Description

The RGK Tiga Series is a made to measure wheelchair in Canada with three 7020 aluminum frames on one order path: Tiga for everyday use, Tiga FX for the Q-Lock fold, and Tiga Sub4 when the therapist wants the aluminum frame Sunrise guarantees under 4 kg without wheels and cushion. Westin Healthcare is an authorized Sunrise Medical dealer. An occupational therapist or physiotherapist measures the person, Westin and the therapist pick the Tiga frame, and RGK builds that frame to the numbers. This is not a boxed chair that ships the next day.

Sunrise Canada prints Tiga at 17 to 25.35 lb with a 275.5 lb user limit, Tiga FX at 19.8 lb (14.3 lb transport) with a 242.5 lb limit, and Tiga Sub4 at 13.2 lb (7.7 lb transport) with a 242.5 lb limit. Seat width on Tiga is 9.85 to 19.65 in; Tiga Sub4 is 9.8 to 17.3 in. Transit is no on the series card. None of these frames is a sports chair.

Who this chair is for

This series is for a person who will self-propel a made-to-measure aluminum rigid and fits one of the three Tiga frames. Families usually call us when they want RGK's aluminum everyday line instead of titanium Octane or carbon Veypr, or when travel fold (Tiga FX) or a certified Sub4 weight (Tiga Sub4) is the reason to pick a frame.

If you want titanium, see the RGK Octane Sub4 or the RGK Octane FX. If you want a classic titanium box look, see the RGK HiLite.

  • Everyday self-propel use on a 7020 aluminum rigid
  • Three frames: Tiga, Tiga FX, or Tiga Sub4, chosen with the therapist
  • Seat width and depth set after the therapist measures

How RGK measures and builds the chair

Westin meets the person with the therapist, then sends RGK the Tiga, Tiga FX, or Tiga Sub4 order. RGK's made-to-measure process takes more than 30 measurements, draws the frame in CAD, and has one technician build it. Sunrise prints 19 quality checks from measure to handover. The frame name is written on the order, along with open or closed front, colour, camber, and back.

A floor chair, if we can show one, will not match every prescribed size. Do not buy the chair before an ADP application is in motion if you need the program to pay its share.

Design and build

Tiga is the aluminum everyday rigid, open or closed. Tiga Sub4 is the same idea with every tube and fastener reviewed for weight; Sunrise guarantees that frame under 4 kg without wheels and cushion and writes the exact weight on the certified frame. Standard Sub4 spec includes compact wheel locks, carbon fibre side guards with a fender, casters, a carbon fibre footrest cover, and Airtech-style mesh upholstery with titanium buckles.

Tiga FX uses the Q-Lock: remove the cushion, flatten the sideguards, fold the front frame under the seat rail, fold the back, and take off the quick-release wheels. Sunrise says it can slip into airline overhead bins and most car trunks, and also says it may not fit every bin, so check with the airline. Camber on the series card is 0, 1, 2, 3, or 5 degrees. Centre of gravity is adjustable or fixed.

RGK Tiga Series specifications

These figures are for the Tiga Series on Sunrise Medical's Canadian card. The specification tab holds the stored values. Do not mix Tiga numbers with Octane or HiLite.

Frame material: 7020 aluminum. Transit: no. Tiga: 17 to 25.35 lb, 275.5 lb user limit, seat 9.85 to 19.65 in, seat-to-floor 15 to 21.5 in, back 6 to 23.5 in. Tiga FX: 19.8 lb, 14.3 lb transport, 242.5 lb user limit. Tiga Sub4: 13.2 lb, 7.7 lb transport, 242.5 lb user limit, seat 9.8 to 17.3 in, front seat-to-floor 15 to 20.5 in, rear 14.2 to 19.7 in. Back angle -10 to +20 degrees. Frame angle and lower-leg length are bespoke.

RGK's everyday owner's manual family prints 5 years on the frame and cross-braces and 12 months on other parts. Sunrise Canada says warranty coverage may vary from one province to another depending on funding requirements. Ask us which insert ships with the Tiga frame on the order.

Tiga or another made to measure wheelchair

Pick Tiga when aluminum and a wide size band matter. Pick Tiga FX when the Q-Lock fold is the point. Pick Tiga Sub4 when the certified under-4 kg aluminum frame is the point. Titanium everyday chairs sit on the Octane Sub4 and Octane FX pages. Carbon sits on the Veypr Sub4 page.

Funding help for a wheelchair in Ontario

This chair is an ADP-eligible category device. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) pays 75% of the approved price for eligible clients, and clients receiving Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD support can be covered for the full cost. The route starts with an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, who confirms the need and the right category before anything is ordered: a chair bought before approval is not reimbursed. Westin Healthcare works with ADP authorizers and submissions every week, configures the chair to the prescription, and walks you through the paperwork. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to start the conversation.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this made-to-measure wheelchair across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, confirm the prescribed Tiga frame, and show you the wheel locks and the quick-release rear wheels before we leave. On a Tiga FX we also show the Q-Lock fold.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather talk through the measurement first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; a purchased custom wheelchair is delivered on a scheduled date.

If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty

When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Sunrise Medical manufacturer warranty

RGK's everyday owner's manual family prints 5 years on the frame and cross-braces and 12 months on other Sunrise parts for the original purchaser. Tires, tubes, and pads sit outside that term. Sunrise Canada says the term can also vary by province and funding rules. We handle the claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

Which Tiga Frame Should We Order?

The RGK Tiga Series has three frames. Tiga is the everyday aluminum rigid. Tiga FX adds the Q-Lock fold. Tiga Sub4 is the certified under-4 kg aluminum frame. The therapist and Westin write one of those three names on the order.

How Light Is The Tiga Sub4?

Sunrise Canada prints the Tiga Sub4 at 13.2 lb, with a 7.7 lb transport weight, and guarantees that frame under 4 kg without wheels and cushion. The exact weight is written on the certified frame.

What Is The Weight Capacity?

The RGK Tiga is rated at 275.5 lb. Tiga FX and Tiga Sub4 are rated at 242.5 lb. Stay at or under the rating on the frame that is ordered.

Does The Tiga Fold?

Tiga and Tiga Sub4 do not fold. Tiga FX uses the Q-Lock fold. Sunrise says it can fit many overhead bins and also says it may not fit every bin, so check with the airline.

What Does Made To Measure Mean On The Tiga Series?

A made to measure wheelchair in Canada is built after the therapist and Westin write the person's measurements on the RGK order. RGK takes more than 30 measurements and builds the Tiga, Tiga FX, or Tiga Sub4 frame that was named.

How Should The Seat Width Be Chosen?

The therapist measures seated hip width. Tiga offers 9.85 to 19.65 in. Tiga Sub4 offers 9.8 to 17.3 in. Do not guess a width from a photo.

Who Qualifies For ADP On This Chair?

Ontario residents with a valid health card whose disability needs a mobility device for six months or longer, after an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist assesses them. We cannot promise that a specific person will qualify. A chair bought before those steps is not reimbursed.

How Does The 75 / 25 Split Work?

ADP can fund 75% of the approved price for eligible clients. The person pays the remaining 25% unless they are on Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD, in which case ADP can cover 100% of that approved price. Extra items that are not on the approved list are paid separately.

Can I Try A Tiga Before We Order?

Come into a Brampton or Toronto store and ask what we can show. A floor chair will not match every prescribed size. We will tell you honestly what is on the floor.

What Is The Warranty?

RGK's everyday owner's manual family prints 5 years on the frame and cross-braces and 12 months on other parts. Sunrise Canada says the term can vary by province. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.

What If ADP Declines The Application?

ADP sends a letter with the reason and how to follow up, including an appeal. The chair should not have been bought yet. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will read the letter with you. Other routes sit on the funding page.
