Description
The Drive Prime Plus P750 is Drive DeVilbiss's expandable long-term care bariatric bed, sold as the Prime Plus Care Bed Model P750. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes and care settings in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The hand pendant moves the head section, the knee section, the height of the bed, Auto-Contour, and the Cardiac Comfort Chair.
Drive lists a 700 lb patient weight capacity and a 750 lb safe working load for the person, the mattress, the rails, and anything else on the bed. The sleep deck expands from 39 inches to 42 inches or 48 inches with a push button, and the length stops at 80 inches, 84 inches, or 88 inches. Brochure height is 11 inches low to 30 inches working height.
Who this bed is for
This bed is for a person who needs a hospital-style bed at home or in long-term care and needs more width, more length, or more capacity than a standard 36-inch homecare frame. Families usually call us when someone is coming home from hospital, when a regular bed has become hard to get in and out of, or when a therapist has asked for an expandable bariatric deck that can change size without buying a second frame.
If you need a lower sleep deck in the same Drive long-term care family, see the Drive PrimeCare P903. If a fixed 48-inch homecare bariatric bed is enough, see the Drive 15302LW 48-inch bariatric bed. Another expandable long-term care option in the same family is the Drive PrimeCare P703.
- Home care, where the bed has to work in a bedroom and grow from 39 inches to 48 inches if the person needs more space later
- Long-term care or rehabilitation, where staff want a low 11-inch entry height and a 30-inch working height
- Anyone who needs electric head, knee, height, Auto-Contour, and Cardiac Comfort Chair from one hand pendant, at a 700 lb patient / 750 lb total capacity
What you get
The Drive Prime Plus P750 is a full-electric long-term care bariatric bed. The backlit hand pendant raises or lowers the back, the knee, the back and knee together (Auto-Contour), and the whole deck. One button puts the bed into the Cardiac Comfort Chair position. An under-bed light is on the same pendant.
This listing is Drive SKU P750, the frame without the integral scale. Drive's scale sibling is a different item, P750-WS. Headboards, footboards, rails, and a mattress are ordered separately. Ask us which rail and which surface to put on the deck before we book delivery.
- Backlit hand pendant for head, knee, Auto-Contour, height, Cardiac Comfort Chair, and the under-bed light
- Welded tubular steel frame and slat sleep deck
- Push-button width expansion from 39 inches to 42 inches or 48 inches
- Integrated length stops at 80 inches, 84 inches, and 88 inches, with adjustable mattress retainers
- One-step floor lock (red pedal to lock, green pedal to release)
- Four heavy-duty 3-inch dual-footprint locking casters that roll at any height
- Fixed adjustable wall bumper
- IV pole holders
- Optional staff control on the footboard for Trendelenburg, Reverse Trendelenburg, and caregiver lockouts
- Optional battery backup (Drive P903-T-BBK) if you want the bed to keep working through a power cut
There is no 9V backup in the pendant and no emergency crank. Unless the optional battery backup is fitted, the bed stays in the last position when it is unplugged. Casters are for moving an empty bed inside the room. Drive does not intend this frame as a patient transport device.
Drive Prime Plus P750 specifications
These figures are for Westin SKU P750, the Drive Prime Plus Care Bed Model P750. The specification tab holds the stored values. Drive's current brochure for this SKU lists a height of 11 inches low to 30 inches working height, push-button width 39 inches, 42 inches, and 48 inches, and sleep length 80 inches, 84 inches, and 88 inches.
Drive's owner manual for the same SKU prints a height range of 11.5 inches to 30.5 inches, an overall length without the wall bumper of 88.5 inches, 92.5 inches, or 96.5 inches, and a frame weight of 282 lbs without headboard, footboard, or accessories. Patient weight capacity is 700 lbs. Safe working load is 750 lbs for the person, the mattress, the rails, and anything else on the bed. Head section travel is 0 to 69 degrees. Thigh travel is 0 to 30 degrees. Foot travel is 0 to 12 degrees.
Warranty for the original purchaser is 15 years on the frame, a limited lifetime on welds, 5 years on electrical and mechanical components, and 1 year on the battery backup and all other parts and components.
Rails, mattress, and bed ends
This listing is the Drive P750 bed frame. There is no rail or mattress selector on the order. Ask us to add Drive's matching rails, a mattress sized to the deck you will use, and bed ends when you order, or we can set that up when we book delivery.
Rails Selection
Our specification list names these Drive long-term care assists. They are sold separately:
- Deluxe Rotating Rail (Pair)
- Standard Rotating Assist Rail (Pair)
- Rotating Assist Bar (Pair)
Those map to Drive's PLTCDR deluxe rotating rail, PLTCAR rotating assist rail, and PLTCAB rotating assist bar. Drive's owner manual says to use rails and a mattress that fit this frame, and to keep the mattress centred so the person cannot slip into a gap. Rails are a reminder to help keep someone from rolling out. They are not a restraint. If you are not sure which rail style the therapist asked for, call (905) 451-7743 before you order.
Mattress
Size the mattress to the width and length you will run: 39 inches, 42 inches, or 48 inches wide, and 80 inches, 84 inches, or 88 inches long. Drive's owner manual prints a mattress thickness range of 5.5 inches to 7 inches. If you are not sure which surface you need, call (905) 451-7743. Your therapist can tell us if the person needs a foam surface or an alternating-pressure system.
Bed ends and staff control
Drive offers bed ends in two styles and three colours. An optional staff control on the footboard is what adds Trendelenburg and Reverse Trendelenburg. Those two positions are not on the standard hand pendant. Drive's owner manual says to use them only with a clinician's recommendation, and only when the bed is near its highest height.
Funding help for a hospital bed in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover hospital beds. OHIP does not cover them either. Depending on the person, other programs may help, including ODSP, March of Dimes, Veterans Affairs Canada, hardship funding programs, and community support programs.
Westin Healthcare works with these funding programs every week. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the contact page and we will check which programs fit your situation before any paperwork starts. The funding page lists the programs we work with.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this bed across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, assemble it, and show you the hand control before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a bed first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased beds are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
Hospital beds are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the bed is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Can I rent a hospital bed before I buy?
Yes. If you only need the bed for a recovery, or you want to live with a full-electric bed before you buy, rent first. Hospital bed rentals start from $150 a month. See current packages and rates on hospital bed rentals in Brampton.
Rental packages include side rails and a therapeutic medical mattress. For rentals we offer same-day delivery in Brampton, Etobicoke, Toronto, and Mississauga, and next-day delivery for other areas, with one day of notice. The shortest rental term is one month.
If you later decide to buy, ask us about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program (an active Westin loyalty program). The rentals hub and rental program FAQs have the program rules.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the bed needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Drive manufacturer warranty
Drive's warranty for the original purchaser of this bed is 15 years on the frame, a limited lifetime on welds, 5 years on electrical and mechanical components, and 1 year on the battery backup and all other parts and components. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
Does OHIP cover hospital beds?
No. Hospital beds in Ontario are not covered by OHIP. Depending on the person, March of Dimes, Veterans Affairs Canada, or a community support program may still help. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will check which path fits before anyone starts paperwork.
Does ADP cover hospital beds in Ontario?
No. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program does not cover hospital beds. OHIP does not cover them either. The funding page lists the programs Westin Healthcare works with, including March of Dimes, Veterans Affairs Canada, and community support programs.
What is the difference between a full-electric and a semi-electric hospital bed?
The Drive Prime Plus P750 is full electric, so the hand pendant adjusts the head, the knee, and the height of the bed. A semi-electric bed usually moves the head and foot with a motor and leaves height to a crank. This frame has no everyday crank.
What mattress fits the Drive Prime Plus P750?
Size the mattress to the deck you will run: 39 inches, 42 inches, or 48 inches wide, and 80 inches, 84 inches, or 88 inches long. Drive's owner manual prints a mattress thickness range of 5.5 inches to 7 inches. Ask your therapist before you pick an alternating-pressure surface.
Can I rent a hospital bed before buying?
Yes. Westin Healthcare rents full-electric hospital beds with side rails and a therapeutic mattress. See current packages and rates on the hospital bed rentals page. If you later buy, ask about the Rental to Purchase First Month Credit program so we can apply the program rules to this bed.
How fast can a hospital bed be delivered in the GTA?
Westin's team delivers and sets up purchased beds across Brampton and the GTA on a scheduled date. Call (905) 451-7743 for the next opening. Same-day delivery belongs to the hospital bed rental service, not automatically to a purchased bed.
What is included with this Drive Prime Plus P750?
You get the Drive P750 full-electric long-term care frame, the backlit hand pendant, casters, the one-step floor lock, and the wall bumper. Rails, a mattress, and bed ends are separate. An integral scale is a different Drive item, P750-WS. Battery backup and staff control are optional.
What is the weight capacity of the Drive Prime Plus P750?
Drive lists a patient weight capacity of 700 lbs and a safe working load of 750 lbs for the P750. The total includes the person, the mattress, the rails, and anything else on the bed. If the person is near that limit, or you need a deck wider than 48 inches, ask us about a heavier long-term care frame instead of stretching this one.
What happens if the power goes out?
Unless the optional battery backup is fitted, the bed stays in the last position when it is unplugged. There is no 9V battery in the pendant and no emergency crank on this model. Ask us about Drive's P903-T-BBK backup if you want the bed to keep moving through an outage.
What is the warranty on the Drive Prime Plus P750?
For the original purchaser, Drive covers the frame for 15 years, welds for a limited lifetime, electrical and mechanical components for 5 years, and the battery backup and all other parts for 1 year. Those terms are printed on Drive's P750 sheet and in the owner manual. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work on our service and repairs page.
How do the width and length change, and what is Cardiac Comfort Chair?
Width is a push-button expansion on the deck: 39 inches, 42 inches, or 48 inches. Length stops at 80 inches, 84 inches, or 88 inches. Cardiac Comfort Chair is a one-touch pendant position that sits the person up. Auto-Contour raises the back and the knee together. Trendelenburg and Reverse Trendelenburg need the optional staff control.
How is the P750 different from the PrimeCare P903 and the 15302LW?
The P750 is Drive's expandable 750 lb long-term care bariatric, with an 11-inch low height and a deck that grows to 48 inches. The Drive PrimeCare P903 is the lower long-term care sibling. The Drive 15302LW is a fixed 48-inch homecare bariatric bed, not an LTC expandable frame.
