Description
The Sunrise Breezy 600 is a Category 2 folding aluminum wheelchair. Westin Healthcare configures it in Brampton for homes across the Greater Toronto Area after an ADP-registered therapist assessment. Sunrise Medical no longer takes new factory orders for this model and names the Quickie QX as the replacement. If a leftover 600 can still be sourced, we set it to the assessment. If it cannot, we move you to a current Category 2 chair.
When the chair was current, Sunrise listed a 250 lb rating and a 28 lb basic weight. Seat widths on the owner's manual are 14, 16, 18, and 20 inches. Seat heights on Sunrise's own page ran from 13 to 20.5 inches. This is a self-propel chair with large rear wheels and pushrims. A companion can also push from the handles.
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who needs a long-term lightweight folding manual wheelchair in the ADP Category 2 band, and whose therapist names the Breezy 600 (or the Quickie QX that replaced it) after an assessment. Families usually call us when they need a folding aluminum frame, a seat in the 14 to 20 inch range, and a 250 lb rating.
If you need the current Sunrise Category 2 chair, start with the Quickie QX. If you want another current Category 2 folder, see the Stellato II. A transport chair with small rear wheels is a different product and is not this Breezy 600.
- A Category 2 folding manual after an ADP assessment
- Self-propel use, or companion push
- A 250 lb Sunrise rating on a 28 lb basic frame
Design and build
The frame and cross-brace are aluminum and fold for a car or a closet. Seat height was the 600's main setup range: 13 to 20.5 inches, so the same frame could be set for foot propulsion or for a higher transfer. Back canes telescope for height. Threaded or quick-release rear axles were offered, along with a one-arm-drive option on the old order form.
Arms were fixed or flip-back, desk or full. Hangers were 60 or 70 degree swing-away, with elevating or articulating options. Rear wheels were 20, 22, or 24 inches. Casters were 5, 6, or 8 inches. Frame colours on the Westin setup are Forest Green, Silver Texture, Blue, and Black.

Breezy 600 specifications
These figures are from the Breezy 600 owner's manual (930300 Rev. F) and Sunrise's archived product page. The specification tab holds the stored values.
Seat width 14, 16, 18, or 20 inches. Seat depth on the Westin setup is 16 or 18 inches. Seat height 13 to 20.5 inches. Chair weight 28 lb in the basic configuration. Capacity 250 lb. Rear wheels 20, 22, or 24 inches. Casters 5, 6, or 8 inches.
Warranty for the original purchaser is lifetime on the frame and cross-brace, and one year on Sunrise-made parts. Tires, tubes, upholstery, pads, and grips are outside that term. Sunrise notes that coverage can vary by province.
Size and configuration
The Breezy 600 is built to the assessment, not pulled off a shelf as a finished everyday cart item. Westin records Frame Color, Seat Width, Seat Height, Seat Depth, Backrest, Armrests, and Footrests from the therapist's measurements and the old Sunrise form. Rear Wheel Size, Casters, Axles, and Wheel Locks are part of that same setup, not a next-day cart choice.
Sunrise's owner's manual prints 14, 16, 18, and 20 inch seat widths. If a 15, 17, or 19 inch width is still named on an old form, ask us to confirm it before anyone treats it as a factory size. This model is a standard self-propel wheelchair. Transport chairs use small rear wheels and are companion-pushed only.
ADP funding for a Category 2 wheelchair in Ontario
This chair is an ADP-eligible category device. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) pays 75% of the approved price for eligible clients, and clients receiving Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD support can be covered for the full cost. The route starts with an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, who confirms the need and the right category before anything is ordered: a chair bought before approval is not reimbursed. Westin Healthcare works with ADP authorizers and submissions every week, configures the chair to the prescription, and walks you through the paperwork. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to start the conversation.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Once the chair is configured to the assessment, Westin's own team delivers it across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, unfold it, and show you the brakes, the fold, and the footrests before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a Category 2 chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date after they are built.
If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Sunrise manufacturer warranty
Sunrise covers the original purchaser for the life of the frame and cross-brace, and for one year on Sunrise-made parts, against defects in materials and workmanship. Wear items such as tires, tubes, upholstery, pads, and grips sit outside that term. Coverage can vary by province. We handle the claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
What does Category 2 mean on this wheelchair?
Category 2 is the Ontario ADP lightweight manual band: a folding chair in the 25 to 38 lb range with swing-away footrests and removable arms. The Breezy 600's 28 lb basic weight sits in that band. Category 1 is heavier than 38 lb. Category 3 adds centre-of-gravity adjustability.
Does Sunrise still make the Breezy 600?
No. The Canadian page says it is no longer available to order. The US page says it has been discontinued and replaced by the Quickie QX. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will check leftover supply. If we cannot source a 600, we will show you the QX or another current Category 2 chair.
Who qualifies for ADP on a Category 2 chair?
You must be an Ontario resident with a valid health card and a disability that needs the device for 6 months or longer. An ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist has to assess you before the chair is ordered. We cannot promise that a specific person will be approved.
How does the 75 / 25 split work?
For an eligible client, the ADP-registered vendor bills ADP 75% of the approved price and the client pays the remaining 25%, plus any extras that are not on the ADP list. People on Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD can be covered at 100% of the approved price.
What is the assessment process?
An ADP-registered OT or PT measures the person, names the category and the device, and completes the clinical part of the application. Westin helps finish the form and submits it. Do not buy the chair first. A device ordered before those steps is not reimbursed.
How long does ADP take?
Ontario aims to review a mobility-aid application within 8 weeks of receiving it. Build and delivery come after approval. We will give you a date once the chair is released.
Can I try a chair before the order is placed?
Come into a Brampton or Toronto store and we will show you a Category 2 folding chair so you can feel the fold, the brakes, and the seat width. A floor chair may be a QX or another current model, not a 600. A therapist may also trial equipment during the assessment.
How should the seat width fit?
Measure the seated hip width and leave a little room on each side. The owner's manual lists 14, 16, 18, and 20 inches. Seat depth on the Westin setup is 16 or 18 inches. Those numbers come from the assessment, not from a guess on the form.
What is the weight capacity?
Sunrise lists 250 lb for the Breezy 600. Stay at or under that rating. If the person is near 250 lb, tell us before paperwork starts.
What happens if ADP declines the application?
Ontario sends a letter with the reason and the appeal steps. Westin will sit down with you, look at the letter, and talk through an appeal, a different category, or a non-ADP route.
What is the warranty on the Breezy 600?
Lifetime on the frame and cross-brace for the original purchaser, and one year on Sunrise-made parts. Wear items are outside that term. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
