Description
The Handicare ReTurn is a manual sit-to-stand and transfer aid. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and shows you how it works in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. This page is the ReTurn family. Choose Model sets ReTurn7400, ReTurn7500i (the listed SKU), or ReTurn7600. The ReTurnBelt is sold separately.
This is not a powered Hoyer and it does not have a spreader bar. Savaria's ReTurn page says that for users who still retain some degree of strength, ReTurn stimulates the natural pattern of movement during sit-to-stand and strengthens muscles and functional ability. If the person cannot take part, look at a powered sit-to-stand such as the Handicare MiniLift, or a full-body floor lift such as the Hoyer Advance Electric.
Who it is for
The ReTurn is for a person who still has some strength and can take an active part in standing. Savaria describes it as a manual assistive device for sit-to-stand and transfers, and also as a rehabilitation device. Direct Healthcare Group describes safe and active sit-to-stand and transfer without any heavy lifting. The manufacturer does not print a grip-strength number. The assessment decides if the person can use the rising ladder.
Savaria names the 7400 for shorter adults and children, the 7500i for most adult users (ladder opening for the ReTurnBelt), and the 7600 for larger and heavier users.
- Home or rehab when the person still retains some degree of strength
- Bed, wheelchair, or toilet transfers, and repositioning farther back in a chair, as Savaria lists those tasks
- Users within 330 lb (150 kg) on the 7400 and 7500i, or 450 lb (205 kg) on the 7600
How it lifts
There is no electric boom. The person steps onto the base plate, holds the rising ladder, and stands while the caregiver applies counterweight as marked on the plate. The ladder leans forward so the person can climb or pull up. Savaria says the design gives the caregiver room to support the user from different directions.
The patented base plate has a low centre of gravity, wheels at all corners, and two large lockable centre wheels. A toilet recess lets the user sit close. Lower-leg supports adjust vertically, laterally, and in angle. The unit disassembles for transport and storage.
Handicare ReTurn specifications
These figures are for Savaria's current ReTurn page and the DHG ReTurn7500i page. The specification tab holds the stored values. Use Choose Model to pick the SWL that matches the person.
- ReTurn7400: SWL 330 lb (150 kg), overall height 39.17 in, base 26.97 x 22.44 in, weight 36.38 lb
- ReTurn7500i: SWL 330 lb (150 kg), overall height 45.28 in, base 26.97 x 22.44 in, weight 36.38 lb, ladder opening for the ReTurnBelt
- ReTurn7600: SWL 450 lb (205 kg), overall height 47.64 in, base 31.30 x 26.46 in, weight 57.32 lb
Centre wheels are 4.92 in on all three. Corner castors are 1.38 in on the 7400 and 7500i, and 2.95 in on the 7600.
Slings and spreader bar
The ReTurn has no spreader bar and does not take a sit-to-stand boom sling. The manufacturer accessory is the ReTurnBelt, which hooks through the opening on the 7500i ladder. Savaria and DHG also list HeelStrap, SupportStrap, leg-support padding, and a ReTurn bag.
If the assessment later needs a powered sit-to-stand sling, see our sit-to-stand slings and a lift such as the MiniLift. For a full-body hoist sling, start at full-body slings.
Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts or other lifting devices. Funding routes that can help when the eligibility criteria fit: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship funding programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.

Can I rent a patient lift before I buy?
Westin Healthcare rents patient lifts. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub. The rental fleet is listed there as an electric patient lift with a sling. Ask us whether a ReTurn or another sit-to-stand aid is available for your dates. If you later decide to buy, ask us about applying rental credit toward a purchase. The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.
Service and warranty
When something on the aid needs work, you call the shop that set it up. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Manufacturer warranty
Direct Healthcare Group and Savaria do not print a year count on the ReTurn product pages we used. Ask us for the current warranty that ships with your model before you buy. We handle the claim with you.
Frequently asked questions
Who does the manufacturer say can use a ReTurn?
Savaria says it is for users who still retain some degree of strength. It stimulates the natural sit-to-stand pattern and can be used as a rehab device. The manufacturer does not print a grip-strength number.
What is the safe working load?
Savaria and DHG list 330 lb (150 kg) on the ReTurn7400 and ReTurn7500i, and 450 lb (205 kg) on the ReTurn7600. Choose Model sets that rating.
Is this a powered lift?
No. The ReTurn is a manual base plate and rising ladder. There is no actuator and no spreader bar.
Do I need a sling?
You do not use a boom sling. The manufacturer accessory is the ReTurnBelt, plus optional HeelStrap and SupportStrap. The 7500i ladder has the opening for the belt.
Which model should I pick?
Savaria names 7400 for shorter adults and children, 7500i for most adults with a ReTurnBelt opening, and 7600 for larger and heavier users. We will match height and the 330 lb or 450 lb rating in the store.
How is this different from the MiniLift?
The MiniLift is a powered sit-to-stand lift used with a ThoraxSling. The ReTurn is a manual standing and turning aid. If the person needs powered rise, see the MiniLift.
Can I rent one first?
Westin Healthcare rents patient lifts. See current packages and rates on the rentals hub. Ask us whether a ReTurn is on the rental fleet for your dates.
Does it work at the toilet?
Savaria describes a recess for the toilet so the user can get close enough to sit well. The base also rolls under a bed, chair, or wheelchair.
How is it delivered?
Westin's team delivers and sets up across Brampton and the GTA on a scheduled date. Call (905) 451-7743. Same-day delivery belongs to the rental service, not automatically to a purchased aid.
