Description
The Ride Designs Forward Cushion is Ride's milder configured wheelchair cushion for Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Ride writes it for pressure relief and moderate support, including pediatric sizes from 10 by 10 inches.
This is a quote-only configured cushion. It is visco-elastic foam over a polyurethane base, not a Java and not a scanned Custom 2.
Who this cushion is for
Ride writes the Forward Cushion for mild to moderate postural challenges and some sensation. Pediatric contours start at 10 by 10 inches. A seating therapist should confirm Forward versus Java. This page does not give clinical positioning advice.
- Capacity 350 lbs (160 kg)
- Pediatric 10 and 12 inch, adult 14 to 20 inch
- Inner incontinence cover standard
Foam, cover, and care
The Ride Forward Cushion uses a visco-elastic top over a contoured polyurethane base. CAM wedges can be added later. The spacer outer cover is how Ride talks about airflow under load. The inner cover has no zipper in the drain path. The cushion can be taken apart to wash or sanitize. An integrated spandex layer over the spacer is an extra cover option on Ride's FAQ.

How Ride custom seating is ordered
Ride Designs sells through Ride certified providers. Westin is that dealer path in Brampton and the GTA. A seating therapist and our staff assess first. For Custom 2, Custom AccuSoft from a shape, and Custom Back from a shape, Ride captures a bead-bag shape, scans it, and sends the scan, photos, and order form through the RideWorks app. Ride keeps the scan for later growth or a remake.
Ride also prints a made-from-measurements path for some Custom Back and AccuSoft orders, and AccuSoft can be specified from a trial Java Cushion. Ride says people with significant postural asymmetry get a better outcome from a scanned shape. Java and Forward cushions, and Java and Java Decaf backs, are configured stock shapes, not scanned custom, but they are still quote-only here.
Which Ride wheelchair cushion
Stay with the Ride Forward Cushion if the therapist wants this milder visco top, including pediatric sizes. The Ride Java Cushion is the higher configured Ride cushion. Custom work sits on the Ride Custom 2 Cushion or the Ride Custom AccuSoft Cushion.
Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario
This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every product qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers this wheelchair cushion across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, check it against the wheelchair, and show you the cover and any hardware before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a sample first. For a scheduled in-home drop-off, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased seating is delivered on a scheduled date after the assessment and quote.
If the order is going outside the GTA, ask us for a shipping quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Frequently asked questions
What Size Wheelchair Cushion Do I Need?
A seating therapist measures hip width in sitting and matches the wheelchair seat. Spex CA cards for Standard, High, and SuperHigh Contour print widths 10 to 20 inches (25 to 50 cm) and depths 10 to 22 inches (25 to 56 cm). Ride Java prints discrete widths and depths from 14 to 20 inches.
How Do I Choose Between Gel, Foam, And Air Cushions?
Spex and Ride Designs cushions in this family are foam or custom foam, not a JAY Flow fluid pad and not an air-cell cushion. A seating therapist picks the medium. If the assessment points to fluid or air, ask us about current JAY or ROHO options instead.
Does ADP Cover Wheelchair Cushions?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can help with a wheelchair cushion or back support after an ADP-registered therapist assessment with an eligible mobility device. Eligibility depends on the person. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.
Do I Order This Off The Shelf?
This is a quote-only seating product. Westin configures it after a seating assessment with an occupational therapist or physiotherapist. There is no add-to-cart delivery of a custom or made-to-order seat.
Does The Forward Cushion Come In Pediatric Sizes?
The Ride Forward Cushion is sold in pediatric contours at 10 and 12 inches and adult contours from 14 to 20 inches, with depths from 10 to 20 inches. Extra sizes are factory modifications.
What Is The Weight Limit For The Ride Forward Cushion?
The Ride Forward Cushion is rated at 350 lbs (160 kg) on Ride's current product page.
How Do I Clean The Ride Forward Cushion?
The Ride Forward Cushion can be taken apart to wash or sanitize. The inner incontinence cover is standard. Follow the handbook that ships with the size you order.
How Long Is The Forward Cushion Warranty?
The Ride Forward Cushion carries 24 months from delivery on the cushion and 90 days on the cover.
Can I See This Seating In Brampton?
