Leckey designed MyWay+ around a wraparound harness and a minimal frame so the child's hands stay free. The therapist measures the child, then we quote the frame size, the harness size, and the accessories. We do not size this product from a photo, and we do not give clinical advice. The child's occupational therapist or physiotherapist directs the walking program.

Who this gait trainer is for

This gait trainer is for a child whose therapy team has asked for an upright, supported walking frame rather than a stander or a classroom seat. Families usually call us when a therapist has named MyWay+, or when they need a quote that can travel with an ADP assessment for a pediatric walker or gait trainer.

How MyWay+ walks

The open frame lets the child get close to a table, a sibling, or a playground edge. Each of the three frames ships with indoor/outdoor casters. Those casters brake, lock direction, resist a roll-back, and add variable resistance so the therapist can slow the frame when first steps need that control.

The harness is the support, not a tray or a set of forearm gutters. Leckey prints it as a corset-style wrap that gives deep core support and keeps the child upright. Integral hoisting loops help a tired child in and out. A side-step caster lock holds the wheels sideways so the therapist can work on lateral weight shift while the child stays supported.

Size 2 and Size 3 frames separate and fold for a car. Size 1's frame and upper support stay together. Adult handles, user handles, ankle guides, a standard or narrow saddle, and standard or complex head support are quote accessories, not a single stock kit.

Sizes, harnesses, and growth

Pick the frame from shoulder-to-floor height and inside-leg saddle height. Pick the harness from waist at navel and age band. They are independent quotes.

Harnesses run Size 1 through Size 6, waist 18-35.5 in, colours purple through grey. Harness capacity is 110 lb on sizes 1-3 and 176 lb on sizes 4-6. When the child outgrows a frame or a harness, that piece is requoted. We do not invent a bolt-on growth kit the card does not print.

Frame lengths 33 in, 36.5 in, and 46.5 in. Size 1 weighs 26.5 lb as a combined frame and upper support. Size 2 is 14.5 lb for the frame plus 23 lb for the upper support. Size 3 is 21.0 lb plus 24 lb. Leckey's current manuals print a three year warranty on Leckey-manufactured products and components, and one year on the MyWay harness. Sunrise Canada notes that warranty can vary by province and funding.

Accessories we quote with the frame

MyWay+ is a configured product. The therapist's measurements write the quote. Current CA accessories include six harness sizes, a standard headrest, a complex headrest, hoist straps, adult handles, standard or complex user handles, ankle guides, standard or narrow saddles, saddle drops, and the optional MyWay Pedal. The Pedal is an upright elliptical attachment. Leckey says it also fits original MyWay Size 2 and Size 3. The Leckey Connect app that can log Pedal sessions is Android only and is not required to use the Pedal.

Gait trainer, stander, or seat

Stay with MyWay+ when the need is supported stepping with hands free. Use a stander when the program is standing, not walking. Use a therapy seat when the child needs a classroom or mealtime sitting base.

Funding help for a pediatric gait trainer in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) lists pediatric walkers among its funded mobility aids, and a prescribed gait trainer can qualify through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with the child's therapy team. ADP can fund 75% of the cost, and some income-support programs cover the full client share. Not every product or situation qualifies, so talk to us and the child's therapists before you buy. Can a hoist transfer a child into MyWay+?

The harness has integral hoisting loops. We will confirm the hoist, the sling, and the room layout on the quote. A caregiver still stays with the child in the frame.

How is a gait trainer different from a pediatric stander?

A gait trainer supports stepping. A stander supports a standing position. If the therapy goal is standing time, look at the Leckey standers or the R82 Caribou. If the goal is walking practice, stay with MyWay+.

Does MyWay+ grow with the child?

Each frame and each harness has a printed height or waist band. Tool-free height and prone-angle adjustment sit inside that band. When the child leaves the band, we requote the next size. That is a new frame or harness, not a hidden extension kit.
