Description
The Serenity Standard Vertical Platform Lift is a porch lift from Serenity Health Care Products Inc. of North York, Ontario. Westin Healthcare measures the landing in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, then sends a written quote. This is not a Savaria Multilift and it is not a stairlift. The rider stays in a wheelchair or stands on the platform.
Serenity rates the Standard VPL at 750 lb (340 kg). Our codes are the 28 in, 52 in, and 72 in towers, each in AC or DC. The platform has an automatic ramp, keyed constant-pressure controls, and an under-platform safety mesh. A home assessment comes first.
Who this lift is for
This porch lift is for a household that needs to reach a deck, porch, or short rise without a long ramp. Families usually call us when a wheelchair or scooter has to roll on and off, when a stairlift seat is the wrong idea, or when the rise is more than a portable ramp should cover.
If the person can transfer onto a seat and the stairs are indoors, start with a Handicare 1100 or Handicare Freecurve. A long outdoor path may still be a modular ramp such as the QRamp QR4.0. Serenity also builds a Premium tower for taller rises; that is a different Westin row, quoted on its own.
- Porches, decks, and short outdoor or indoor rises
- A rider who stays in a wheelchair, scooter, or on foot, at or under 750 lb (340 kg)
- A 28 in, 52 in, or 72 in Standard tower in AC or DC
How the platform runs
The rider rolls onto the platform, turns the key, and holds up or down. Releasing the button stops the platform. An emergency stop sounds an alarm. When the platform is off the lower landing, the ramp rises and acts as a guard. It lowers again at the landing. A safety mesh under the deck stops downward travel if it meets an obstacle.
Tower hand is left or right. A 90-degree entrance and a front-exit panel layout are dealer options. If household power fails on a DC tower, the batteries keep the lift moving. On either power type the manual says a hand wheel on the tower can lower the platform after the power is isolated.
Serenity Standard Vertical Platform Lift specifications
These figures are from Serenity's product-line page and the VPL-SH1 owner's manual, Rev 8.
Capacity 750 lb (340 kg). Standard tower heights we quote: 28 in, 52 in, and 72 in. AC: 110 VAC, 60 Hz, 0.75 kW, 1 hp, 1.50 in/s. DC: two 12 V batteries, 24 V DC, 750 W, 1.36 in/s. Constant-pressure controls, key switch, emergency stop with alarm, automatic ramp, under-platform mesh. Indoor or outdoor residential. Manual cover marks: ETL, ASME A17.5, CSA B44.1. Standard platform 36 x 48 in (34 x 48 in inside).
Power type and lifting height
Use Power Type for AC or DC. Use Maximum Lifting Height for 28 in, 52 in, or 72 in. A 105 in rise belongs on Serenity's taller tower, which is not these Standard codes. Call (905) 451-7743 for a free site measure and a written quote. The lift is not a boxed cart item.
Stairlift or porch lift
A stairlift is a seat that travels the existing stairs. See the Handicare 1100 and the Handicare Freecurve. A vertical platform lift is a short elevator for a person who stays in a wheelchair. This Serenity Standard is that porch lift. A long aluminum path is a ramp, not a lift. See the Gateway 3G or the QRamp QR4.0.
Funding help for a stairlift or home accessibility in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund stairlifts, platform lifts, or home modifications, so plan around other routes. The March of Dimes Canada Home and Vehicle Modification Program is the main Ontario funding source for home accessibility changes like stairlifts and platform lifts, and Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), the Ontario Renovates program in some municipalities, extended health plans, and community organizations can also help. The Home Accessibility Tax Credit may apply to qualifying renovations on a Canadian tax return. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team measures, delivers, and installs the Serenity Standard VPL across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We set the tower, run the platform, and show you the key, the hold-to-run buttons, and the emergency stop before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a porch-lift photo set first. For a scheduled measure, call (905) 451-7743. A purchased lift is installed on a scheduled date after the quote.
A vertical platform lift is oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the lift is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Frequently asked questions
Who Makes The Serenity Vertical Platform Lift?
Serenity Health Care Products Inc. of North York, Ontario makes the Serenity Standard Vertical Platform Lift. It is not a Savaria Multilift and not a Handicare chair.
What Is A Vertical Platform Lift?
A vertical platform lift, also called a porch lift, is a short elevator. The Serenity Standard carries a person who stays in a wheelchair or stands on the platform, up to 750 lb (340 kg), between two landings.
How Much Does A Porch Lift Cost In Ontario?
A Serenity Standard VPL is quoted after a site measure. Tower height, AC or DC, and entrance layout change the figure. Call (905) 451-7743 for a written quote. The Standard VPL is sold as a quote, not a printed price.
Does ADP Cover A Porch Lift In Ontario?
Funding for a Serenity Standard VPL in Ontario depends on the person's situation and assessment. Westin Healthcare works with the programs that may apply. Visit the funding page or call (905) 451-7743 before you buy.
What Lift Heights Are On The Standard Towers?
The Serenity Standard towers we quote are 28 in, 52 in, and 72 in, AC or DC. Serenity also lists a 105 in Standard height and a Premium tower. Those are different codes. Ask us if the rise is taller than 72 in.
Stairlift Or Porch Lift: Which Do I Need?
Choose a stairlift when the person can sit on a moving chair and the stairs are the path. Choose the Serenity Standard porch lift when the person stays in a wheelchair or the rise is a porch or deck, not a stair flight.
Does It Work During A Power Cut?
A DC Serenity Standard VPL runs on batteries. The owner's manual also describes a hand wheel on the tower that can lower the platform after the power is isolated, on either power type.
Can I Install The Lift Myself?
No. Serenity requires an authorized dealer to install and maintain the VPL-SH1. Westin Healthcare does that install in the GTA. The warranty needs that dealer path.
What Warranty Does It Carry?
Serenity covers the VPL-SH1 frame weldment for 36 months and the motor and electrical parts for 12 months. Labour is not covered. Annual inspections are required after the first year. Westin Healthcare handles the claim with you.
Is A Permit Required In Ontario?
A permit for a porch lift in Ontario is a municipal question. Check with your local building department before we order the tower. Call (905) 451-7743 if you want us to talk through what we measured.
