Description
The Sunrise Breezy Ultra 4 is a Category 2 folding aluminum wheelchair. Westin Healthcare configures it in Brampton for homes across the Greater Toronto Area after an ADP-registered therapist assessment. Sunrise Medical no longer takes new factory orders for this model. If a leftover frame can still be built, we set it to the seat size from the assessment. If it cannot, we point you to a current Category 2 chair.
When the chair was current, Sunrise listed a 250 lb rating, a 30.9 lb aluminum frame on an 18 by 16 inch setup without hangers, and quick-release rear wheels as standard. Seat sizes ran 14 to 20 inches wide and 16 or 18 inches deep. This is a self-propel chair with large rear wheels and pushrims. A companion can also push from the handles.
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who needs a long-term lightweight folding manual wheelchair in the ADP Category 2 band, and whose therapist names the Ultra 4 (or a current Category 2 stand-in) after an assessment. Families usually call us when they need a folding aluminum frame that the person can self-propel, with a seat in the 14 to 20 inch range and a 250 lb rating.
If you need a current Sunrise Category 2 chair that the factory still builds, start with the Quickie QX. If you want another current Category 2 folder, see the Motion Composites MOVE. A transport chair with small rear wheels is a different product and is not this Ultra 4.
- A Category 2 folding manual after an ADP assessment
- Self-propel use on large rear wheels, or companion push
- A 250 lb Sunrise rating and a folding aluminum frame
Design and build
The frame is T6 6061 aluminum and folds for a car or a closet. Quick-release rear wheels come off with a button so the chair breaks into smaller pieces for a lift. Three axle positions change seat height. Front caster housings angle so the casters stay square when the seat is set on a slope.
Arms flip back for a side transfer. Desk or full pads were offered, with a height-adjustable pair as an option. Hangers swing away. Elevating or articulating hangers were optional. The back can sit at 17, 18, or 19 inches, and an angle-adjustable back was an option. Colours on the Sunrise sheet were Silver Texture, Forest Green, Candy Blue, Black, and Polished Silver.
- Folding aluminum frame
- Quick-release rear wheels
- Flip-back arms and swing-away hangers
- Seat height from 13.5 to 19.5 inches
- 250 lb rating
Breezy Ultra 4 specifications
These figures are from Sunrise's Ultra 4 spec sheet (18 by 16 inch frame without hangers) and the owner's manual. The specification tab holds the stored values. Use these numbers, not leftover Type 1 language, if those still appear on the tab.
Seat 14 to 20 inches wide by 16 or 18 inches deep. Seat height 13.5 to 19.5 inches. Back 17, 18, or 19 inches. Frame weight 30.9 lb on the 18 by 16 setup without hangers. Capacity 250 lb. Rear wheels 20, 22, or 24 inches. Casters 6 or 8 inches.
Warranty for the original purchaser is lifetime on the frame and cross-brace, and one year on Sunrise-made parts. Tires, tubes, upholstery, pads, and grips are outside that term. Sunrise notes that coverage can vary by province.
Chair Size and configuration
The Ultra 4 is built to the seat from the assessment, not pulled off a shelf as a finished everyday cart item. Use Chair Size (Options) to record the seat the therapist measured:
- 16" x 16": 16 inch width and 16 inch depth
- 18" x 16": 18 inch width and 16 inch depth
- 18" x 18": 18 inch width and 18 inch depth
- 20" x 18": 20 inch width and 18 inch depth
Use Configurations with Westin for height-adjustable desk or full arms, an angle-adjustable back, and anti-tippers. Use Accessories only for extras the assessment actually names, such as a seat belt or a tray. Anti-tippers belong in one place, not twice.
This model is a standard self-propel wheelchair. Transport chairs use small rear wheels and are companion-pushed only.
ADP funding for a Category 2 wheelchair in Ontario
This chair is an ADP-eligible category device. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) pays 75% of the approved price for eligible clients, and clients receiving Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD support can be covered for the full cost. The route starts with an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, who confirms the need and the right category before anything is ordered: a chair bought before approval is not reimbursed. Westin Healthcare works with ADP authorizers and submissions every week, configures the chair to the prescription, and walks you through the paperwork. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to start the conversation.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Once the chair is configured to the assessment, Westin's own team delivers it across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, unfold it, and show you the brakes, the fold, the quick-release wheels, and the footrests before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a Category 2 chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date after they are built.
If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Sunrise manufacturer warranty
Sunrise covers the original purchaser for the life of the frame and cross-brace, and for one year on Sunrise-made parts, against defects in materials and workmanship. Wear items such as tires, tubes, upholstery, pads, and grips sit outside that term. Coverage can vary by province. We handle the claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
What does Category 2 mean on this wheelchair?
Category 2 is the Ontario ADP lightweight manual band: a folding chair in the 25 to 38 lb range with swing-away footrests and removable arms. The Ultra 4's 30.9 lb aluminum frame sits in that band. Category 1 is a heavier standard chair over 38 lb. Category 3 adds centre-of-gravity adjustability on a similar weight.
Does Sunrise still make the Ultra 4?
No. Sunrise Medical's Canadian and US pages both say the Ultra 4 is no longer available to order. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will check whether a leftover configuration can still be sourced. If it cannot, we will show you a current Category 2 chair such as the Quickie QX.
Who qualifies for ADP on a Category 2 chair?
You must be an Ontario resident with a valid health card and a disability that needs the device for 6 months or longer. An ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist has to assess you before the chair is ordered. Income is not the test. We cannot promise that a specific person will be approved.
How does the 75 / 25 split work?
For an eligible client, the ADP-registered vendor bills ADP 75% of the approved price and the client pays the remaining 25%, plus any extras that are not on the ADP list. People on Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD can be covered at 100% of the approved price. Talk to us before anything is ordered.
What is the assessment process?
An ADP-registered OT or PT measures the person, names the category and the device, and completes the clinical part of the application. Westin, as the vendor, helps finish the form and submits it. Do not buy the chair first. A device ordered before those steps is not reimbursed.
How long does ADP take?
Ontario aims to review a mobility-aid application within 8 weeks of receiving it. Build and delivery come after approval. We will give you a date once the chair is released, not before.
Can I try a chair before the order is placed?
Come into a Brampton or Toronto store and we will show you a Category 2 folding chair so you can feel the fold, the brakes, and the seat width. A floor chair may not be an Ultra 4, because Sunrise has stopped building that model. A therapist may also trial equipment during the assessment.
How should the seat width fit?
Measure the seated hip width and leave a little room on each side. Sunrise listed 14, 16, 18, and 20 inch widths with 16 or 18 inch depths. Use Chair Size (Options) only after those numbers come from the assessment.
What is the weight capacity?
Sunrise lists 250 lb for the Ultra 4. Stay at or under that rating. If the person is near 250 lb, tell us before we start paperwork so we can confirm the chair class.
What happens if ADP declines the application?
Ontario sends a letter with the reason and the appeal steps. Westin will sit down with you, look at the letter, and talk through an appeal, a different category, or a non-ADP route. We do not order the custom chair until the path is clear.
What is the warranty on the Ultra 4?
Lifetime on the frame and cross-brace for the original purchaser, and one year on Sunrise-made parts. Wear items are outside that term. Westin Healthcare processes the claim. Details are on our service and repairs page.
