Description

The Span America F400 is Span America's foldable electric floor lift. Span-America is a Savaria company. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Savaria prints a 400 lb / 182 kg safe working load on the current product card.

The boom is electric. The lift folds flat or stands folded for a closet or a car trunk. A quick-release battery charges on the lift with the included plug-in charger. An optional charging cradle is a separate accessory. Savaria lists floor extraction, overload protection, manual emergency lowering, and a backlit LCD battery display.

Who it is for

This lift is for a person who needs a full-body transfer inside 400 lb, when a foldable footprint matters. Savaria says the F400 is for people who need the maximum level of assistance, including people who are completely dependent. If you need a lighter foldable lift, see the Hoyer Advance at 341 lb or the Handicare Carina 350 at 350 lb. If you need 500 lb and do not need to fold, see the Drive Levantar.

  • Smaller homes that need a lift that folds
  • People who are fully dependent on a sling for bed, chair, and commode transfers
  • Caregivers who want a removable battery and a floor-pickup range

How it lifts

The F400 is an electric floor lift. The caregiver opens the base, attaches a compatible sling to the spreader bar, and uses the hand control to raise the boom. Span's owner manual describes a six-point spreader bar and clip or loop hook-up. Savaria's current card says two or more caregivers may be required after a full assessment of mobility, weight, size, medical conditions, mental status, and ability to assist. We follow that Savaria note and will not promise a one-person transfer.

Transfers belong on a flat, dry surface. The F400 is not meant for long use in a high-humidity room.

Span America F400 specifications

These figures are for Westin SKU F400. The specification tab holds the stored values. Savaria's current card prints a 400 lb / 182 kg safe working load, a 41.0 inch base length, 27.6 inches closed external width, 32.0 inches opened internal leg width, a 48.3 inch mast, a 4.7 inch base height, a lifting height of 18.5 inches to 67.2 inches with the spreader bar, a 90 lb net weight, and a 104 lb shipping weight. The lift is certified to ISO 10535 and the 60601-1 family, including the Canadian CSA mark Savaria lists.

Warranty in the Span owner manual is 3 years on the frame or spreader bar, 2 years on the actuator, control box, pendant, charger, scale, or casters (excluding tread), and 1 year on the battery pack.

Slings and spreader bar

Span's owner manual prints a six-point spreader bar as standard and shows both a two-point S-bar hook-up pattern and a six-strap sling. Clips go on the hooks. Loops must be pulled to confirm they are seated. The sling is sold separately. Stay inside 400 lb on both the lift and the sling. Start with our full-body slings or universal slings, and we will confirm a sling Span accepts on this bar. We will not name another brand unless Span does.

Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts or other lifting devices. Funding routes that can help when the eligibility criteria fit: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship funding programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this lift across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the hand control before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a lift first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our patient lift rental service; purchased lifts are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

Floor patient lifts are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the lift is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Can I rent a patient lift before I buy?

Yes. If you only need the lift for a recovery, or you want to live with a floor lift before you buy, rent first. See current packages and rates on patient lift rentals in Brampton.

Rental packages include an electric floor lift and a sling. For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice. The shortest rental term on the rentals page is one week.

If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.

Service, repairs, and warranty

When something on the lift needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Span America manufacturer warranty

Span's F400 owner manual covers the original purchaser with 3 years on the frame or spreader bar, 2 years on the actuator, control box, pendant, charger, scale, or casters, and 1 year on the battery pack. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

Does ADP cover patient lifts in Ontario?

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program does not cover patient lifts. Other funding routes may still help, depending on the person and the assessment. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will check which path fits before anyone starts paperwork.

What is the safe working load of the Span F400?

Savaria and Span print 400 lb / 182 kg. Stay inside that number for the person plus anything in the sling.

Does a sling come with the F400?

No. The sling is sold separately. We will match a sling that uses this six-point bar.

Can one caregiver operate the F400?

Savaria's current card says two or more caregivers may be required after a full assessment. We follow that note. We will not promise that one person is enough.

Does the F400 fold small enough for a car?

Savaria and Span both describe a fold for storage and for a vehicle trunk. We will confirm the folded size against your car before you rely on that.

Can I rent a patient lift before buying?

Yes. See current packages and rates on the patient lift rentals page. If you later buy, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program.

How fast can this lift be delivered in the GTA?

Purchased lifts are delivered and set up on a scheduled date. Call (905) 451-7743 for the next opening. Same-day delivery belongs to the rental service.
