Description

The Raz SP shower commode is Raz Design's self-propelled mobile shower chair, made in Toronto, for homes and clinics in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The person pushes 22 in rear wheels. Raz rates the current SP at 407 lb (185 kg).

This is the non-tilt self-propel chair in Raz's stainless family. The attendant-only sibling is the Raz AP. The tilting sibling is the Raz AT. The heavy-duty attendant sibling is the Raz AP600.

Who this shower commode is for

This chair is for a person who will self-propel a shower commode wheelchair between toilet and shower, stays at or under Raz's 407 lb rating, and does not need tilt. Families here usually call when 22 in wheels and a commode pan will cover both rooms without an attendant pushing every metre.

Raz writes that the SP comes standard with 4 in of height adjustment, an adjustable-tension fabric backrest, 22 in rear wheels, 5 in dual-locking casters, flip-up padded armrests, and a commode pan. That is Raz's sentence. Westin does not give medical advice.

  • Self propelled on 22 in rear wheels (24 in is a factory option, not on the standard SP)
  • Non-tilt 18 in (46 cm) seat frame
  • 407 lb (185 kg) stainless chair with a commode pan

Wheels, height, and toilet clearance

Raz prints multi-position axle plates for up to 4 in of vertical seat height and 1.5 in of horizontal travel so the chair can sit on a toilet bowl. Seat-to-floor with the moulded seat is 20, 21, 22, or 24 in (51 to 61 cm) on 22 in wheels. Front casters are dual-locking 5 in (125 mm).

Clearance under the seat on 22 in wheels is 15.25, 16.25, 17.25, or 19.25 in (39 to 49 cm) with the pan brackets and 16, 17, 18, or 20 in (41 to 51 cm) without them. Clearance width on the standard 18 in frame is 16 in (41 cm). The turning circle in the manual is 60 in (152 cm). Come into a Brampton or Toronto store if you want the bowl and a doorway checked on the floor.

  • 22 in rear wheels with textured handrims
  • Product weight 47 lb (21 kg) with footrests on the 18 in frame
  • Commode pan with lid ships on the SP

Design and build

The frame and hardware are stainless steel. Raz prints a lifetime term against corrosion on that material when the chair is cleaned as the manual states.

The moulded seat is 18 in wide. Current Raz seats are 17 in or 20 in deep (43 or 51 cm), open or bridged in front. Ischial and Pelvic Alignment System (IPAS) gives up to 2 in (5 cm) of fore and aft travel so the opening can sit on the pelvis. The seat locks for a transfer and lifts off to clean.

The standard back is an 18 in fixed back with moulded vinyl and flip-up padded arms. Foot supports swing away, flip up, and set for leg length without tools. Raz prints regular length 16 to 20.5 in and extended 18 to 22.5 in. Rear anti-tippers are strongly recommended on Raz's order form; ask us what ships on your chair.

Raz SP shower commode specifications

These figures are from Raz's current SP order form (RSD056, 2026-05-13) and the AP/SP manual RTD031ENr07. The specification tab holds the stored values. Use the Raz sheet when they fight.

Weight capacity 407 lb (185 kg). Seat-to-floor 20 to 24 in (51 to 61 cm) on 22 in wheels. Product weight 47 lb (21 kg) on 22 in wheels, 49 lb (22 kg) on 24 in wheels. Overall width is seat width plus 7.75 in, about 26 in (65 cm) wheel to wheel. Stainless steel, lifetime against corrosion. Two-year frame term and one-year term on other parts as printed in the manual.

Attendant or self propelled, fixed or tilt

Stay on the Raz SP if the person will push a non-tilt shower commode wheelchair and 407 lb is enough. Step to the Raz AP when an attendant will push four casters and you want the narrower chair. Step to the Raz AT when the attendant needs up to 40° of tilt. Step to the Raz AP600 when Raz's 605 lb attendant chair is the fit.

For a lighter aluminum tilt chair with optional 24 in wheels, use the Ezee Life HL190.

Funding help for bathroom safety equipment in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund bathroom safety equipment, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada's Home and Vehicle Modification Program, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), extended health plans, and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
