Description

The Savaria Monarch is a portable lithium-ion ceiling-lift motor. Westin Healthcare sells SKU M929001, the 440 lb (200 kg) model, and delivers and sets it up for homes and care rooms in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Savaria now also calls this motor the M-Series Portable. You carry the 11 lb case to a track or a gantry, hang it on the trolley, and take it down when you are done.

This is the current portable replacement for the discontinued Handicare AP300. If you want a lithium-ion motor that stays in the track, see the Savaria M-Series fixed ceiling lift. If you need a portable rail instead of a ceiling track, see the Handicare FST-300.

Who it is for

This motor is for a person who needs overhead transfers in more than one room, or in a rental or condo where a permanent motor on the ceiling is not the right fit. Families also use it with a freestanding gantry when the ceiling cannot take a track. The 440 lb rating on SKU M929001 is the higher of Savaria's two portable ratings. A 286 lb portable sibling exists; it is a different motor.

  • Homes that want one motor to share across more than one track
  • Condos or rentals where a permanent motor is hard to approve
  • Short-term setups paired with a freestanding gantry

How it lifts

A portable ceiling lift is a motor you carry. You hang it on a trolley, hook loop slings into the SureClip, and use the hand control to raise and lower. Savaria designed SureClip to open outward so a loop that is not fully seated is easier to see. The lithium-ion pack is 25.2 V 2500 mAh. Savaria lists about 80 cycles of 24 inches at 91 kg on a charge, a 2-hour charge from empty, and a daily top-up of 15 to 30 minutes.

Savaria says the portable motor can be paired with a Savaria gantry when a fixed track cannot be installed. The installed safe working load is still the lowest rating among motor, rail, bar, and sling. Westin's own team handles delivery and setup through the delivery section below.

Savaria Monarch specifications

These figures are for Savaria's portable motor, SKU M929001, the 440 lb (200 kg) model. They are not the fixed M-Series figures and they are not the 286 lb portable sibling.

Savaria lists a product weight of 5 kg (11 lb), a safe working load of 200 kg (440 lb) on this model, lifting speeds of 5.5 cm/s at 0 kg, 5 cm/s at 130 kg, and 4.5 cm/s at 200 kg, a maximum noise level of 54 dBA, IP21 on the motor and IP67 on the hand control, a 10-year product life with one battery replacement, ISO 10535:2021, IEC 60601-1, CAN/CSA Z10535.1:15, and a 3-year warranty. Charger input is 100-240 VAC. Charger output is 29.4 VDC, max 1 A.

The 7.5 kg and 8.5 kg weights belong to the fixed M-Series track motors, not this portable case.

Slings and spreader bar

The Monarch uses Savaria's SureClip for loop slings. Savaria describes a clip that opens outward so the loop has to sit inside the latch. Use slings Savaria approves for this clip, and never exceed the 440 lb motor rating or the lower rating of the rail or sling.

Shop Westin's matching sling styles: universal slings, full-body slings, toileting slings, and divided-leg slings. Sit-to-stand slings belong on sit-to-stand floor lifts, not on this portable clip.

Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts or other lifting devices. Funding routes that can help when the eligibility criteria fit: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship funding programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this ceiling lift across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the hand control before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a ceiling lift first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased lifts are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

Ceiling lifts are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the lift is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Can I rent a patient lift before I buy?

Yes. If you only need a lift for a recovery, or you want to live with a ceiling-lift setup before you buy, rent first. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub and the patient lift rentals page. Westin rents electric floor lifts and ceiling lift setups across Brampton and the GTA.

For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice.

If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.

Service, repairs, and warranty

When something on the lift needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Savaria Monarch warranty

Savaria prints a 3-year warranty on the current M-Series Portable card. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

Does funding cover a portable ceiling lift in Ontario?

Funding routes exist for patient lifts in Ontario, and eligibility depends on the person and the assessment. Westin Healthcare works with those programs every week. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before anyone starts paperwork.

What is the safe working load of this Monarch?

Savaria lists 440 lb (200 kg) for SKU M929001. A 286 lb portable sibling exists. This listing is the 440 lb motor. The 600 lb figures on some older tables belong to the fixed M-Series, not this portable case.

How much does the Monarch weigh?

Savaria lists 5 kg (11 lb) for the portable motor. The 7.5 kg and 8.5 kg figures are the fixed M-Series motors that stay in the track.

Is this the replacement for the Handicare AP300?

Yes. Handicare discontinued the AP-Series. Savaria's current portable motor is this Monarch, also called the M-Series Portable.

What slings fit the Monarch?

Loop slings that sit fully inside the SureClip. Use universal, full-body, toileting, or divided-leg slings rated for this clip. Do not put a sit-to-stand sling on this portable motor.

Does the Monarch include a track or gantry?

No. The page price is the motor, hand control, and charger. A ceiling track or a freestanding gantry and slings are quoted with the room.

What happens if the power goes out?

The on/off power switch is also the emergency stop. Keep the battery charged. A 2-hour charge from empty is the published figure. Everyday transfers need a charged pack, not a wall cord.

Can I rent a lift before I buy this motor?

Yes. Westin rents electric floor lifts and ceiling lift setups. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub. If you later buy, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program.

How fast can a purchased Monarch be set up in the GTA?

Westin's team delivers and sets up purchased lifts across Brampton and the GTA on a scheduled date. Call (905) 451-7743 for the next opening. Same-day delivery belongs to the rental service, not automatically to a purchased unit.

What is the warranty on the Monarch?

Savaria prints 3 years on the current portable card. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work. Details are on our service and repairs page.
