Description
The Span America Digital Floor Lift Scale weighs a person during a transfer they were already having, manufacturer code P11634. It reads up to 660 lb (300 kg) in 0.2 lb (0.1 kg) steps on a backlit LCD, in pounds or kilograms, from a die-cast aluminum body that Span America describes as compact enough not to significantly change the lifting range of the lift. Westin Healthcare stocks lift parts in Brampton and ships them across the Greater Toronto Area.
It is the best-documented part in this range and one of the most useful: Span America publishes a full specification sheet for it, so everything on this page is a printed figure rather than an estimate.
Why weigh on the lift
Weighing somebody who cannot stand normally means a second transfer: onto a chair scale, or onto a bed with load cells, or nothing at all and a number written from memory. A lift scale removes that step. The weight is read during a transfer the person was having anyway, on the equipment already carrying them, by the caregiver already in the room.
That matters most where the weight is a clinical measurement rather than a record-keeping chore: fluid balance, dialysis, wound and nutrition programs, and any medication dosed by body mass. A weekly weight that actually gets taken beats a monthly one that keeps getting skipped because it needs a second person and a second machine.
What it does in use
- Zero and tare. Tare the sling before the person is in it and the display reads the person, not the person plus the fabric. The tare range runs to 100 per cent of full scale, so there is no realistic sling it cannot subtract.
- Display hold. Freezes the reading, so the caregiver can complete the transfer and write the number down afterwards rather than reading a swinging display over their shoulder.
- Unit switch. Pounds or kilograms, whichever the chart is in.
- Backlit LCD. A 50 mm x 20 mm display, readable in a dim room at night without turning the lights on.
- Battery life display and auto power off. Three AA cells, included, with over 150 hours of battery life, and the scale turns itself off rather than draining them.
- Overload warning. Sounds at full scale plus 2 lb (1 kg), and the body is built to a safety load of 120 per cent of full scale.
What it does not change
Fitting a scale does not raise what the lift can lift. The scale reads to 660 lb (300 kg) because a load cell is cheaper to over-build than a hoist. Your lift keeps the safe working load on its own product label, and the rating of the whole assembly is the lowest rating on it, counting the lift, the spreader bar, the scale and the sling.
It does take up a little room in the lifting range. Span America's own claim is careful and worth repeating exactly: its compact size will not significantly change the lifting range of the patient lift. The body measures 4.29 in across, 2.94 in between the hook centres and 5.40 in overall, and weighs 1.5 lb. If your transfers are already tight at the top or the bottom of the lift's travel, measure before you order, and we will measure with you if it is close.
Accuracy in practice
Span America publishes a 0.2 lb (0.1 kg) resolution, a high accuracy loadcell and a zero range of 4 per cent of full scale. Two things get in the way of that in a real room, and neither is a fault:
- Movement. A person swinging in a sling is a moving load. Let the lift settle before reading, and use display hold rather than chasing the numbers.
- What is in the sling. Tare with the sling on the hook and nothing else, and be consistent about blankets, shoes and pillows if the reading is going into a trend.
One thing Span America does not publish is a calibration or recertification schedule for Canada, or whether a calibration certificate ships against the serial number. If the weight is going into a clinical record, ask us at the point of order and we will get both in writing from Savaria.

Every figure in that table is printed by Span-America on its own info sheet for P11634, which is unusual in this range and is why this page carries numbers where its neighbours carry caveats. The dimensions come from the front and side elevation drawings on the same sheet. The footer of that sheet reads Span-America Medical Systems, Inc., Greenville SC 29606.
Two figures Span America does not publish: the exact attachment geometry of the hooks, and a calibration schedule. If either matters for your lift or your program, ask us before ordering.
Which lifts this fits
Span America's own compatibility statement is one sentence, and this page does not stretch it:
The P11634 is an innovative digital patient lift scale that is compatible with Span-America brand patient floor lifts.
| Lift | Code | Type |
|---|---|---|
| F400 Foldable / Portable | F400 | Full body, 2-point spreader bar |
| F600B Bariatric Full Body | F600B | Full body, bariatric |
| F350CT Car Transfer | F350CT | Car transfer |
| F500S Powered Sit to Stand | F500S | Sit to stand, 4-point boom |
| F450T Standing Transfer Aid | F450T | Standing transfer aid |
Confirm your specific lift before ordering. Span America names the brand rather than a list of models, and the machines above hang a sling in different ways: a 2-point spreader bar on the F400, a 4-point boom on the F500S. A scale sits in that suspension, so the attachment matters. Call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number off your lift, or send a photograph of the product label, and we will confirm the fit with Savaria before anything ships.
If you run a different brand of lift
This is a Span-America scale and it is not a universal one. Beka Carlo Alu floor lifts take a Beka retrofit kit matched to the lift's capacity, and the 185-rated builds take the Beka Carlo Patient Scale Conversion Kit. Handicare and Prism machines have their own. Tell us what you run and we will find the right one rather than sell you this.

The complete machines are on the patient lifts hub, and the rest of our scales, spreader bars, cradles, batteries and chargers are on the lift parts shelf. Slings are quoted separately and sized to the person; if you are buying a scale to weigh regularly, tell us which sling you use so we can talk through taring it consistently.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Small parts ship on our standard service. Westin's own team delivers across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, and you are welcome to visit our Brampton showroom, or Mobility Specialties, our partner store in Etobicoke, if you would rather match the part to your lift in person.
Call (905) 451-7743 with the model and serial number off your lift and we will confirm the fit before the order goes out. Shipping terms are on the shipping policy page, and any charge is confirmed on your order.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the lift needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not an overseas parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department, and our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Span America warranty and inspection
Span-America publishes a limited warranty on all patient lifts, slings and accessories to be free of defects in workmanship and product performance, extending to the original purchaser and non-transferable. Unusually for this catalogue, it prints the terms by component:
| Warranty period | Product or component |
|---|---|
| Three years | Patient lift frame or spreader bar |
| Two years | Actuator, control box, pendant, charger, weigh scale, stand aids, or castors excluding normal tread wear |
| One year | Battery or hydraulic pump |
| Six months | Reusable fabric slings |
Span America names the weigh scale explicitly on the two-year row, which is more than most manufacturers in this catalogue publish for an accessory. All warranty claims go through the authorized dealer who sold the product, with proof of sale and the serial number where applicable, and a return authorization from Span-America is required before anything is sent back. Span-America excludes abuse, misuse, accidental or malicious damage, improper installation, use with parts or accessories whose quality or specifications are incompatible with the product, neglect, failure to maintain and service the product as specified in the owner's manual, a removed or defaced serial number, and normal wear and tear. Ask us for the terms current at the date of your order and we will handle a claim with you.
Span-America asks the operator to inspect the lift before each use, and asks for a thorough monthly inspection by somebody qualified to recognise wear, looseness of bolts and worn parts, with worn parts replaced immediately. It gives the lift an expected lifetime of 10 years or 20,000 cycles and the electrical components an expected lifetime of 3 years. Clean with pH-neutral detergents only, and remove the battery from the controller first. We can quote the annual service with the part.
Frequently asked questions
How much can it weigh?
Up to 660 lb (300 kg), in 0.2 lb (0.1 kg) steps, in pounds or kilograms. The overload warning sounds at full scale plus 2 lb (1 kg), and the body is built to a safety load of 120 per cent of full scale.
Does it raise what my lift can lift?
No. Your lift keeps the safe working load printed on its own product label. The scale reads to 660 lb because load cells are built with headroom. The rating of the whole assembly is always the lowest rating on it, counting the lift, the spreader bar, the scale and the sling.
Will it fit my lift?
Span America states it is compatible with Span-America brand patient floor lifts. Those machines hang a sling in different ways, so call (905) 451-7743 with your model and serial number and we will confirm the attachment with Savaria before anything ships. If you run a Beka, Handicare or Prism lift, this is not your scale and we will point you at the right one.
Will it cost me lifting height?
A little. Span America's own wording is that its compact size will not significantly change the lifting range of the patient lift. It is 5.40 in overall with 2.94 in between the hook centres. If your transfers are already tight at the top or bottom of the lift's travel, measure first and we will measure with you.
How do I get an accurate reading?
Tare with the sling on the hook and nothing else, let the lift settle so the load is not swinging, then use display hold to freeze the number and write it down afterwards. Be consistent about blankets, shoes and pillows if the reading is going into a trend.
What batteries does it take?
Three AA cells, included, with a published battery life of over 150 hours. It has a battery life display and auto power off, so it will not quietly drain them.
Does it come calibrated, and does it need recertifying?
Span America publishes a high accuracy loadcell and a 0.2 lb resolution, but no calibration or recertification schedule for Canada and no statement about a certificate. If the weight is going into a clinical record, ask us at the point of order and we will get both in writing from Savaria.
Can I read it at night?
Yes. The 50 mm x 20 mm LCD is backlit, which is a small detail that matters a lot at three in the morning.
What is the warranty?
Span America's warranty table names the weigh scale on the two-year row, alongside the actuator, control box, pendant, charger, stand aids and castors. Batteries get one year, frame or spreader bar three years. Ask us for the terms current at the date of your order.
Can it be used outdoors or in a cold room?
Span America gives an operational temperature range of 14 to 104 degrees F. That covers any normal indoor use and most sheltered outdoor use in the GTA, but not an unheated garage in January.
