Handicare lists emergency power lowering on the lift and emergency manual raising or lowering. There is also an emergency stop. Those features are for getting a person down safely, not for everyday use without a charged battery.
Can I rent a lift before I buy this motor?
Yes. Westin rents electric floor lifts and ceiling lift setups. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub. If you later buy, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program.
How fast can a purchased C625 be set up in the GTA?
Westin's team delivers and sets up purchased lifts across Brampton and the GTA on a scheduled date. Call (905) 451-7743 for the next opening. Same-day delivery belongs to the rental service, not automatically to a purchased install.
What is the warranty on the C625?
The Handicare C-Series user manual prints 1 year from installation or 18 months from manufacture for new equipment. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work. Details are on our service and repairs page.
