Description
The Prism Adjustable Tension Back is a Future Mobility strap wheelchair back for extra comfort and a settable sling. Westin Healthcare fits widths from 14 to 20 in in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area.
Two fixed straps and two removable Velcro straps let the person or the therapist put tension where it is needed. A rear pocket holds small items. Future Mobility prints nylon upholstery and describes all-day comfort and pressure relief. This is not a rigid aluminum shell.
Who this back support is for
This adjustable tension wheelchair back is for a person at or under 250 lb (113 kg) who wants a lighter strap back instead of a rigid foam shell. Families usually call us when the factory sling hammocks and the person still folds the chair every day.
If you need a rigid shell, start with the Prism Basic Back. If you want straps plus cane-mount laterals, see the Prism Multi Backrest. If you want a 7 in rigid pelvic shell on a rigid frame, see the Prism Phantom Back.
- Four tension straps (two fixed, two removable)
- Widths 14-20 in (36-51 cm)
- Low 13 in or High 16 in height bands
Straps, pocket, and fit
Future Mobility's Low band is 13 in high (range printed 13-17 in). The High band is 16 in high (range printed 16-20 in). Widths are 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 in in each band. Custom sizes are a separate order. There is no cane-clamp rigid shell on this model. A seating therapist should set the first strap pattern. We do not give clinical positioning advice. Ask the seating therapist.
Prism Adjustable Tension Back specifications
These figures are Future Mobility's July 2025 Adjustable Tension brochure and August 2024 Canada order form. The specification tab holds the stored values. Use the brochure when they fight.
Capacity 250 lb (113 kg). Product weight 2.6 lb (1.2 kg) at the brochure example of 18 in W x 18 in H. Warranty for the original purchaser: 1 year limited.
Sizes and options
Use Choose Cushion Size for 14-20 in wide by 13 in or 16 in high. That covers Future Mobility's Low and High grids. Ask us if you need a custom cut.
Tension, Multi, or a rigid Prism
The Prism Adjustable Tension Back is the strap-only back. The Prism Multi Backrest keeps the straps and adds small, medium, or large cane laterals. The Prism Basic Back is the first rigid foam shell on the same maker's ladder.
Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario
This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every product qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers this wheelchair back support across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, fit it to the canes, and show you the straps before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a back support first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased seating is delivered on a scheduled date.
This back support is smaller than a hospital bed. If it is going outside the GTA, ask us about parcel or freight shipping. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the back support needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Future Mobility manufacturer warranty
Future Mobility Healthcare warrants the Prism Adjustable Tension Back to the original purchaser for 1 year limited, under normal use. Wear, misuse, and unauthorised changes sit outside that term. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
