Description

The Medline MedLite MDR107003L is Medline's standard-height full-electric homecare hospital bed. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The hand control moves the head section, the foot section, and the height of the bed.

Medline lists this SKU with a height range of 14.5 inches to 22.5 inches and a 450 lb weight capacity. That capacity is the total for the person, the mattress, and anything else on the bed. This is the regular-height MedLite, not the low sibling that Medline lists as MDR107003LO.

Who this bed is for

This bed is for a person who needs a hospital-style bed at home and wants electric head, foot, and height from one hand control. The 14.5 to 22.5 inch range is a standard homecare height: low enough for many bedroom transfers, high enough that a caregiver is not working at floor level when changing linen.

Families usually call us when someone is coming home from hospital, when a regular bed has become hard to get in and out of, or when a therapist has asked for a full-electric frame. If you need the sleep deck closer to the floor than 14.5 inches, see the Drive Delta 15235 hi-low bed. If you want a Drive full-electric package at a standard height, start with the Drive Delta 1000. If the person is near or over 450 lbs, ask us about the Drive 15300LW 42-inch bariatric bed instead of stretching this frame.

  • Home care, where the bed has to work in a bedroom and move with a hand control
  • Hospital or nursing-home use when a portable full-electric frame is enough
  • Anyone who needs electric head, foot, and height adjustment and does not need a floor-low deck

What you get

The Medline MedLite MDR107003L is a full-electric split-spring bed. Three motors move the head spring, the foot spring, and the overall height. Those motors run on 24 volts DC with an onboard transformer for a 120 volt AC outlet. The full-electric hand pendant is Medline part MDR630154R.

Medline ships the bed in two cartons. The head spring, foot spring, wood-grain headboard and footboard, four casters (two locking, two non-locking), the drive shaft, the hand control, an emergency crank, and the emergency battery box are in those cartons. Nine-volt batteries for the battery box are not included.

  • Hand control for head, foot, and height
  • Split-spring deck with mattress retainers on the head and foot
  • Recessed headspring supports and foot assembly, which Medline lists to reduce pinching
  • An extra steel plate welded to the middle of the frame
  • Plastic wood-grain head and foot panels
  • Four smooth-rolling casters, two of them locking
  • Emergency battery box that can lower the head and foot when two 9-volt alkaline batteries are fitted
  • Emergency crank for manual movement if the power is out
  • Motors, junction box, and pendant rated IP66, so they can be wiped with standard water pressure. Do not pressure-wash or steam the bed

Side rails and a mattress are chosen with the selectors below. They are not a single locked-in Medline kit. Medline's own full rail for this family is a different part than the Drive full rail shown under Choose Bed Rails; the half-rail choice is the Medline half rail for a full-electric bed.

Medline MedLite MDR107003L specifications

These figures are for Westin SKU MDR107003L, the Medline MedLite Homecare Full-Electric Bed. The specification tab holds the stored values. Medline's current catalog for this SKU lists a height range of 14.5 inches to 22.5 inches. Medline's owner manual for the same SKU prints a spring-deck height of 15 inches to 23 inches.

The sleep surface is 36 inches wide by 80 inches long, which is the standard hospital-bed mattress size for this frame. Medline's owner manual prints a spring-deck width of 34.5 inches and an overall bed size of 35.75 inches wide by 89 inches long. Medline's MDR630EXTN kit extends length from 80 inches to 84 inches. That kit is a separate accessory. Ask us if the person needs the extra four inches.

Weight capacity is 450 lbs for the person, the mattress, and anything else on the bed. Shipping weight on Medline's owner manual is 180.7 lbs. Head section travel is approximately 70 degrees. Knee section travel is approximately 35 degrees.

Warranty for the original purchaser is 5 years on mechanics and electronics. Welds and frames are warranted for the life of the bed. Casters are wear items and are not covered.

Choose Bed Rails and Choose Mattress

Use the selectors to set rails and mattress. Rails are chosen with Choose Bed Rails. A mattress is chosen from Choose Mattress.

Choose Bed Rails

Pick one:

  • Medline Half Rails for Full Electric Bed
  • Drive Telescoping Full Length Side Rail 15001ABV

The first option is Medline's half rail for this full-electric frame. The second option is a Drive full-length telescoping rail. Medline's owner manual says to use rails and mattresses that fit this frame, and to keep the mattress centred so the person cannot slip into a gap. If you are not sure which rail style the therapist asked for, call (905) 451-7743 before you order.

Choose Mattress

The sleep surface is 36 inches by 80 inches, so you want a hospital-bed mattress in that size. Choose Mattress lists:

  • Gravity 7 Mattress Long Term Care
  • Gravity 9 Mattress Long Term Care
  • Drive Therapeutic Medical Mattress 15019
  • Gravity 8 Mattress Long Term Care 15870
  • Domus 4 Alternating Pressure Mattress

Drive Therapeutic Medical Mattress 15019 is listed with no extra shown. The Gravity and Domus surfaces are upgrades. If you are not sure which surface you need, call (905) 451-7743. Your therapist can tell us if the person needs a foam surface or an alternating-pressure system.

Funding help for a hospital bed in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover hospital beds. OHIP does not cover them either. Depending on the person, other programs may help, including ODSP, March of Dimes, Veterans Affairs Canada, hardship funding programs, and community support programs.

Westin Healthcare works with these funding programs every week. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the contact page and we will check which programs fit your situation before any paperwork starts. The funding page lists the programs we work with.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this bed across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the hand control before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a bed first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased beds are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

Hospital beds are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the bed is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Can I rent a hospital bed before I buy?

Yes. If you only need the bed for a recovery, or you want to live with a full-electric bed before you buy, rent first. Hospital bed rentals start from $150 a month. See current packages and rates on hospital bed rentals in Brampton.

Rental packages include side rails and a therapeutic medical mattress. For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice. The shortest rental term is one month.

If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.

Service, repairs, and warranty

When something on the bed needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Medline manufacturer warranty

Medline's standard warranty for the original purchaser is 5 years on mechanics and electronics. Welds and frames are warranted for the life of the bed. Casters and other wear parts are not covered. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

Does OHIP cover hospital beds?

No. Hospital beds in Ontario are not covered by OHIP. Depending on the person, March of Dimes, Veterans Affairs Canada, or a community support program may still help. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will check which path fits before anyone starts paperwork.

Does ADP cover hospital beds in Ontario?

No. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program does not cover hospital beds. OHIP does not cover them either. The funding page lists the programs Westin Healthcare works with, including March of Dimes, Veterans Affairs Canada, and community support programs.

What is the difference between a full-electric and a semi-electric hospital bed?

The Medline MedLite MDR107003L is full electric, so the hand control adjusts the head, the foot, and the height of the bed. A semi-electric bed usually moves the head and foot with a motor and leaves height to a crank. Medline's semi-electric MedLite is a different SKU, MDR107002L.

Is the Medline MedLite a low hospital bed?

No. MDR107003L is the standard-height MedLite, and Medline lists its height range as 14.5 inches to 22.5 inches. The low full-electric MedLite is a different SKU (MDR107003LO); if you need a floor-low deck, ask us about the Drive Delta 15235, which lowers to 9.25 inches.

What mattress fits the Medline MedLite?

The sleep surface is 36 inches wide by 80 inches long, so you want a hospital-bed mattress in that size. Choose Mattress lists Gravity 7 Mattress Long Term Care, Gravity 9 Mattress Long Term Care, Drive Therapeutic Medical Mattress 15019, Gravity 8 Mattress Long Term Care 15870, and the Domus 4 Alternating Pressure Mattress. Ask your therapist before you pick an alternating-pressure surface.

Can I rent a hospital bed before buying?

Yes. Westin Healthcare rents full-electric hospital beds with side rails and a therapeutic mattress. See current packages and rates on the hospital bed rentals page. If you later buy, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program so we can apply the program rules to this bed.

How fast can a hospital bed be delivered in the GTA?

Westin's team delivers and sets up purchased beds across Brampton and the GTA on a scheduled date. Call (905) 451-7743 for the next opening. Same-day delivery belongs to the hospital bed rental service, not automatically to a purchased bed.

What is included with this Medline MedLite?

You get the Medline MedLite MDR107003L full-electric bed frame with headboard and footboard, casters, hand control, emergency crank, and the emergency battery box. Choose Bed Rails sets Medline Half Rails for Full Electric Bed or the Drive Telescoping Full Length Side Rail 15001ABV. Choose Mattress sets the surface (Drive Therapeutic Medical Mattress 15019 is listed with no extra shown); an 84 inch extension is a separate Medline kit.

What is the weight capacity of the Medline MedLite?

Medline lists a weight capacity of 450 lbs for SKU MDR107003L. That total includes the person, the mattress, and anything else on the bed. If the person is near that limit, or you need a wider sleep deck, ask us about a bariatric hospital bed instead of stretching this frame.

What happens if the power goes out?

The emergency battery box ships with the bed. Fit two 9-volt alkaline batteries, plug the box into the junction-box port marked battery, and the hand control can lower the head and foot; Medline says not to leave the box connected when you are not using it. An emergency crank is also in the carton if you need to move a function by hand, so keep spare 9-volt batteries in the room.

What is the warranty on the Medline MedLite?

For the original purchaser, Medline covers mechanics and electronics for 5 years and warrants welds and frames for the life of the bed. Casters are wear items and are not covered. Those terms are printed in Medline's owner manual for MDR107003L, and Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work on our service and repairs page.

Can this bed be made longer than 80 inches?

Yes. Medline's MDR630EXTN kit extends the sleep length from 80 inches to 84 inches, keeps the 450 lb capacity, and is a separate accessory. Ask us if the person needs the extra length before we book delivery.
