The chair for the selected term
Your rental total covers the folding manual wheelchair for the term shown in the table. The minimum term is one week, and extensions are arranged by phone.
Delivery and HST
Delivery, installation and pickup is $120. Customer collection from Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive in Brampton is the alternative. HST is added at checkout.
Amount confirmed before booking
We confirm the deposit amount before you commit. It is refunded after return and inspection, normally within about three business days.
Need only a day or a weekend? Our published minimum is one week. For a single venue visit, check whether the venue has a wheelchair loaner before renting privately.
What size chair do you need?
Seat width is the measurement that matters most. Too narrow and it presses on the hips, too wide and the person slides sideways and loses support. Measure across the widest point of the hips while seated, then add about an inch. If you are unsure, call us with that number and we will tell you which chair to book.
16 inch wide, 18 inch deep
For a smaller adult, and the easiest of the three through a tight hallway or an older bathroom door.
18 inch wide, 18 inch deep
The size most adults are measured into, and the one we are asked for most often after a hospital discharge.
20 inch wide, 20 inch deep
For a larger frame, or for someone who needs more room through the hips and thighs to sit comfortably for a full day.
We keep two chairs in each size. Our rental fleet is made up of different brands in different conditions, so the chair that arrives will match the size and the function you booked, but it will not always look like the one photographed here. Every chair is cleaned and safety checked before it goes out.
Folding manual or transport: which chair do you need?
Choose the folding manual chair when the user needs to propel themselves, or when a caregiver wants the larger rear wheels for outdoor paved routes. Choose a transport chair only when another person will be there to push.
The user can self-propel
Large rear wheels have hand rims the seated user can reach. A caregiver can also push from the handles.
Someone else must push
A transport chair has four small wheels. If nobody will be there to push, do not rent a transport chair.
For pressure and posture needs
A manual tilt chair is for someone who cannot shift their own weight and needs the seat and back to tilt together.
If this is the wrong chair, compare our transport wheelchair rental and manual tilt-in-space wheelchair rental before booking.
How do you measure seat width and check the car boot?
Sit on a firm surface, measure the widest point of the hips, then add one to two inches. That number is the seat width, not the chair's overall width.
Bring the hip measurement
Tell us the measured seat width when you book. We will confirm the actual chair available instead of publishing a fleet size we cannot confirm from the current catalogue.
Measure the opening, not just the floor
The chair folds, but the current folded dimensions and chair weight are not published. Call with the boot opening and we will confirm the actual rental chair before pickup.
Larger wheels are the better choice in slush
Small-wheel transport chairs perform poorly in snow and slush. If the route includes an unplowed walk, choose the larger-wheel folding chair and clear the path before travel.
How fast can you deliver, and where can you see the chair?
When the chair is in stock, we can often deliver the same day or the next day. Urgent hospital discharges should call 905 451-7743 rather than rely on the online calendar.
Collect or see a chair at Westin
Our showroom is Unit 7, 15 Fisherman Drive, Brampton ON L7A 1B7. Call first so we can confirm the chair is ready.
See our partner, not another Westin location
Mobility Specialties is our partner at Unit 16, 106 Humber College Blvd, on the same street as Etobicoke General Hospital. Call ahead to confirm what can be viewed.
Ask Ontario Health atHome first
Ask the social worker or discharge planner about public equipment, or call Ontario Health atHome at 310-2222. Rent privately when that route does not meet the timing or chair need.
What usually goes with a folding wheelchair?
The chair solves mobility. Transfers, toileting and the room setup often need their own equipment.
Does ADP pay for a folding wheelchair rental?
No. ADP does not pay for wheelchair rentals. It can fund up to 75% of the approved purchase price of an eligible manual or power wheelchair and seating, after an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist authorizes it.
Do not buy before approval
The ADP path is for a purchased chair, not this rental. A rental can bridge the gap while a long-term purchase is assessed and reviewed.
OHIP does not pay our retail rental
Ontario Health atHome may arrange equipment through contracted suppliers after an assessment. Its typical rental is 30 days and some fees may apply. Call 310-2222.
Get approval before renting
WSIB, Veterans Affairs and private insurers may help when their rules and approvals apply. Confirm whether they cover rental or only purchase before you commit.
Read the exact purchase rules on our Assistive Devices Program page, then check the funding overview for other programs.
Questions about folding wheelchair rentals
Can the user push themselves?
Yes. This folding manual wheelchair has large rear wheels with hand rims for self-propelling. A caregiver can also push it from behind.
How do I measure seat width?
Sit on a firm surface, measure the widest point of the hips, and add one to two inches. Give us that seat-width measurement so we can confirm the actual chair available.
Can I rent it for one day or a weekend?
Our minimum rental term is one week. For a single attraction visit, check the venue's wheelchair loaner first. The Toronto Zoo publishes a limited complimentary wheelchair program with seasonal online reservations.
Does ADP pay for this rental?
No. ADP does not fund wheelchair rentals. It can fund up to 75% of the approved purchase price of an eligible wheelchair and seating after an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist authorizes it.
How fast can Westin deliver?
When the chair is in stock, we can often deliver the same day or the next day. Call 905 451-7743 for an urgent discharge rather than relying on the online calendar.
Can we extend the rental?
Yes. Call before the current term ends so we can confirm the extension and the next rental total.
Need help choosing the right wheelchair?
Tell us who will push, the hip measurement, the narrowest doorway, the car boot opening and when the chair is needed. We will confirm the current fleet chair before you book.
