Description
The Handicare Bure Double 2.0 Stand Tall Walker is Handicare's SystemRoMedic electric stand tall walker, base article 56-303, rated 150 kg (330 lb). Westin Healthcare delivers it and sets it up across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Handicare's description is short and it names the two things that matter: the Bure Double 2.0 is equipped with twin electric drives for raising and lowering the walker and for widening the walking frame, and this version has a significantly lower height above the walking frame for better access, along with a higher user weight than the version it replaced.
What the two drives do
Double is the double-drive frame. It is not a size and it is not a rating.
- The lift drive raises and lowers the walker steplessly between 90 cm and 130 cm (35.4 to 51.2 in). That is what sets the armrests to the person, and it is what makes the walker an assist rather than a frame: the strain of helping somebody stand comes off the caregiver and onto the machine. Handicare notes that some users can get up on their own with the assistance of the walker.
- The widening drive opens and closes the frame between 64 cm and 95 cm (25.2 to 37.4 in). Handicare's reason for motorising it is practical: the caregiver can bring the walker right up to a user without worrying about wheelchair width, chair width or bed design, and then close it again to get back through a door.
With the frame in its outer position the walker is more stable and gives a user who needs extra walking space room to take it. With the frame in, Handicare describes it as narrow, easy to manoeuvre and able to negotiate most doorways, which is why the Double is the Bure that suits a home rather than only a ward.
Bure Double 2.0 or Bure Rise & Go DB?
This is the real decision, and the two machines are close enough that it is worth ten seconds of thought rather than a guess.
| Bure Double 2.0, this listing | Bure Rise & Go DB | |
|---|---|---|
| Powered height | Yes, 90-130 cm | Yes, 95-135 cm |
| Powered frame widening | Yes, 64-95 cm | Yes, 66-106 cm |
| Power rise function | No | Yes |
| Harness needed | No | Yes, sold separately in S, M, L, XL |
| Max user weight | 150 kg (330 lb) | 150 kg (330 lb) |
| Length | 87 cm (34.3 in) | 101 cm (39.8 in) |
| Armrest, internal | 25-50 cm (9.8-19.7 in) | 36-65 cm (14.2-25.6 in) |
Choose the Rise & Go if getting up is the hard part. Its power rise pulls the user to standing on a harness worn low across the hips, and the harness is a separate purchase that has to be sized, fitted and inspected before every use.
Choose the Bure Double 2.0 if getting up is manageable and staying up is the point. There is no harness, nothing to size and nothing extra to check. It is also 14 cm shorter, and its armrests close to 25 cm rather than 36 cm, which suits a narrower user better.
Who this walker is for
Handicare's intended-use statement covers the Bure range and it is the condition that decides whether the machine suits a person:
Walkers are to be used by persons with reduced muscular strength, who shall be able to stand and perform simple leg movements. Walkers are to be used for leaning on when walking and standing during early mobilisation training.
The drives set the machine to the person and take the strain out of the stand. They do not take steps. Somebody who cannot walk once they are upright needs a different machine, and our staff will work through that with you.
Bure walkers are for indoor use only, in home healthcare and professional healthcare environments.

Handicare publishes the rest in the instructions for use. Both actuators are TiMOTION: the lift actuator pushes and pulls at 2000 N with a 400 mm stroke and is rated IP66, and the widening actuator pushes and pulls at 1000 N with a 55 mm stroke. The control box and battery are TiMOTION, 24 V, 2.0 Ah, IP66, electrical safety Class II, to IEC 60601-1 third revision. Handicare gives the product a life expectancy of 8 years.
Those dimensions are for the 125 mm castor build, which is what our code specifies. Handicare also builds this walker on 100 mm and 75 mm castors, and the 75 mm build's height range drops to 85-125 cm.
Where it can and cannot go
Handicare's limits are firm and several of them are electrical. They are worth reading before anyone installs one in a bathroom:
- Indoor use only. Not outdoors.
- Must not be lowered into water.
- Must not be left or stored in a damp or humid environment.
- Must not be cleaned using steam.
- Must not be charged in a wet room.
- Must only be connected to a supply with protective earth, to avoid the risk of electric shock.
- No modification is allowed without the manufacturer's authorisation.
You may see a manufacturer catalogue line saying the electrical components are rated to allow use in wet spaces. The instructions for use are the document that governs, and they prohibit charging in a wet room and storage anywhere damp. If your plan involves a wet room, call us before you order and we will get a written answer from Savaria rather than have you rely on a catalogue caption.
Accessories that fit this walker
- The Bure Transfer Plate, Long (56-383-DB), a platform the user's feet rest on so the walker carries them instead of them walking. There is a short version too, 56-333-DB.
- The 75 mm castor (57-051), which is item 19 in this walker's own parts list, alongside the 100 mm (57-319) and 125 mm (57-049) wheels. Braked versions are 56-387, 56-358 and 56-361.
- Manual brakes, one-handle or two-handle, 56-339-2-1 and 56-339-2-0.
- Hand Control PLUS (56-062), which adds a service indicator that flashes red after 11 months of operation and goes to constant red after 12, as a reminder that the annual maintenance is due.
- Side support 56-337, dripstand holder 56-338, oxygen tube holder 56-336, soft basket 56-389.
- A gait training kit, 56-388, and a version for the Belt Multi, 56-388-KIT.
Funding help for a walker or rollator in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the ADP-approved price of a walker or rollator when the need is long-term and the aid is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every model qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this walker across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, charge it, set the armrest height and width to the person, and show the caregiver the hand control and the castor locks before we leave. This is not a machine to unbox alone: Handicare requires at least two people to lift it, using only the marked handholds.
You are welcome to visit our Brampton showroom, or Mobility Specialties, our partner store in Etobicoke, if you would rather see a stand tall walker first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works.
Electric walkers are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the walker is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the walker needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not an overseas parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department, and our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Handicare warranty and inspection
Handicare's instructions for use state that maintenance and service of the device must be performed according to the manual at least once every 12 months, that repairs and maintenance may only be done by authorised personnel using original spare parts, and that the life expectancy of the product is 8 years. No warranty year count is printed, so ask us for the current terms that ship with your serial number and we will handle a claim with you.
Between services, the checks that matter are the daily ones: brakes working, castors turning freely and securely fixed, hand control undamaged and its markings matching the functions, and the battery charged. If your machine has the Hand Control PLUS, its service indicator will tell you when the year is up. We can quote the annual inspection with the walker.

Frequently asked questions
What does Double mean?
Two electric drives. One raises and lowers the walker, the other widens and narrows the frame. It is not a size and it is not a two-person rating.
Does it lift the user up?
Not with a harness, no. The lift drive sets the walker to the right height and takes most of the strain out of the stand, and Handicare notes some users can get up on their own with the assistance of the walker. If you need the machine to pull somebody upright, that is the Bure Rise & Go DB, and it needs a harness.
What weight does it take?
150 kg (330 lb), printed on the cover of Handicare's instructions for use and confirmed in the GATE product catalogue. If the user is above that, the Bure XL is rated 240 kg (529 lb).
Will it fit through my doorway?
With the frame closed it is 64 cm (25.2 in) wide, and the walker is 87 cm (34.3 in) long. Handicare describes it as able to negotiate most doorways with the frame arms in. Measure the narrowest door on the route.
How narrow do the armrests go?
25 cm (9.8 in) internally, out to 50 cm (19.7 in). That is a wider adjustment range at the narrow end than the Rise & Go offers, which matters for a smaller user.
Can it be used in a bathroom or a wet room?
Not as a charging or storage location, and not in a shower. Handicare's instructions prohibit charging in a wet room, storage in a damp or humid environment, steam cleaning and immersion. If a wet room is part of your plan, call (905) 451-7743 before ordering and we will get a written answer from Savaria.
Do the castors lock?
All four, individually, as standard. Braked castors are also available as accessories in 75, 100 and 125 mm.
Is "Standard" a model?
No. Our pricelist description says "Standard", which distinguishes this build from the PLUS builds that ship with the Hand Control PLUS and its 12-month service indicator. It is not the Bure Standard, which is a different walker with a single drive, sold on our site as the Bure Walking Table.
Does ADP fund a walker in Ontario?
ADP can fund 75% of the approved price of a walker or rollator when the need is long-term and the aid is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist. Not every model qualifies, so call (905) 451-7743 before you buy and we will check where this one stands.
How often does it need servicing?
Handicare requires maintenance and service according to the manual at least once every 12 months, by authorised personnel using original spare parts. The published life expectancy of the product is 8 years. We can quote the annual inspection with the walker.
Can one person move it?
Not to lift it. Handicare requires at least two people to lift the device, using only the marked handholds. Once it is on its castors, one caregiver steers it.
