Description

The HealthCraft P.T. Rail is HealthCraft's flip-up toilet safety rail, made in Ottawa, Ontario. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes across the Greater Toronto Area. The stored SKU PT-WR28L-SS is the 28 in brushed stainless rail for the left side. Use Rail Finish, Length, and Side for white or stainless, 28, 32, or 36 in, and left or right.

This is a wall-mounted HealthCraft P.T. Rail, not a SuperPole and not an Advantage Rail. HealthCraft rates the P.T. Rail at 400 lb (181 kg). The rail folds up against the wall on a tension hinge and holds its position, including halfway.

Who this P.T. Rail is for

The HealthCraft P.T. Rail is for a person who wants a flip-up rail beside a toilet, stays at or under HealthCraft's 400 lb (181 kg) rating, and has a structurally sound wall HealthCraft will accept. Families here usually call when they want a left or right offset rail that folds away when the room has to stay open.

  • 400 lb (181 kg). Rail 1.50 in (38 mm). Offset 2.0 in (51 mm)
  • 28, 32, or 36 in (711, 813, or 914 mm). Left or right. White or stainless
  • All four mounts into structural wood, or HealthCraft's concrete method

Length, side, and finish

Use Length for 28, 32, or 36 in. HealthCraft measures the rail from the wall plate out. Sitting on the toilet, a left P.T. Rail is on your left and a right P.T. Rail is on your right. The rails are offset, so the side matters.

Use Rail Finish for brushed stainless (SS) or anti-microbial white powder coat (PCW). White rails are steel. Stainless rails are stainless steel. HealthCraft's February 2026 sheet lists 36 in stainless as PT-WR36L-SS and PT-WR36R-SS. The wall plate is 5.5 x 9 in (140 x 229 mm). HealthCraft prints a limited lifetime warranty and says the product is not intended for outdoor use.

HealthCraft's suggested rail height is 32-34 in (813-864 mm). If you put one rail on each side of the toilet, HealthCraft suggests 28-32 in (711-813 mm) between the top rails.

Installation, as HealthCraft prints it

The P.T. Rail is a structural wall mount. It is not a tension pole and it is not a clamp-on tub rail. HealthCraft: the P.T. Rail must be installed to walls that are structurally sound. Add wood blocking if required. Do not install if the structure behind the wall is unknown. Do not install into metal studs.

HealthCraft's current FAQ: all four mounting points must secure to structural wood. Two bolts into a stud are not enough. The carton includes 1/4 in x 3 in lag bolts for wood, with a minimum 2 in (51 mm) of thread engagement. Concrete needs anchors and bolts HealthCraft does not include. If you use other fasteners, HealthCraft wants a retention force of at least 600 lb (272 kg). Follow the HealthCraft instruction sheet in the carton. We follow that sheet when we install the rail. If you are not equipped to do that work, HealthCraft recommends a qualified contractor.

HealthCraft prints that the rail is intended to bear weight only when the handle is down. The handle is intended to be folded up when it is not in use. The tension hinge holds the rail so it does not drop on its own. There is a pinch point between the rail and the wall plate. HealthCraft also prints that the rail and a bathtub are slippery when wet.

HealthCraft P.T. Rail specifications

These figures are from HealthCraft's current P.T. Rail page, the February 2026 technical data sheet, and DC110. The specification tab holds the stored values. Use HealthCraft when they fight.

Stainless about 11 lb (5.0 kg). White about 15 lb (6.8 kg). Limited lifetime. Not for outdoor use. Bear weight only with the handle down. Not full-body-weight support.

Finish, length, and side

Use Rail Finish, Length, and Side for the HealthCraft code you need (for example PT-WR28L-SS, PT-WR32R-PCW, PT-WR36L-SS). The default carton is 28 in stainless left. Ask us if you need HealthCraft's P.T. Rail Floor Mast when a wall is not feasible. We do not have a separate Floor Mast page.

P.T. Rail, SuperPole, or a wall grab bar

This page is the HealthCraft P.T. Rail, a flip-up toilet rail. The HealthCraft SuperPole with SuperBar is a floor to ceiling grab pole. The HealthCraft Advantage Rail is a floor-mounted mast with a pivot rail. A straight wall bar such as the HealthCraft Easy Mount knurled is a different HealthCraft family with a 9-hole flange.

Funding help for bathroom safety equipment in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund bathroom safety equipment, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada's Home and Vehicle Modification Program, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), extended health plans, and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers this P.T. Rail across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. When we install it, we follow the HealthCraft sheet: structurally sound wall, wood blocking if HealthCraft requires it, all four mounts, and the supplied lags or the concrete method HealthCraft names.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see left versus right and the 2 in offset first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased rails are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

Frequently asked questions

Do Grab Bars Need Studs?

The HealthCraft P.T. Rail is not a 9-hole Easy Mount bar. HealthCraft prints that all four mounting points must secure to structural wood, and that two bolts into a stud are not enough. Do not install into metal studs. Do not install if the structure behind the wall is unknown. Follow the HealthCraft sheet.

How Do I Choose Left Or Right On The P.T. Rail?

HealthCraft prints that when you sit on the toilet, the left P.T. Rail is on your left and the right P.T. Rail is on your right. The rails are offset, so the side is not reversible in the field.

What Is The Weight Capacity Of The HealthCraft P.T. Rail?

HealthCraft rates the P.T. Rail at 400 lb (181 kg). HealthCraft also prints that it is not intended to support full body weight, and that it bears weight only with the handle down. Stay at or under that rating.

Does The P.T. Rail Lock When It Is Folded Up?

HealthCraft prints that there is not a distinct locking mechanism. The P.T. Rail uses a tension hinge that holds the rail in position, including halfway up.

What Length P.T. Rail Should I Choose?

HealthCraft offers 28, 32, and 36 in. HealthCraft's suggested height is 32-34 in from the floor. If you put a rail on both sides, HealthCraft suggests 28-32 in between the top rails. Hold the rail in place and walk through the transfer before you drill.

Can The P.T. Rail Go Outside?

HealthCraft does not recommend installing the P.T. Rail for outdoor use. The product page also says the product is not intended for outdoor use.

Is This A HealthCraft Rail Or Another Brand?

This is HealthCraft's P.T. Rail. The default code PT-WR28L-SS is on HealthCraft's current P.T. Rail page and on HealthCraft's February 2026 technical data sheet.

What Is The Warranty?

HealthCraft prints a limited lifetime warranty on the P.T. Rail. Westin Healthcare processes the manufacturer claim with you.
