Description
The Quickie SR45 is Sunrise Medical's steel Category 5 tilt-in-space wheelchair. Westin Healthcare configures it to prescription for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. This is not an off-the-shelf cart chair. An ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist assesses first. Then Westin builds the seat, the back, and the hangers on Sunrise's order form.
Sunrise's current SR45 page lists 45 degrees of Intelligent Rotation in Space, a 265 lb capacity, and a 39 lb steel frame. The seat frame rotates around the person's centre of gravity so the wheelbase stays short while the chair tilts. Seat width is 14 to 20 inches. Seat depth is 14 to 22 inches. Power tilt is an option on the order, not a separate storefront model.
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who needs a manual dynamic tilt because they cannot shift their own weight, and whose therapist has chosen a Category 5 tilt rather than a standard folding wheelchair. A caregiver usually changes the tilt through the day. The person may still self-propel on large rear wheels, or they may be pushed from the handles.
If the person needs more tilt, a heavier capacity, or an aluminum frame, start with the Quickie IRIS. If a folding tilt with a shorter 20 degree range is the better fit, see the Ki Mobility Liberty. Browse the rest of our tilt wheelchairs if you are still comparing Category 5 bases.
- Category 5 manual dynamic tilt after an ADP-registered therapist assessment
- 45 degrees of rotation in space on a steel SR45 frame
- A 265 lb Sunrise rating and a 14 to 20 inch seat
Design and build
The SR45 frame is steel. Sunrise builds it as a standard tilt base, not a folding cross-brace commuter chair. The seat rotates on Intelligent Rotation in Space geometry, the same family of tilt used on the IRIS, locked here at 45 degrees. A foot-release tilt actuator is one of the options Sunrise lists for caregivers who tilt by hand.
Seat width, seat depth, back height, armrests, wheels, tires, and transit brackets are chosen on the order. Hangers swing away or elevate. Anti-tips and wheel locks are part of a tilt setup. Sunrise also lists an optional power tilt with a toggle on the armrest and an attendant control, so the rider or the caregiver can change position without lifting the frame.
- Steel standard frame, model EIZ9
- 45 degree posterior tilt around the centre of gravity
- Seat 14 to 20 inches wide, 14 to 22 inches deep
- Front and rear seat-to-floor 14 to 20.5 inches
- Transit option on the order form
- Optional power tilt with toggle or attendant control
Quickie SR45 specifications
These figures are for the Quickie SR45 Westin configures from Sunrise's current Canada page and the October 2025 Canada order form. The specification tab holds the stored values. Use the 45 degree / 265 lb / 39 lb steel lines, not a 55 degree IRIS figure if that still appears in older text.
Seat width 14 to 20 inches. Seat depth 14 to 22 inches. Front and rear seat-to-floor 14 to 20.5 inches. Tilt 45 degrees (0 to 45 on the Canada form). Back height 15 to 21 inches or 18 to 24 inches. Back angle -30 to 5 degrees. Lower leg 9.9 to 18.7 inches. Camber 0 degrees. Frame steel. Transit yes. Capacity 265 lb. Chair weight 39 lb. Model EIZ9.
Warranty for the original purchaser is lifetime on the frame and cross-brace, and one year on Sunrise-made parts, in the USA and Canada. Tires, tubes, upholstery, pads, and push-handle grips are outside that term.
Seat Width, Seat Depth, Back Height, and hangers
Use Seat Width, Seat Depth, and Back Height with the therapist so the chair matches the prescription. Sunrise's SR45 widths run 14 to 20 inches. A 22 inch seat is not an SR45 size. Back height is 15 to 21 inches or 18 to 24 inches.
Use Legrest Footrest Type to set swing-away or elevating hangers. Other hanger geometry, wheel size, colour, and transit stay on the Sunrise order form that Westin submits with you.
ADP funding for a Category 5 wheelchair in Ontario
This chair is an ADP-eligible category device. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) pays 75% of the approved price for eligible clients, and clients receiving Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD support can be covered for the full cost. The route starts with an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, who confirms the need and the right category before anything is ordered: a chair bought before approval is not reimbursed. Westin Healthcare works with ADP authorizers and submissions every week, configures the chair to the prescription, and walks you through the paperwork. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to start the conversation.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this chair across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area after the assessment, the configuration, and the ADP submission are in place. We bring it in, check the tilt, and show you the wheel locks, the hangers, and the tilt release before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
If the chair is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Sunrise Medical manufacturer warranty
Sunrise warrants the SR45 frame and cross-brace for the life of the original purchaser, and Sunrise-made parts for one year from first consumer purchase, in the USA and Canada. The term does not cover wear items such as tires, tubes, upholstery, pads, and grips, and it does not transfer to a later owner. We handle the claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
What does Category 5 mean on this chair?
Category 5 is Ontario's adult manual dynamic tilt class. The SR45 is a tilt-in-space chair for a person who cannot independently weight-shift and who needs the seat to rotate. It is not a Type 1 steel folder and it is not a transport chair.
Who qualifies for ADP on a Category 5 tilt?
Ontario residents with a valid health card who need a mobility aid for six months or longer may apply. An ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist has to assess the person before the chair is ordered. Income is not the test. We cannot promise that a given buyer will be approved.
How does the 75 / 25 split work?
For eligible clients, ADP can fund 75 percent of the approved price of an eligible manual wheelchair. The client pays the remaining 25 percent. People on Ontario Works, ODSP, or ACSD can be covered at 100 percent. Extra items that ADP does not list stay with the client.
What is the assessment process?
Book an ADP-registered OT or PT. They confirm that a generic or transport chair will not meet the need, trial tilt if that is the minimum device, and write the prescription. Westin, as the vendor, helps complete the application and submits it. Do not buy the chair first. A chair bought before approval is not reimbursed.
How long does ADP take?
Ontario aims to review a mobility-aid application within about eight weeks of receiving it. Build time for a configured SR45 sits on top of that. Ask us for a current picture when the paperwork is ready. We will not quote a same-week custom delivery.
Can we trial or demo an SR45?
Westin can show you a Category 5 tilt at a Brampton or Toronto store when one is on the floor. A trial of the prescribed setup is part of the therapist's work. A floor chair may not match the final seat size.
What seat width do I need?
Sunrise lists 14 to 20 inches on the SR45. Measure seated hip width with the therapist. A 22 inch seat is not an SR45 size. If 20 inches is tight, ask us about another Category 5 base with a wider seat.
Who pushes this chair?
A caregiver often pushes from the handles and works the tilt. The person can also self-propel if the therapist sets large rear wheels and the person has the strength. Engage both wheel locks before sitting or standing.
Does the SR45 fold into a car trunk?
No. It is a steel tilt base, not a folding commuter chair. The back can fold down on many setups to shorten the package. Sunrise lists a 39 lb chair weight. Plan on a van or a hatch and two people, or ask us about delivery.
What is the warranty?
Lifetime on the frame and cross-brace for the original purchaser, and one year on Sunrise-made parts. Wear items are outside that term. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
What happens if ADP declines?
Ontario sends a letter with the reason and the appeal route. Do not take delivery of a custom chair on the assumption that a decline will reverse. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will walk through the letter with you and the therapist.
Is this the same chair as the Quickie IRIS?
No. The SR45 is the steel 45 degree chair with a 265 lb rating and a 14 to 20 inch seat. The IRIS is aluminum, 300 or 400 lb, 14 to 22 inch, with 40, 55, or 60 degree tilt. They are separate Sunrise models.
