Description
The Raz AP600 shower commode is Raz Design's attendant-propelled heavy-duty mobile shower chair, made in Toronto, for homes and clinics in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The attendant pushes it. Raz rates the current AP600 at 605 lb (275 kg).
This is the non-tilt bariatric attendant chair in Raz's stainless family. The 407 lb attendant sibling is the Raz AP. The tilting 407 lb sibling is the Raz AT. Raz also makes an AT600 tilt chair, which is a different model.
Who this shower commode is for
This chair is for a person who needs an attendant to push a heavy-duty shower commode wheelchair, sits above the Raz AP's 407 lb rating, and stays at or under 605 lb. Families here usually call when a wider moulded seat and a stainless attendant frame are the fit.
Raz writes that the AP600 is for users who require an attendant-propelled heavy-duty shower commode chair. That is Raz's sentence. Westin does not give medical advice.
- Attendant propelled, 605 lb (275 kg)
- Non-tilt 22 in (56 cm) seat frame with a 23 in (58 cm) by 18 in (46 cm) moulded seat
- 5 in (125 mm) dual-locking casters standard; 6 in (150 mm) required above 450 lb
Height, casters, and toilet clearance
Raz prints 4 in (10 cm) of tool-free height on solid stainless caster extensions. Seat-to-floor with the moulded seat and 5 in casters is 19 to 23 in (48 to 58 cm) in 1 in steps. Raz requires 6 in casters when the user is over 450 lb (204 kg).
Clearance under the seat with 5 in casters is 14.3 to 18.3 in (36 to 46 cm) with pan brackets and 15.1 to 19.1 in (38 to 49 cm) without. Clearance width is the seat-frame width minus 6 in, 16 in (41 cm) on the standard 22 in frame. Come into a Brampton or Toronto store if you want the bowl checked on the floor.
- Standard overall width about 26.5 in (67 cm) with standard arm pads
- Product weight 54.5 lb (25 kg) on 5 in casters
- Commode pan with lid ships on the AP600
Design and build
The frame and hardware are electro-polished stainless steel. Raz prints a lifetime term against corrosion on that material when the chair is cleaned as the manual states.
The moulded seat is 23 in wide by 18 in deep, open in front, with Ischial and Pelvic Alignment System (IPAS) for up to 2 in (5 cm) of fore and aft travel. The seat locks for a transfer and lifts off to clean.
The standard back is a 20 in multi-position back with 2 in of fore and aft travel, 90° or 97° back angles, and tension-adjustable vinyl. Arms flip up and sit about 10 in (25 cm) above the moulded seat. Heavy-duty foot supports swing away and set for leg length without tools.
Raz AP600 shower commode specifications
These figures are from Raz's current AP600 order form (RSD057, 2026-05-13) and the AP600/SP600 manual RTD033ENr06. The specification tab holds the stored values. Use the Raz sheet when they fight.
Weight capacity 605 lb (275 kg). Seat-to-floor 19 to 23 in (48 to 58 cm) on 5 in casters. Seat 23 in W by 18 in D (58 by 46 cm). Product weight 54.5 lb (25 kg) on 5 in casters, 56.5 lb (26.7 kg) on 6 in casters. Stainless steel, lifetime against corrosion. Two-year frame term and one-year term on other parts as printed in the manual.
Fixed or tilt, 407 lb or 605 lb
Stay on the Raz AP600 if an attendant will push a non-tilt shower commode wheelchair and Raz's 605 lb rating is the reason. Step down to the Raz AP when 407 lb and an 18 in seat are enough. Step to the Raz AT when the attendant needs up to 40° of tilt at 407 lb. The Raz SP is the 407 lb self-propel chair, not a 605 lb chair.
For a 20° aluminum tilt in a 20 in seat, use the Ezee Life HL195 (325 lb). That is a different capacity class.
Funding help for bathroom safety equipment in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund bathroom safety equipment, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada's Home and Vehicle Modification Program, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), extended health plans, and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
