Description
The Golden Comforter Wide lift chair is Golden Technologies' 3-position wide Comforter, model PR531, with wider seats and a second motor for lift capacity. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Three sizes cover the wide series: PR531-SXW Small/Wide, PR531-MXW Medium/Wide, and PR531-TXW Tall/Wide.
Golden's Canada sheet rates Small/Wide at 400 lb (181 kg) and Medium/Wide and Tall/Wide at 500 lb (227 kg). The Canada Wide card says 500 lb for the series. The current sell sheet splits 400 lb on Small/Wide and 500 lb on the two larger wides. The second motor does not let the back and footrest travel on their own. This is still a 3-position chair.
Who this lift chair is for
This lift chair is for someone who needs a wider 3-position Golden than the standard Comforter, including 500 lb (227 kg) Medium/Wide and Tall/Wide frames, without MaxiComfort. Families usually call us when a 21 or 23 inch Comforter is too narrow and they do not need independent back and footrest motors.
It is not the standard Comforter. That is the Golden Comforter PR-531 in Petite/Small, Medium, Large, and Tall. It is not MaxiComforter. That is the Golden MaxiComforter PR-535, which is infinite. If you want a 600 lb MaxiComfort wide, that is PR535-M28 on the MaxiComforter page.
- 3-position Comforter Wide, made in the USA
- 23, 27, or 29 inch seats (58, 69, or 74 cm)
- Two motors for lift capacity, not for independent recline
Heavy duty lift chair positioning
Comfort Zone 1 is Golden's lower-body motion on a two-button hand control. The back and footrest travel together. Golden's Canada Wide card is explicit: the second motor increases lift capacity. It does not add MaxiComfort. USB charging sits on the hand control. Heat and massage and a footrest extension are Golden options.
Size and wall space
Golden's current Canada sell sheet prints these wides as SXW, MXW, and TXW. Some Golden photos still use older S23, M26, and T28 size labels for the same three frames. We confirm the invoiced code when you order.

Golden Comforter Wide specifications
These figures are for Golden PR531-SXW, PR531-MXW, and PR531-TXW as printed on Golden's current Canada Comforter sell sheet. The specification tab holds the stored values.
Positioning 3, 1 zone, Twilight no, ZG+ no, chaise yes, pocketed coil no on the three wides. Seam back with a bolt-on removable back. Head and arm covers standard. USB on the hand control. 9-volt battery backup. SmartTek standard. Place of origin USA. HeatWave no. Powered headrest no. Power lumbar no.
Colour and size options
Ask us for Small/Wide, Medium/Wide, or Tall/Wide and for the chenille colour you want. Golden's Canada standard five are Anchor, Bittersweet, Oxford, Port, and Sandstorm, with stain defense. Crossover fabrics carry a Golden upcharge. Heat and massage and the footrest extension are options, not colours.
3-position, MaxiComfort, or 4-zone
Golden's Canada lineup is a comfort-zone ladder, not a Pride VivaLift clone. A 1-zone chair is a 3-position lift chair: the back and footrest travel together on a two-button hand control. Our 1-zone Goldens are the Comforter PR-531, the Comforter Wide, the Elara, the Aurora, and the Austin.
A 2-zone chair adds MaxiComfort so the back and footrest travel on their own. That is the Cloud PR-510, the MaxiComforter PR-535, and the Relaxer.
A 4-zone chair keeps MaxiComfort and adds a powered headrest and powered lumbar: the Cloud Plus, the EZ Sleeper Slim, the Dione, and the Rhea. Twilight is a fifth zone on chairs we already sell, starting with the Golden PR515 Cloud with Twilight. None of the chairs on this Golden Classic set is a Twilight chair.
Funding help for a lift chair in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund lift chairs, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), extended health plans, and community programs, and a lift chair's lift mechanism may qualify as a medical expense on a Canadian tax return when prescribed. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this lift chair across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the hand control before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a lift chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased lift chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
Lift chairs are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Golden manufacturer warranty
Golden warrants the chair frame, lift frame, and recline mechanism to the original purchaser for life against breakage from defective materials or workmanship. Labour on those parts is subsidized for three years. Electrical parts (hand control, motor, transformer, control box, heating pad, massage unit) are covered for three years, then prorated in years four through seven. Electrical labour is subsidized for one year. The warranty is residential only. It does not cover misuse, non-residential use, or exceeding the printed weight capacity. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
What Size Lift Chair Do I Need?
The Golden Comforter Wide lift chair is sold in Small/Wide, Medium/Wide, and Tall/Wide. Seats are 23, 27, and 29 inches (58, 69, and 74 cm). Small/Wide is rated 400 lb (181 kg). Medium/Wide and Tall/Wide are rated 500 lb (227 kg). We confirm the fit in the showroom.
How Far From the Wall Does a Lift Chair Need to Be?
The Golden Comforter Wide lift chair needs 16 inches (41 cm) from the wall on Small/Wide, 18 inches (46 cm) on Medium/Wide, and 21 inches (53 cm) on Tall/Wide when it is fully reclined. That is closer than most MaxiComfort chairs in this family.
What Is the Difference Between a 3 Position and an Infinite Position Lift Chair?
A 3-position lift chair moves the back and footrest together through sit, TV, and recline. An infinite-position Golden MaxiComfort chair moves them on their own, so the person can sit up with the legs out or lie flatter. Golden's 4-zone chairs add a powered headrest and lumbar on top of that MaxiComfort motion. Twilight, sold on other Golden pages, adds a fifth tilt zone.
What Is the Weight Capacity of the Comforter Wide?
The Golden Comforter Wide lift chair is rated 400 lb (181 kg) on PR531-SXW and 500 lb (227 kg) on PR531-MXW and PR531-TXW on Golden's current Canada sell sheet. Stay at or under the rating for the size you order.
What Fabrics Can I Choose?
The Golden Comforter Wide lift chair uses Golden chenille SofTouch fabrics with stain defense. The Canada standard five are Anchor, Bittersweet, Oxford, Port, and Sandstorm.
Why Does It Have Two Motors?
The Golden Comforter Wide lift chair uses two heavy-duty motors so the lift can carry the wider, higher-capacity frames. Golden's Canada card states the second motor does not allow independent backrest and footrest motion. It is still a 3-position chair.
How Is It Different From the Comforter?
The Golden Comforter Wide lift chair is the wide PR531. The Golden Comforter PR-531 is the standard-width four-size ladder at 400 lb (181 kg) with a pocketed coil seat. Wide seats start at 23 inches (58 cm) and the two larger wides are 500 lb (227 kg) without a pocketed coil on the sheet.
Can Funding Help With a Lift Chair in Ontario?
Funding support for a lift chair in Ontario depends on the person's situation and assessment. Westin Healthcare works with funding programs every week. Start on our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 before you buy.
What Is the Warranty on the Golden Comforter Wide?
The Golden Comforter Wide lift chair carries Golden's lifetime coverage on the chair frame, lift frame, and recline mechanism for the original purchaser, three years on electrical parts, then a prorated schedule through year seven. Mechanical labour is subsidized for three years. Electrical labour is subsidized for one year. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
