Description
The Spex Stylo Head Support is Sunrise Medical's Spex head support for Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Sunrise writes it for long reach and strong ball-and-socket joints when the pad has to sit away from the back or off centre.
This is a quote-only configured head support. The mounting block bolts to the back support. It is not a Whitmyer PLUSH pad on Axys hardware.
Who this head support is for
Sunrise writes Stylo for a person whose therapist needs the pad farther from the back, or offset, because of trunk shape. A seating therapist should confirm Stylo 160 or Stylo 260. This page does not give clinical positioning advice.
- Stylo 160: 160 mm forward reach
- Stylo 260: 260 mm forward reach
- Up to 270 degrees of angle on the ball mount
Stem, pad, and mount hardware
The Spex Stylo Head Support uses extended links and ball-and-socket joints. The machined aluminium stem has two flat edges so it does not rotate. Extra-strong clamps are how Sunrise describes lateral lock-up. The owner's manual prints a 400 lb (180 kg) maximum user weight. Hardware ships loose. The mounting block bolts to the back support. This is not a cane clamp unless a specific adaptor is on the order. We do not invent a cane diameter for Stylo.
Spex Stylo Head Support specifications
These figures are from the current Canadian Stylo card and the Spex Stylo owner's manual. The CA spec table itself is empty of numerics. The specification tab holds the stored values.
Forward reach 160 mm (Stylo 160) or 260 mm (Stylo 260). Angle adjustment up to 270 degrees. Maximum user weight 400 lbs (180 kg) in the owner's manual.
Warranty in the Stylo manual is 24 months for the original purchaser. The removable cover sits outside that term.
Which wheelchair head support
Stay with the Spex Stylo Head Support if long reach and a Spex stem are the brief. The Whitmyer PLUSH Head Support is Sunrise's basic posterior pad. The Whitmyer S.O.F.T. Single adds an independent occipital pad. The Whitmyer Heads Up adds anterior arms.
Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario
This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every product qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased seating is delivered on a scheduled date after the assessment and quote.

Does ADP Cover Wheelchair Head Supports?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program lists positioning devices such as cushions, back supports, and head supports when they are required with a wheelchair. A specific pad still has to go through an ADP-registered therapist assessment. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.

This is a quote-only seating product. Westin configures it after a seating assessment with an occupational therapist or physiotherapist. There is no add-to-cart delivery of a custom or made-to-order seat.
What Is The Difference Between Stylo 160 And Stylo 260?
The Spex Stylo Head Support is sold as Stylo 160 with 160 mm of forward reach or Stylo 260 with 260 mm. Both use the ball-and-socket stem. A seating therapist picks the reach.
