Description
The Sunrise Medical Quickie Xenon 2 is a Category 3 folding ultralight wheelchair in 7000-series aerospace aluminum. Westin Healthcare has configured this chair for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It is an ADP-eligible Category 3 type of device when the matching Ontario device code is written on the application. An assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist comes first. ADP can fund 75% of the approved price for eligible clients. Ontario Works, ODSP, and ACSD clients may be funded at 100% of that approved price.
Sunrise Medical's Canada and US product pages, fetched 2026-08-14, state that the Xenon 2 is no longer available to order. Support pages, the owner's manual, and the parts book remain posted. Talk to Westin before an ADP application if the authorizer still has a Xenon 2 on the worksheet. A current Sunrise folding chair such as the Quickie 2 or the Quickie QXi may be the chair that can still be built.
Who this chair is for
The Xenon 2 is for a person who was assessed on this model, who already uses one, or whose authorizer is comparing the three Xenon 2 frames (fixed front, hybrid, swing-away) with a current folding ultralight. It is a self-propel folding chair, not a transport chair and not a rigid Category 4.
If you need a Sunrise folding chair that is still in production, start with the Quickie 2. If you want a Motion Composites folding Category 3 instead, see the Helio A7.
- Category 3 folding ultralight, 7000-series aluminum
- Three historic frames: fixed front, hybrid, swing-away
- Sunrise has withdrawn new orders. Confirm availability before ADP paperwork
Design and build
Sunrise built the Xenon 2 from 7000-series aerospace aluminum with ShapeLoc tube forming. A low-profile cross-brace sits under the seat so the open frame feels closer to a rigid chair while still folding. A redesigned axle stem holds the rear wheels. The series shipped as three frames:
- Xenon 2 FF (fixed front): Sunrise lists from 19.4 lb
- Xenon 2 Hybrid: Sunrise lists from just under 20.9 lb
- Xenon 2 SA (swing-away hangers): Sunrise lists 22.7 lb
Historic Ontario device codes for those three frames are WM0001595 (fixed front), WM0001594 (hybrid), and WM0001592 (swing-away). Westin currently files this chair as SKU XENON2, without a WM code. The authorizer and Westin have to name the frame before any application is honest.
Quickie Xenon 2 specifications
These figures are the ones Sunrise still prints on the Canada features page. The specification tab on this product is generic ("varies") and should not be trusted for a new quote. Seat width, seat depth, back height, and user weight change with the frame and the old order form. We do not print a capacity here because Sunrise's current card no longer lists one, and dealer sheets disagree (220 lb, 265 lb, or 300 lb on the hybrid in a 2018 press note).
Frame: folding, 7000-series aerospace aluminum, ShapeLoc. Three versions as above. Rear wheels and tyres, armrests, and hangers were order-form choices. Warranty on this withdrawn model "may vary from one province to another depending on funding requirements," in Sunrise Canada's own words. Ask us for the term that applied to the serial you already have, or for the current Sunrise folding chair that would replace a new request.
Frame and fit
A Xenon 2 was only ever built from the Sunrise order form: frame family first, then seat width, seat depth, back, wheels, and colour. If you already have a Xenon 2, bring the serial and the original order. If you do not, ask the authorizer whether a current Quickie folding chair is the right Category 3 device.
Do not buy any custom wheelchair before ADP approval if you need the program to pay its share.
ADP funding for a Category 3 wheelchair in Ontario
This chair is an ADP-eligible category device. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) pays 75% of the approved price for eligible clients, and clients receiving Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD support can be covered for the full cost. The route starts with an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, who confirms the need and the right category before anything is ordered: a chair bought before approval is not reimbursed. Westin Healthcare works with ADP authorizers and submissions every week, configures the chair to the prescription, and walks you through the paperwork. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to start the conversation.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
When a Xenon 2 can still be supplied, or when we deliver a current Sunrise folding substitute, Westin's own team brings the chair across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We check the fold and the wheel locks and show you the setup the therapist specified.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area. For a scheduled delivery, call (905) 451-7743. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; a purchased custom wheelchair is delivered on a scheduled date.
If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a shipping quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on an existing Xenon 2 needs work, you call the shop that set it up. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace. ADP does not pay for repairs. Sunrise still posts the Xenon 2 owner's manual and a parts book.
Sunrise manufacturer warranty
Sunrise Canada states that warranty coverage for this product may vary from one province to another depending on funding requirements. We will read the serial and the original paperwork with you rather than invent a year count. Ask us if an extended term was sold with that chair.
Frequently asked questions
What does Category 3 mean on this chair?
Ontario dealers and authorizers treat Category 3 as a lightweight, centre-of-gravity-adjustable wheelchair with quick-release axles, anti-tippers, removable armrests, and specified footrests. The Xenon 2 is a folding ultralight in that class, not a rigid Category 4.
Can I still order a new Xenon 2?
Sunrise Medical's Canada and US pages say the product is no longer available to order. Call (905) 451-7743 before anyone writes a Xenon 2 on an ADP form. We will tell you whether a last-time unit exists or whether a current Quickie folding chair is the honest device.
Who may qualify for ADP funding?
Ontario residents with a valid health card whose disability needs a mobility device for 6 months or longer, after an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist. We cannot promise that a specific person will be approved, and we cannot promise ADP will still accept a withdrawn model. Use the funding page before any order is placed.
How does the 75 / 25 split work?
For an eligible client, the ADP-registered vendor bills ADP 75% of the approved price for the device. The client pays the remaining 25%, plus extras ADP does not cover. People on Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD can be covered at 100% of that approved price.
What is the assessment process?
An ADP-registered OT or PT examines the person and helps complete the mobility-devices application. Westin finishes the manufacturer order with that authorizer. A chair bought before approval is not reimbursed.
How long does ADP take?
Ontario publishes a target of reviewing the application within 8 weeks of receiving it. A withdrawn model can add delay if the device code is no longer accepted. Ask us before the form is submitted.
Can I try this chair?
Ask us what is on the Brampton or Toronto floor this week. A Xenon 2 demo is not guaranteed now that Sunrise has withdrawn the line. A current Quickie folding chair may be the chair you actually sit in.
How should the seat width be chosen?
The authorizer measures seated hip width on the order form for the frame that can still be built. Do not treat leftover 14 to 19 inch notes as if they were a current Sunrise spec table.
Who pushes the Xenon 2?
The person in the chair, using the handrims on the large rear wheels. A companion can also push from the back. Engage both wheel locks before sitting or standing.
Will it fold into a car?
Yes. The Xenon 2 is a folding frame. Sunrise marketed compact folded dimensions as a reason to pick it. It is a wheelchair, not a car seat, unless the original order included transit hardware and the vehicle is set up for it.
What is the warranty?
Sunrise says the term can vary by province and funding rules. Bring the serial. Westin processes claims on chairs we sold and can still source Xenon 2 parts from the posted parts book.
What happens if ADP declines the application?
Ontario sends a letter with the reason and how to follow up, including an appeal. If the decline is because the model is withdrawn, we can look at a current Category 3 folding chair with you. Other routes sit on the funding page.
