Description
The Drive 13240 is Drive Medical's battery-powered floor patient lift. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. A Linak motor raises and lowers the boom from the hand control. Drive's current sheet prints a 450 lb weight capacity.
This is a home-care electric lift. The battery charges on the lift from a wall outlet, and the lift will not run while it is plugged in. If the actuator needs a backup, Drive's jumbo pump has an emergency button that switches to manual mode so the person can be lowered. An audible warning sounds when the battery falls below 50 percent.
Who it is for
This lift is for a person who needs a full-body transfer between a bed, a wheelchair, or a commode, and whose weight is inside Drive's 450 lb capacity. Families usually call us when someone is coming home from hospital, or when a caregiver can no longer lift safely by hand. If you need a 500 lb premium lift with a six-point spring-clip cradle, see the Drive Levantar with manual base. If the person is near or over 450 lbs, ask about the Drive 13244 600 lb lift instead of stretching this frame. If the person can bear some weight, a sit-to-stand lift such as the Drive sit-to-stand lift may fit better than a floor lift.
- Home care, where a battery lift has to charge from a regular outlet
- Transfers from bed to wheelchair or commode inside Drive's 450 lb capacity
- Caregivers who want electric lifting plus Drive's manual emergency lower
How it lifts
The 13240 is an electric floor lift. The caregiver rolls the base around the chair or under the bed, attaches an approved sling to the cradle, and uses the hand control to raise the boom. Drive prints that the lift is for home-care use, that it will not operate while it is charging, and that the jumbo actuator can be switched to manual mode to lower the person. It is a transfer device, not a way to move someone down a hallway.
A sling is not in the carton. Ask us for a Drive sling that fits this cradle, or browse our full-body slings and universal slings before you order.
Drive 13240 specifications
These figures are for Westin SKU 13240. The specification tab holds the stored values. Drive's current sheet prints a 450 lb weight capacity, a boom height of 27.5 inches to 76 inches, a 2 inch base clearance, a 108 lb lift, a 122 lb carton, 5 inch rear casters, and a Linak motor.
Warranty for the original purchaser is a limited lifetime on the frame and 1 year on components and electrical parts (battery, hand control, and actuator).
Slings and spreader bar
Drive's 13240 sheet does not print a 2-point or 4-point claim. The sling is sold separately. Use a Drive sling that matches this cradle and stays inside the 450 lb capacity of both the lift and the sling. If you need a commode opening, start with our toileting slings. We will not claim a sling from another brand unless Drive names it.
Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover patient lifts or other lifting devices. Funding routes that can help when the eligibility criteria fit: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, and hardship funding programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this lift across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the hand control before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a lift first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our patient lift rental service; purchased lifts are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
Floor patient lifts are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the lift is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Can I rent a patient lift before I buy?
Yes. If you only need the lift for a recovery, or you want to live with a floor lift before you buy, rent first. See current packages and rates on patient lift rentals in Brampton.
Rental packages include an electric floor lift and a sling. For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice. The shortest rental term on the rentals page is one week.
If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the lift needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Drive manufacturer warranty
Drive's warranty for the original purchaser of the 13240 is a limited lifetime on the frame and 1 year on components and electrical parts, including the battery, hand control, and actuator. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
Does ADP cover patient lifts in Ontario?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program does not cover patient lifts. Other funding routes may still help, depending on the person and the assessment. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will check which path fits before anyone starts paperwork.
What is the safe working load of the Drive 13240?
Drive prints a 450 lb weight capacity on the current 13240 sheet. Stay inside that number for the person plus anything in the sling. If you are near the limit, ask about a 600 lb lift instead of stretching this one.
Does a sling come with the 13240?
No. Drive ships the lift, battery, and hand control. The sling is sold separately. We will match a Drive sling to this cradle when we book the setup.
Can I rent a patient lift before buying?
Yes. Westin Healthcare rents electric floor lifts with a sling. See current packages and rates on the patient lift rentals page. If you later buy, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program.
How fast can this lift be delivered in the GTA?
Westin's team delivers and sets up purchased lifts across Brampton and the GTA on a scheduled date. Call (905) 451-7743 for the next opening. Same-day delivery belongs to the rental service, not automatically to a purchased lift.
What happens if the battery runs low?
Drive sounds an audible warning below 50 percent. Plug the lift into a wall outlet to charge. It will not run while it is charging. If you need to lower someone during a fault, Drive's jumbo actuator has an emergency button that switches to manual mode.
Is the Drive 13240 foldable?
Drive's current sheet does not describe a foldable mast. Our specification tab lists this model as not foldable. If you need a lift that folds for a car or a closet, look at the Hoyer Advance or the Handicare Carina 350.
What is included with the Drive 13240?
You get the Drive 13240 battery-powered floor lift with the Linak actuator, battery, and hand control. A sling is not included. Westin Healthcare delivers and sets up across Brampton and the GTA.
What is the warranty on the Drive 13240?
Drive covers the frame for a limited lifetime and the battery, hand control, actuator, and other components for 1 year. Those terms are printed on Drive's 13240 sheet. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work on our service and repairs page.
Is this a Hoyer lift?
No. Hoyer is a Joerns brand. This SKU is Drive 13240. If you were quoted a Hoyer Advance, that is a different, foldable lift with a 341 lb safe working load.
