The Span America Encore Bed USB Charging Port MC9, Factory Installed (manufacturer code Q6768) is Span's USB charging kit for the Encore MC9 bed. Savaria lists the USB Charging Kit in the Encore accessory line-up, and the 2026 Savaria pricelist splits it into a separate order code for each bed platform and each install mode. Westin Healthcare specifies, supplies and services Span beds in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area.

This is the factory code. It goes on a new bed order and arrives already fitted and tested, so the bed is delivered ready to use. To add a USB charging port to a Encore MC9 that is already in a room, order the field-install version instead, Q6763.

Which beds this fits

Read this before you order. Savaria supplies a different USB port code for each bed platform, and the codes are not interchangeable. This page is Q6768.

The bed and control box labels identify the platform. If you cannot find it, call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number from the bed label and we will identify it before anything is ordered. One check that saves money

Some Span factory builds already include the USB charger, so adding this code on top would pay for the same thing twice. The 2026 Savaria pricelist describes these builds as boxed with a factory installed USB charger:

• MC9RWB-C, the Encore ReadyWide with a factory USB charger, boxed.
• MC9RWZB-C, the same build with the backup battery added.

If you are ordering one of those builds, the charging port is in the bed and you do not add a separate line. If you are ordering a plain build, this code is how you add it. Tell us which build you are quoting and we will make sure the line is right.

What the charging port does

It puts a powered USB socket on the bed, so a phone, a tablet or a hearing aid case charges from the bed's own supply. The point is not convenience. A Span low bed travels from 7-7/8 inches to 31 inches and moves through Trendelenburg and Comfort Chair on the way, and every charger cord trailing from a power bar under that frame is something to snag, pinch or trip over. One socket that travels with the bed removes the cord run.

• Charging stays with the resident rather than with the outlet on the far wall
• No extension cord or power bar running under a bed that changes height
• The socket moves with the bed when the bed is relocated
• Housekeeping and maintenance have one less cord to work around under the frame

Span does not publish the number of ports, the connector type, the output current, the cable length or the mounting position for any of the six USB codes, and we will not invent them. Span America manufacturer warranty

Span Medical Products Canada warrants beds and bed accessories against defects in workmanship and materials under normal and proper use from the date of initial delivery. Batteries, hand pendants, foot end controllers and cables carry one year, bed accessories carry one year, and parts subject to wear carry one year. Electrical components, which Span defines as the control box and the actuators, carry five years. The frame and all welds on steel structural components carry fifteen years. Labour for service is not covered by the manufacturer warranty. We handle the claim with you.

Frequently asked questions

What is the manufacturer code?

Q6768. The 2026 Savaria pricelist prints it as "Encore USB Port MC9, FACTORY INSTALL". Quote that code and the bed platform together and the order desk cannot pick the wrong one.

Should I order factory or field?

Factory if the bed has not been built yet, because it arrives fitted and tested with the bed. Field if the bed is already in a room, because a technician fits it there. Savaria offers the USB charging port both ways on this platform: Q6768 for factory and Q6763 for field.

Will this fit any Span bed?

No. This code is for the Span Encore bed, MC9 series. Savaria supplies a different code for each platform, and they are not interchangeable. The table above lists all six. If you are not sure which bed you have, call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number from the bed label.

How do I know whether my bed is TiMOTION or LINAK?

The bed and control box labels identify it. Savaria keys the ReadyWide options list to the control system, so the Standard builds take the TiMOTION parts and the Plus takes the LINAK parts. If you cannot find the label, call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number and we will check before anything is ordered. This is the one check worth making.

How many ports is it, and what connector?

Span does not publish the port count or the connector type for any of the six USB codes, so we do not quote one. If your specification needs that detail, ask us and we will get it from Savaria in writing before you order.

Can I just use a power bar under the bed instead?

You can, but a bed that changes height and tilts is a poor place for a trailing cord. Span builds the charging port into the bed for that reason. If the room already has a mattress pump or another powered accessory under the frame, cord management matters even more.

Does it affect the bed's safe working load?

Span states that the safe working load includes the weight of accessories, options and bedding, so every option you add uses part of that allowance. The published safe working load is 600 lb (272 kg) on the Encore MC9, 500 lb (227 kg) on the Standard ReadyWide MC7 and 650 lb (295 kg) on the ReadyWide Plus.

What is the warranty?

One year. Span puts bed accessories and cables in its one-year row rather than in the five-year electrical components row. Labour for service is not part of the manufacturer warranty. Our own service and repairs department handles the claim with you.
