Description
The RGK Octane Sub4 is a made to measure wheelchair in Canada: a Grade 9 titanium rigid frame that Sunrise Medical guarantees under 8.8 lb (4 kg) without the rear wheels and cushion. Westin Healthcare is an authorized Sunrise Medical dealer. An occupational therapist or physiotherapist measures the person, Westin writes the RGK order, and RGK builds the frame to those numbers. This is not a boxed chair that ships the next day.
Sunrise Canada prints more than 30 measurements down to a 5 mm (0.25 in) tolerance. Seat width and depth run 250 to 440 mm (9.8 to 17.3 in). The user limit on the Canada card is 242 lb; RGK's UK card prints 110 kg, which matches that pound figure. Rear wheels come off for the car. The frame does not fold. It is not a sports chair and it is not a transport chair.
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who will self-propel a made-to-measure titanium rigid, fits the Octane Sub4 size range, and stays at or under 242 lb (110 kg). Families usually call us when the therapist wants the lightest everyday RGK titanium frame, or when lifting the chair into a car is the daily problem.
If you need the same titanium family with a Q-Lock fold for travel, see the RGK Octane FX. If you want carbon instead of titanium, see the RGK Veypr Sub4.
- Everyday self-propel use on a rigid titanium frame
- A frame Sunrise guarantees under 8.8 lb (4 kg) without wheels and cushion
- Seat width and depth set after the therapist measures, not from a stock list
How RGK measures and builds the chair
Westin meets the person with the therapist, then sends RGK the order. RGK's made-to-measure process takes more than 30 measurements, draws the frame in CAD, and has one technician build it. Sunrise prints 19 quality checks from measure to handover. The RGK Genius program on the Canada card is the RGK specialist who works with the rider, the clinician, and the provider. Westin is that provider in Brampton and the GTA.
Colour, camber, axle, back, and upholstery are written on the RGK order form. A floor chair, if we can show one, will not match every prescribed size. Do not buy the chair before an ADP application is in motion if you need the program to pay its share.
Design and build
The Octane Sub4 uses Grade 9 titanium for the frame. Sunrise describes titanium as strong as steel and about 45% lighter, with built-in shock absorption and high corrosion resistance, including salt water. The Canada card lists a sports bearing housing, a low-profile caster arm, low-profile cross braces, titanium sleeves on the axle and pin, compact wheel locks, carbon fibre sideguards with a fender, a carbon fibre footplate, and titanium fasteners. Single-tube or dual-tube is an order-form choice.
Airtech Sub4 upholstery is a mesh strap seat and a tension-adjustable back with low-profile titanium buckles and Kevlar-reinforced wings. Spinergy cast carbon fibre wheels, sideguards, and footplate are optional on the Canada card. Camber on that card is 1 to 3 degrees. Centre of gravity adjusts 0 to 178 mm (0 to 7.0 in).
RGK Octane Sub4 specifications
These figures are for model SBT on Sunrise Medical's Canadian card. The specification tab holds the stored values. Do not mix them with Octane FX or Veypr numbers.
Frame: Grade 9 titanium, rigid. Product weight: less than 8.8 lb (4 kg) guaranteed, excluding wheels and cushion. User weight: 242 lb (110 kg). Seat width 9.8 to 17.3 in (250 to 440 mm). Seat depth 9.8 to 17.3 in. Front seat-to-floor 15.0 to 20.5 in. Rear seat-to-floor 14.2 to 21.7 in. Back height 8.0 to 17.0 in. Back angle 20 degrees total (10 forward and 10 rearward from 90). Frame angle follows occupied frame length; most common 60 to 90 degrees. Transit: no.
The Octane Sub4 owner's manual (P/N 256936 Rev. D) prints 5 years on the frame and cross-braces and 12 months on other parts for the original purchaser. Consumables such as tires and tubes sit outside that term. Sunrise Canada also says warranty coverage may vary from one province to another depending on funding requirements. Ask us which insert ships with a Canadian order.
Octane Sub4 or another made to measure wheelchair
The Octane Sub4 is RGK's lightest everyday titanium rigid. The Octane FX keeps titanium and adds the Q-Lock fold for a car trunk or an airplane cabin. The Veypr Sub4 is the carbon wheelchair in the same Sub4 weight class, and Sunrise Canada prints it 10% lighter than this Octane. If you want a current Sunrise rigid that is already on the ADP Type 4 shelf, see the Quickie GP.
Funding help for a wheelchair in Ontario
This chair is an ADP-eligible category device. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) pays 75% of the approved price for eligible clients, and clients receiving Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD support can be covered for the full cost. The route starts with an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, who confirms the need and the right category before anything is ordered: a chair bought before approval is not reimbursed. Westin Healthcare works with ADP authorizers and submissions every week, configures the chair to the prescription, and walks you through the paperwork. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to start the conversation.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this made-to-measure wheelchair across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, confirm the prescribed fit, and show you the wheel locks and the quick-release rear wheels before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather talk through the measurement first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; a purchased custom wheelchair is delivered on a scheduled date.
If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Sunrise Medical manufacturer warranty
The Octane Sub4 owner's manual prints 5 years on the frame and cross-braces and 12 months on other Sunrise parts for the original purchaser. Tires, tubes, and pads sit outside that term, as do neglect, accident, misuse, and unauthorized changes. Sunrise Canada says the term can also vary by province and funding rules. We handle the claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
What Does Made To Measure Mean In Canada?
A made to measure wheelchair in Canada is built after the therapist and the dealer write the person's measurements on the RGK order. RGK takes more than 30 measurements, down to a 5 mm tolerance on the Octane Sub4, then builds that frame. Westin is the authorized Sunrise dealer that sends the order and hands the chair over.
How Light Is The Octane Sub4?
The RGK Octane Sub4 frame is guaranteed under 8.8 lb (4 kg), excluding the rear wheels and the cushion. Sunrise writes the exact weight on a certified Sub4 frame in the same family. Plan on adding wheel and cushion weight for the lift into a car.
What Is The Weight Capacity?
The RGK Octane Sub4 is rated at 242 lb (110 kg). Stay at or under that rating. Tell us before we write the order if the person is near that number.
Does The Octane Sub4 Fold?
The RGK Octane Sub4 frame does not fold. Rear wheels come off for the car. If you need a fold, the Octane FX is the Q-Lock titanium chair in this family.
Who Pushes This Chair?
The person in the Octane Sub4 pushes with the handrims on the large rear wheels. A companion can also push from the back if push handles are on the order. Engage both wheel locks before sitting or standing.
Can I Take The Octane Sub4 In A Car?
Yes. Take the rear wheels off and lift the rigid frame. Sunrise does not print a folded size because the frame does not fold. The Canada card marks transit as no, so this is not a vehicle seat unless the order includes crash-tested hardware and the vehicle is set up for it.
How Should The Seat Width Be Chosen?
The therapist measures seated hip width. Sunrise offers 9.8 to 17.3 in (250 to 440 mm) on the Octane Sub4, in 5 mm steps. Do not guess a width from a photo.
Who Qualifies For ADP On This Chair?
Ontario residents with a valid health card whose disability needs a mobility device for six months or longer, after an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist assesses them. We cannot promise that a specific person will qualify. A chair bought before those steps is not reimbursed.
How Does The 75 / 25 Split Work?
ADP can fund 75% of the approved price for eligible clients. The person pays the remaining 25% unless they are on Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD, in which case ADP can cover 100% of that approved price. Extra items that are not on the approved list are paid separately.
Can I Try An Octane Sub4 Before We Order?
Come into a Brampton or Toronto store and ask what we can show. A floor chair will not match every prescribed size. We will tell you honestly what is on the floor.
What Is The Warranty?
The Octane Sub4 owner's manual prints 5 years on the frame and cross-braces and 12 months on other parts. Sunrise Canada says the term can vary by province. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
What If ADP Declines The Application?
ADP sends a letter with the reason and how to follow up, including an appeal. The chair should not have been bought yet. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will read the letter with you. Other routes sit on the funding page.
