Description
The Handicare C-1000 is a fixed ceiling-lift motor with a 1000 lb (454 kg) safe working load. Westin Healthcare quotes it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes and care rooms in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The motor stays in the track. A strap lowers a carry bar so a person can be transferred in a sling without a floor lift in the room.
Handicare (now Savaria Patient Care) lists the C-1000 with a pneumatic hand control, a digital display, emergency stop, emergency lowering, and emergency manual raising or lowering. It is the 1000 lb motor in the same C-Series family as the Handicare C450 and the Handicare C625. If you want a lithium-ion bariatric cabin instead, see the Savaria M-Series Bariatric.
Who it is for
This motor is for a person whose own weight, plus the sling and any accessories, needs an overhead lift above the C625's 625 lb rating. Homes, long-term care rooms, and hospital rooms use it when a rated track can be planned, or when an existing rail can be checked and approved for 1000 lb. Pick this motor for 1000 lb. If 625 lb is enough, start with the C625. If you want 800, 1000, or 1200 lb in a newer lithium cabin, start with the M-Series Bariatric.
- Home bedrooms and bathrooms that can take a bariatric-rated track
- Long-term care and hospital rooms that need a 1000 lb C-Series motor
- Sites that already use Handicare or Prism C-Series track and need this working load
What you get
A fixed C-1000 cabin stays in the track. The strap pays out, the carry bar comes down, loop slings seat on the hooks, and the motor raises the person. On Manual Traverse you walk the bar along the rail by hand. Power Traverse and Power X/Y add motors that move the lift along the rail, or along an X-Y room-covering layout. Return to Charge (RTC) on the matching code sends the motor back to the charger end stop after a transfer. OMNI charging keeps the motor on charge anywhere on a constant-charge rail. Docking-station codes charge at a fixed end stop.
A tandem C-1000 is a second motor on a second track. The two motors can lift the torso and the legs on separate straps so the person can be positioned in the sling. Handicare's owner's manual says two staff are often required for that layout. Tandem is quoted with the room. It is not a traverse-style on this page.
The installed safe working load is still the lowest rating among motor, track, bar, and sling. Track must be rated at or above 1000 lb. Westin's own team handles delivery and setup through the delivery section below.
Handicare C-1000 specifications
These figures are for the Handicare C-1000 motor, not the smaller C450 / C625 case and not the lithium M-Series Bariatric cabin. Handicare prints a product weight of 24.5 lb (11.1 kg) and a case size of 13.1 x 10.2 x 7.5 in (333 x 259 x 190 mm). Lifting range is up to 96 in (2438 mm).
Rated performance after break-in is 17 to 20 lifts of 24 in at 1000 lb on a full charge. Duty cycle is 1 minute on and 9 minutes off. Batteries are 24 VDC (two 12 V sealed lead-acid cells, 5.0 Ah). The named charger is the Soneil 2403SRM30 (100-240 VAC in, 24 VDC 1.5 A out). After about one hour on charge the motor may be used. Overnight charge is the usual daily practice. Service life is 22,500 cycles or 10 years, whichever comes first. Replace the lifting strap every 5,000 cycles or 3 years, whichever comes first. The case is flame-retardant ABS. The hand control is pneumatic. Standards on the C-Series sheet include ISO 10535:2006, IEC 60601-1, and IEC 60601-1-11.
Do not read the C450 / C625 unit weight, or the M-Series Bariatric 3-year lithium warranty, onto this motor. Those are different listings.

Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts or other lifting devices. Funding routes that can help when the eligibility criteria fit: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship funding programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this ceiling lift across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the hand control before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a ceiling lift first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased lifts are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
Ceiling lifts are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the lift is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Can I rent a patient lift before I buy?
Yes. If you only need a lift for a recovery, or you want to live with a ceiling-lift setup before you buy, rent first. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub and the patient lift rentals page. Westin rents electric floor lifts and ceiling lift setups across Brampton and the GTA.
For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice.
If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.
Which slings and track this lift fits
The C-1000 uses a carry bar with hooks. Handicare's owner's manual shows loop sling straps seated on those hooks before you raise the bar. Brochure bars named for this motor include 2-point 360936 and 360935, 4-point 360934, and QRS swap bars. Tandem uses bar 360765 on two motors. This is a loop attachment, not a clip sit-to-stand bar. Use slings Handicare rates for the bar and for 1000 lb, and never exceed the lowest SWL of the motor, track, bar, or sling.
Shop Westin's matching sling styles: universal slings, full-body slings, toileting slings, and divided-leg slings. Confirm the sling's own safe working load before you pair it with this 1000 lb motor. Sit-to-stand slings belong on sit-to-stand floor lifts, not on this overhead bar.
Handicare's owner's manual says the lift is used with the matching track, accessories, and sling. The rail must be rated at or above 1000 lb. If 625 lb is the real need, stay with the Handicare C625. If you want a lithium-ion bariatric cabin that can go to 1200 lb in one case, see the Savaria M-Series Bariatric.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the lift needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Handicare C-1000 warranty
The C-800 / C-1000 owner's manual states that new equipment is guaranteed against failure for 1 year from the date of installation or 18 months from the date of manufacture, whichever is shorter. Unauthorized service voids that warranty. Water on the motor is not covered. Batteries are covered for 90 days from original purchase. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
Does funding cover a ceiling lift in Ontario?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts. Other routes can help when the person and the assessment fit, including ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship programs. Westin Healthcare works with those programs every week. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before anyone starts paperwork.
What is the safe working load of the Handicare C-1000?
Handicare lists 1000 lb (454 kg) for this motor. The installed system is limited by the lowest rating among the motor, track, carry bar, and sling. If 625 lb is enough, ask about the C625. If you need more than 1000 lb in one cabin, ask about the M-Series Bariatric.
How is the C-1000 different from the C450 and C625?
All three are Handicare C-Series motors with a pneumatic hand control. The C450 is 450 lb and the C625 is 625 lb, in a smaller case. The C-1000 is the 1000 lb bariatric motor in a 24.5 lb case. Use the motor that matches the person.
How is the C-1000 different from the Savaria M-Series Bariatric?
The C-1000 is a sealed-lead-acid C-Series motor at 1000 lb, with a pneumatic hand control and a 1-year / 18-month warranty (90 days on the batteries). The M-Series Bariatric is a lithium-ion cabin with two motors in one case, 800, 1000, or 1200 lb, and a 3-year warranty that includes the battery. They are not the same motor.
What is the C-1000 tandem?
A tandem install puts a second C-1000 motor on a second track so the torso and legs can be lifted on two bars. Handicare names tandem bar 360765 for that layout and says two staff are often required. Ask us for a room plan. It is not one of the Traverse Style codes on this page.
What slings fit the C-1000?
Loop slings on a 2-point or 4-point C-1000 carry bar, including QRS swap bars. Use a sling Handicare rates for that bar and for 1000 lb. Do not put a sit-to-stand sling on this overhead motor, and do not use a 600 lb sling on a 1000 lb lift.
Does the quote include the ceiling track?
No. This listing is quote-only for the motor style you pick. Track, carry bar, and slings are planned with the room and must be rated for 1000 lb. Ask us for a layout before we book the install date.
What happens if the power goes out?
Handicare lists an emergency stop and emergency lowering on the red cord, plus emergency manual raising or lowering with a hex key. Those features are for getting a person down safely, not for everyday use on an empty battery. Keep the batteries charged.
Can I rent a lift before I buy this motor?
Yes. Westin rents electric floor lifts and ceiling lift setups. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub. If you later buy, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program.
How fast can a purchased C-1000 be set up in the GTA?
Westin's team delivers and sets up purchased lifts across Brampton and the GTA on a scheduled date. Call (905) 451-7743 for the next opening. Same-day delivery belongs to the rental service, not automatically to a purchased install.
What is the warranty on the C-1000?
The C-800 / C-1000 owner's manual prints 1 year from installation or 18 months from manufacture for new equipment, and 90 days for batteries. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work. Details are on our service and repairs page.
