Description
The Spex High Contour Cushion is Sunrise Medical's extra-immersion Spex wheelchair cushion for Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It is the current CA Spex cushion for extra pelvic and hip immersion. It is not the historic High Profile name.
This is a quote-only configured cushion. It uses the same strategic positioning base as Standard Contour, with a higher thigh and abductor contour.
Who this cushion is for
The Spex High Contour Cushion fits a person whose seating therapist wants more pelvic and hip immersion than Standard Contour. A seating therapist should confirm the contour. This page does not give clinical positioning advice.
- Extra pelvic and hip immersion
- Height 2 to 3 inches (5 to 8 cm)
- 200 / 300 lb (90 / 136 kg) on the CA card
Contour, base, and covers
The Spex High Contour Cushion offers enhanced thigh and abductor support on the Spex base. Sunrise repeats the USA laboratory line: five-zone readings with smooth transitions. That is Sunrise's printed line, not a healing promise. Spacer outer and Spextex incontinence covers are included.
Spex High Contour Cushion specifications
These figures are from Sunrise Medical's current Canadian High Contour card. The specification tab holds the stored values.
Height 2 to 3 inches (5 to 8 cm). Width 10 to 20 inches (25 to 50 cm). Depth 10 to 22 inches (25 to 56 cm). Product weight 0.8 to 2.7 kg (1.75 to 6 lbs). User weight 200 lbs (90 kg) on 10-15 inch widths and 300 lbs (136 kg) on 16-20 inch widths on the live CA card.
Warranty in the Spex cushion owner's manual is 24 months for the original purchaser.
Which Spex wheelchair cushion
Stay with the Spex High Contour Cushion if extra immersion on the current CA Spex index is the brief. The Spex Standard Contour Cushion is the milder start. The Spex SuperHigh Contour Cushion is the deepest CA contour. The Spex Flex Cushion is the limited-hip-flexion configuration. The Spex High Profile Cushion name is a reused legacy row and is not on the current CA Spex index.
Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario
This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every product qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers this wheelchair cushion across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, check it against the wheelchair, and show you the cover and any hardware before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a sample first. For a scheduled in-home drop-off, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased seating is delivered on a scheduled date after the assessment and quote.
If the order is going outside the GTA, ask us for a shipping quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the seating needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Sunrise Medical Spex warranty
The Spex cushion owner's manual prints 24 months from purchase on the foam unit, strategic positioning base, outer cover, and incontinence cover for the original purchaser. General wear, punctures, tears, and burns sit outside that term. Sunrise notes that Canadian terms can follow provincial funding rules. We handle the warranty claim with you.
Frequently asked questions
What Size Wheelchair Cushion Do I Need?
A seating therapist measures hip width in sitting and matches the wheelchair seat. Spex CA cards for Standard, High, and SuperHigh Contour print widths 10 to 20 inches (25 to 50 cm) and depths 10 to 22 inches (25 to 56 cm). Ride Java prints discrete widths and depths from 14 to 20 inches.
How Do I Choose Between Gel, Foam, And Air Cushions?
Spex and Ride Designs cushions in this family are foam or custom foam, not a JAY Flow fluid pad and not an air-cell cushion. A seating therapist picks the medium. If the assessment points to fluid or air, ask us about current JAY or ROHO options instead.
Does ADP Cover Wheelchair Cushions?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can help with a wheelchair cushion or back support after an ADP-registered therapist assessment with an eligible mobility device. Eligibility depends on the person. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.
Do I Order This Off The Shelf?
This is a quote-only seating product. Westin configures it after a seating assessment with an occupational therapist or physiotherapist. There is no add-to-cart delivery of a custom or made-to-order seat.
Is High Contour The Same As High Profile?
The Spex High Contour Cushion is the current CA Spex extra-immersion cushion. Spex High Profile is a historic name that is not on the live Canadian Spex cushion index.
What Is The Weight Limit For The Spex High Contour Cushion?
The Spex High Contour Cushion is rated at 200 lbs (90 kg) on 10-15 inch widths and 300 lbs (136 kg) on 16-20 inch widths on Sunrise's current CA card.
How Do I Clean The Spex High Contour Cushion?
The Spex High Contour Cushion has a machine-washable spacer outer cover (40 C / 104 F) and a hand-wash Spextex incontinence cover. Do not bleach. Do not soak the foam.
Can I See This Seating In Brampton?
Westin Healthcare can show Spex, Ride Designs, and Whitmyer samples in the Brampton and Toronto stores when they are on the floor, and can quote a configured product after a seating assessment. Call (905) 451-7743.
