Description

The Little Wave Flip is Ki Mobility's pediatric tilt in space wheelchair. Westin Healthcare configures it to prescription for families in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. This is not an off-the-shelf cart chair. The child's ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist assesses first. Then Westin builds the tilt, the base, and the seating on Ki's Flip order form.

Ki lists 0 to 45 degrees of posterior dynamic tilt, a 165 lb (74.8 kg) rating on the standard Flip, and a 21 lb (9.5 kg) transport weight on a 14 by 14 inch frame with attendant wheel locks (armrests, rear wheels, and footrests off). Seat width is 10 to 18 inches (25.4 to 45.7 cm). Seat depth is 12 to 20 inches (30.5 to 50.8 cm). The chair is sold as a folding base or a rigid base. Occupied transit is listed as yes when the transit kit is on the order.

Who this chair is for

This chair is for a child who needs a pediatric tilt in space wheelchair because they cannot shift their own weight, and whose family is moving on from an adaptive stroller. Caregivers tilt from the handles or a foot pedal. Ki designed the Flip to look and fold like a stroller while using wheelchair hardware, including TAPER LOK on the fold.

If the child still fits an early intervention base for R82 x:panda seating, start with the Ki Mobility Tyke. If the therapist wants the lightest folding pediatric tilt and a folding-recline back, see the Little Wave Arc. Daily folding without tilt is the live Ki Mobility Spark.

  • Pediatric 0 to 45 degree tilt after the child's OT or PT assessment
  • Folding or rigid Flip base, 10 to 18 inch seat, 165 lb rating
  • Transit option as Ki states it, growth of at least 2 inches of width and 3 inches of depth

Tilt, fold, and growth

Tilt on the Flip is 0 to 45 degrees. Ki's Flip form offers a hand tilt or a foot tilt. The self-propel axle plate can limit the tilt range, so the therapist picks wheel size and tilt together. Optional tilt stops set how far the seat can travel. A high-pivot folding back lets more of the seating stay on the chair when the back folds.

The flat fold is the reason families pick this base when a stroller look still matters. Ki's owner's manual prints a folded package of 28.9 by 24.0 by 27.6 inches on the ISO sheet. Push-to-lock wheel locks need the rear wheels off before the chair folds. An attendant foot lock is the stroller-style lock. Unfolding and the TAPER LOK hardware are shown on Ki's Flip page; we set that hardware on the order rather than inventing a storefront control.

Growth is built into the frame. Ki prints a minimum of 2 inches of seat width and 3 inches of seat depth. Seat height, seat depth, and seat width change with fewer extra parts than a full frame swap. That growth is not a second chair and it is not an ADP promise on its own.

Little Wave Flip variants

Ki publishes four Flip order forms. They are the same 0 to 45 degree Flip family, not four storefront models. Westin writes the form the therapist chooses. There is no picker on this page.

  • Little Wave Flip (Ki's Flip XP form): the standard Flip. Rigid or folding. Transit included or omitted as a base package. 165 lb rating. Frame width 10 to 18 inches. Depth ranges short 12 to 16, medium 14 to 18, long 16 to 20 inches.
  • Flip XPe: the essential Flip form. Same tilt, same widths, same growth capability. Used when the therapist wants the Flip geometry without the full Flip XP base package.
  • Flip TTL: Ki's TTL Flip form. Same 0 to 45 tilt, 165 lb rating, and 18 inch maximum frame. Transit is listed as include or omit at no added line on that form.
  • Flip for x:panda: a folding Flip base with the adaptor plate for R82 x:panda shape seating. Hand tilt only. 16 inch frame. Seat width 16 inches. Seat depth 4 to 14 inches. Transport weight 32 lbs (14.5 kg). Capacity 129 lbs (58.5 kg). The base does not include the x:panda seat, armrests, or footrests. Ki says it accepts x:panda sizes 1, 2, and 3. x:panda seating sits about 3.5 inches above the frame height.

Colour, canopy, contracture footrest, Peds Pro ELR, multi-angle footrest, dynamic back, and Axiom for Kids seating are written on the same order when the therapist needs them. Flip colour chips on Ki's current page include gloss and matte frame and accent colours. We do not invent a colour picker here.

Little Wave Flip specifications

These figures are for the Little Wave Flip Westin configures from Ki Mobility's current product page, the Flip brochure, and the current Flip order forms. The specification tab holds the stored values.

Standard Flip: transport weight 21 lbs (9.5 kg) on a 14 by 14 inch frame with attendant wheel locks, armrests, rear wheels, and footrests off. Seat width 10 to 18 inches (25.4 to 45.7 cm). Seat depth 12 to 20 inches (30.5 to 50.8 cm). Seat height 13.5 to 20 inches (34 to 51 cm) on Ki's Flip brochure. Tubing 1 inch (2.54 cm). Tilt 0 to 45 degrees. Capacity 165 lbs (74.8 kg). Transit yes with the Ki transit kit. Growth at least 2 inches of width and 3 inches of depth. Folding or rigid base.

Flip for x:panda: transport weight 32 lbs (14.5 kg) on a 16 inch frame with attendant foot lock, rear wheels off, no seating. Frame width 18 inches (45.7 cm). Frame height 18 inches (45.7 cm). Seat width 16 inches (40.6 cm). Seat depth 4 to 14 inches (11 to 36.3 cm). Tilt 0 to 45 degrees, hand tilt only. Capacity 129 lbs (58.5 kg). Transit yes. x:panda seating adds about 3.5 inches of seat height.

Ki's Flip owner's manual warrants the frame and quick-release axles for the life of the original purchaser, and other Ki-made parts for one year from first consumer purchase. The expected life of the frame is five years. Wear items sit outside that term. The printed warranty applies in North America.

How this chair is configured

Base (Flip, Flip XPe, Flip TTL, or Flip for x:panda), folding or rigid, tilt control, seat size, back type, seating, transit, and colour are set on Ki's order form with the child's therapist. There is no single in-stock size. Westin submits the form after the assessment.

Little Wave Flip, Arc, Spark, or Zippie tilt

The Little Wave Flip is the stroller-styled 0 to 45 degree pediatric tilt. The Little Wave Arc is Ki's lightest folding pediatric tilt (20.5 lb transport, folding-recline back, same 0 to 45 degrees and 165 lb rating). The Little Wave Clik is the folding growth chair without tilt. The Little Wave XP is the rigid growth chair. The Tyke is the early intervention 35 degree base for x:panda seating at a 74 lb rating.

The live Ki Mobility Spark is the Category 3 folding pediatric chair that accepts a prescribed seating system. It has 32 degrees of back-angle change and no tilt-in-space. The live Ki Mobility Rogue XP is the active pediatric rigid.

Zippie pediatric tilt pages already live on this site are the Zippie IRIS (40 or 55 degree rotation), the Zippie TS (45 degree fixed-pivot tilt), and the Zippie Sphynx (static 10, 20, or 30 degree tilt that folds small). The therapist picks the tilt type. Do not order a Zippie page when the prescription is a Little Wave Flip, and do not order a Flip when the prescription is a Zippie IRIS.

Funding help for a wheelchair in Ontario

This chair is an ADP-eligible category device. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) pays 75% of the approved price for eligible clients, and clients receiving Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD support can be covered for the full cost. The route starts with an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, who confirms the need and the right category before anything is ordered: a chair bought before approval is not reimbursed. Westin Healthcare works with ADP authorizers and submissions every week, configures the chair to the prescription, and walks you through the paperwork. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to start the conversation.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this chair across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area after the assessment, the configuration, and the ADP submission are in place. We bring it in, check the tilt and the fold, and show you the wheel locks, the hangers, and the tilt release before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty

When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or school.

Ki Mobility manufacturer warranty

Ki's Flip owner's manual warrants the frame and quick-release axles for the life of the original purchaser, and other Ki-made parts for one year from first consumer purchase. The expected life of the frame is five years. Wear items (upholstery, tires, armrest pads, tubes, armrests, and push-handle grips) sit outside that term. The term does not transfer if the chair is modified in a way that causes a failure, or if the serial tag is removed. The printed warranty applies in North America. We handle the claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

What Is A Tilt In Space Pediatric Wheelchair?

A tilt in space pediatric wheelchair tips the whole seat without changing the child's hip and knee angles. The Little Wave Flip does that with 0 to 45 degrees of posterior dynamic tilt on a folding or rigid pediatric frame.

Does ADP Cover Pediatric Wheelchairs In Ontario?

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program covers pediatric wheelchairs for eligible clients. ADP can fund 75 percent of the approved price. The child's ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist has to assess first. We cannot promise that a given child will be approved.

Does The Little Wave Flip Fold Like A Stroller?

The Little Wave Flip uses a flat fold Ki compares to a stroller fold, with TAPER LOK hardware on the current Flip page. Ki's owner's manual prints a folded package of 28.9 by 24.0 by 27.6 inches. The Flip is also sold as a rigid base on the Flip, Flip XPe, and Flip TTL forms when the therapist does not want a folder.

How Does The Little Wave Flip Grow?

The Little Wave Flip grows at least 2 inches in seat width and 3 inches in seat depth on Ki's current Flip forms. Seat height, depth, and width change on the same frame. That growth is the parts and the built-in range. It is not a second chair.

What Is Flip For X:panda?

Flip for x:panda is Ki's folding Flip base with an adaptor plate for the R82 x:panda shape seat. Ki lists a 16 inch frame, 4 to 14 inch seat depth, 0 to 45 degree hand tilt, a 32 lb transport weight, and a 129 lb rating. The x:panda seat is ordered separately. The standard Flip is the 10 to 18 inch, 165 lb chair when the therapist is not writing x:panda.

Is The Little Wave Flip Transit Approved?

Ki lists the Little Wave Flip as transit approved. The Flip owner's manual states the chair with the transit option has been tested to RESNA WC-4 Section 19 and ISO 7176-19. Occupied transit needs the Ki transit kit. Follow the vehicle and kit instructions. Flip for x:panda can omit transit. Reverse-facing Tyke seating is a different base.

What Seat Width Do I Need?

The standard Little Wave Flip seat is 10 to 18 inches. Flip for x:panda is a 16 inch frame for the x:panda seat. The child's therapist measures seated hip width. We will not guess a width from a photo.

Who Pushes This Chair?

A caregiver usually pushes and works the tilt on the Little Wave Flip. Ki offers a self-propel axle with 20, 22, or 24 inch wheels when the child still self-propels. That axle can limit tilt range. The stroller handle or adjustable handle is written on the order so a taller or shorter caregiver can push from a tilted position.

Flip Or Little Wave Arc?

The Little Wave Flip is the stroller-styled 0 to 45 degree tilt with a flat fold and TAPER LOK. The Little Wave Arc is Ki's lightest folding pediatric tilt at 20.5 lbs transport, with an arc roller-guide tilt and a folding-recline back. Both are 165 lb, 10 to 18 inch chairs. The therapist picks the fold and the tilt hardware.

What Is The Warranty?

Ki's Flip owner's manual warrants the frame and quick-release axles for the life of the original purchaser, and other Ki-made parts for one year. Wear items are outside that term. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.

What Happens If ADP Declines?

Ontario sends a letter with the reason and the appeal route. Do not take delivery of a custom chair on the assumption that a decline will reverse. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will walk through the letter with you and the child's therapist.
